And modern day Bennetts and Darcys certainly won’t feel out of place in the hotel’s elegant Culpeper’s dining room. With more than a nod to the history of the building but with a sleekly contemporary edge the space is cool and clean with antique portraits on the wall and single dusky roses adorning tables. Allium in Fairford, Gloucs, is a stylish restaurant that paints your plate through its artistic presentation of good food. The menu is wide and appealing and the service is professional and discreet. The wine list is approachable. We much enjoyed our visit for Sunday lunch and would recommend it.

Culpeppers at Chilston Park for lunch was a fantastic midweek treat. The restaurant was quiet but the food and service were excellent. The Goats Cheese Brulee starter was original and very tasty.
