About

Ever fancied yourself as a Jane Austen hero or heroine? As you approach the grade one listed 17th century Chilston Park by its sweeping driveway you’ll undoubtedly feel a dramatic swoon coming on. And modern day Bennetts and Darcys certainly won’t feel out of place in the hotel’s elegant Culpeper’s dining room. With more than a nod to the history of the building but with a sleekly contemporary edge the space is cool and clean with antique portraits on the wall and single dusky roses adorning tables. Offering classic fine dining, the Culpeper’s menu is a real treat with French and British inspired dishes prepared with a real attention to detail.

Allium in Fairford, Gloucs, is a stylish restaurant that paints your plate through its artistic presentation of good food.

The menu is wide and appealing and the service is professional and discreet.

The wine list is approachable.

We much enjoyed our visit for Sunday lunch and would recommend it.

Culpeppers at Chilston Park for lunch was a fantastic midweek treat. The restaurant was quiet but the food and service were excellent. The Goats Cheese Brulee starter was original and very tasty.

Third trip to Allium in two months and this time lunch for 4 of us. The bill which included 4 - 5 course and drinks including wine was just under £100. Excellant quality as always, supurb service and still a plate I want to return too soon. Main course was low point of meal but all the rest was wonderful

Second time to Allium in 3 weeks but this time at lunchtime for my birthday. Was interested to see if quality of food or service went down as lunch rather than dinner. All I can say is that the food was awesome, my wife ate off the £10 two course set menu and I off the £19.50 three course. Value for money can not be over stated. The service was impecable and on par with dinner service. I thought to myself as I watched people walk by outside not noticing this place, you fools. Simply wonderful

I have been to some restaurants which have had a reputation for being the best and still found the one thing that just made it not perfect. What truly suprised me about Allium was that it encaspulated everythng that is good that I had ever experianced in a top class restaurant. The food and service was of the best I have ever experianced and matched Le Manoir but managed to be a quarter of the price. My very small grumble is that parking is in the town centre. Both I and my wife will return.
