Gastro Pub
Leave your report cards and school books at home. From the chefs on the line with silver-studded ears and mohawk hairdos, to the inked-up, decked-out bar staff mixologists shaking and stirring some of the most creative cocktails, we’re all dropouts here. Culinary Dropout serves the very best in unique gastro-pub fare, and quietly seeks out future musical venue superstars who wouldn’t mind being paid at the bar in whiskey and pretzel bites. We’re not easily definable and even harder to forget. And we did that on purpose so you could come and hang out. So seriously, come and hang out this weekend.

Took our young kids along, and they loved it as much as we did. Food was great, and there were activities to keep them busy- watching others play ping pong and bags. Would definitely recommend!

I would recommend it the restaurant but our waiter left a lot to be desired. He wound check on the two other tables directly in front of us and then turn around and go inside and not even look our way to acknowledge us. We had to ask him twice for a cup of water and had to wait repeatedly for refills. He also had my kids lunches brought out first but we kept waiting on two meals for adults and when we asked him about it he said that he had the kids meals brought out first for them but never told us anything. If you’re going to do that then tell us otherwise we just think someone forgot about our food.

This was my first time here and it was amazing. My friend recommended it. The waitress was friendly and the food was unbelievable. I ordered the ravioli with grilled chicken added and my friend ordered the salmon avocado toast. Both were yummy and presentation was incredible. Savory food. Lots of beer choices and drinks. Family friendly atmosphere for sure with games and cozy tables. But a good place for college age and older adults as well
Definitely going back

Our food was delicious, we had a good variety from the menu (spicy vegan curry, squash ravioli, and ribs) and while the food was excellent, it was quite loud. We sat outside thinking it would have been quieter (I read the reviews before going so I had an idea of what to request for seating) and we were sorely mistaken. We couldn't hear the server at all when he would talk to us, I had to ask several times for the same items before it was brought to the table( straw, napkins, ect.) It was great food and atmosphere, just quite loud and the server was quite forgetful which put a damper on the evening because I felt like a nag asking for basic items repeatedly. I would suggest it because of the food alone.

Excellent food! Service was okay; there was a long wait for cocktails. Atmosphere is very fun and hip. Live music was really nice. We had 7pm reservations, and we were seated right at 7pm.

I have a hearing impairment and Culinary Dropout is absolutely awful for anyone with a hearing impairment, with hearing aids, or noise sensitivity. The wide open space with concrete floors + the building materials and live music make it impossible for me to enjoy my dinner or hear a word said by my dinner companions. No matter how good the food is (it's totally fine, nothing amazing) it isn't an enjoyable experience to eat there when you have to shout to be heard. Not going back.

The food was great! Big servings, could've easily shared a plate but both items we ordered (fried chicken and ribs) were excellent. If you like deviled eggs, GET THE DEVILED EGG appetizer. Delicious!! Can't wait to go back.

Very overpriced for run of the mill food but what else do you expect from a place called culinary dropout. The drinks were great but also overpriced. The overall ambiance was nice but the noise level was rather high and I found myself almost yelling in order to talk to the others at our table. The service was nice and we never felt that we waited to long or had to find our server so that part was a plus.

There was a minor glitch with our large group reservation this weekend (location preference). The manager on duty did an amazing job to accommodate our group and our server was wonderful. The food is great. And service like this continues to make it a place I will continue to recommend and bring groups to.

The food was delicious. I had the turkey pastrami and would definitely be back to eat it again. This is a good place to bring your kids but it is better for a night out with friends or significant other. The service is pretty good. Only thing was lacking was refills on water. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone coming to visit Austin.

The food and service were great. If conversation is important to your group, you may want to try this place when it isn’t as busy (we were there on a Saturday night) because we were yelling to each other and still couldn’t hear over the crowd and the music.

Great venue. Love the dog friendly patio.

We are foodies so this review is not fair. Food was fine but nothing special though they try to elevate it above chili’s but it’s really not much more than that.

Service was average but the food quality was dicey. Had the fried chicken and the chicken was dry and over cooked...should have been much more juicy. Got the pretzel buns (which LOOKED) amazing but the accompanying cheese dipping sauce was hard/goopy...not hot or creamy at all. Dessert was a blueberry tart that was delightful. Server took care of the pretzel buns but trying to track him down to fix it...and to pay my bill was tough.

Very loud. Love the location...and the restaurant surroundings were stellar...

BUT...I don’t think I’ll be back.

We had brunch here and it was not very good. I ordered the chicken and biscuit. Biscuit was cold and gravy was room temperature and the chicken was on the dry side. The potatoes were good and hot I did enjoy them. I don't recommend going here for brunch but they have a decent lunch/dinner menu. The atmosphere was fun, they had great music and the service was good.
