Culinary Dropout - Austin
Leave your report cards and school books at home. From the chefs on the line with silver-studded ears and mohawk hairdos, to the inked-up, decked-out bar staff mixologists shaking and stirring some of the most creative cocktails, we’re all dropouts here. Culinary Dropout serves the very best in unique gastro-pub fare, and quietly seeks out future musical venue superstars. We’re not easily definable and even harder to forget. Great service and atmosphere. Wonderful Brussels sprouts!
Once seated, Michael was in point! Food and drinks were as good as always!
Everything is always wonderful. 10/10 recommend the jalapeño margarita and turkey pastrami sandwich!!!
Very good service and ambiance but the food is a bit average. Having said that I always enjoy my time there.
Had an awesome time
Amazing! Everything! We went or dinner and then back the next day for brunch! So good!!!
The outdoor eating area was great. They did a good job of creating space between tables while optimizing TV viewing. Food and service were also great!
Bartenders, Music, Hostess Band & Ambiance were all great!
It was our first time trying this restaurant in the Domain. We chose outdoor seating, because we had seen the game tables last time we walked by — that must have been pre-COVID because there were no games. They do allow dogs on the patio, as do most local places, so be careful! (My friend got bit walking to our table — no fault of the restaurant obviously, just a caution.) I don’t know if you can request the couch seating, but our reservation didn’t offer that option. We had a regular rectangular table with individual chairs — a little cramped for 6 people, but we managed. The staff was attentive, and the food we ordered was all delicious (two vegan/vegetarian dishes, fish & chips, pub burger, and pirogies. I will say that the portions are small to average, so, comparatively, the cost seemed high ($20 for a salad with steak subbed for chicken). Overall, the food was very tasty, and I would go back.
Nice atmosphere. Very nice service. Zach was even kind enough to take my drink back as I did not like it and change it to something else. Ribs were good and wife loved the salmon. Will be coming back.
Food, service and atmosphere was amazing. Go here often and food is always on point. Yum!
Try the wings! Delicious and not your typical style of sauce.
Had such a good time...we went two nights in a row! Thanks to Mason for dealing with us for 4 hours the first night and then Clayton the next night!
We felt rushed out. They had another large party waiting by our table as we were finishing. Very odd and rude. There were several other open spots but it was very evident that they were rushing us out. We had brought a friend and her family and they were very put off by this.
Food is always delicious! We make reservations so there’s no stress getting there and having to wait!
I definitely enjoyed our waiter, he was extremely kind and informative.
Service was great and food was excellent. Makayla did a fantastic job!! We had a wonderful time and will definitely book again.
I have been here 2 times now. Food is always great as is the service.
The drinks and appetizers were amazing but the Shaved Prime Rib French Dip that I ordered made me so sick that night. If I ever go back, I definitely will not be ordering that again.
Staff, food, and drinks were amazing, Very impressed!
My husband and I went to celebrate
Food was great and service was wonderful. Patio was a little loud for 7:30 on a Friday. Fun music but it was difficult to hear our friends at the the table. (Gah and now I sound way older than I am.)
Outdoor seating area was great, food was delicious, staff was wonderful. Felt slightly overpriced for lunch.
First time at Culinary Dropout and my wife and I loved it. The atmosphere is great, they had nice social distancing on their covered patio, and the food is excellent. The fried chicken is worth the wait!
The drinks were decent but overpriced. I liked the ambience and the appetizers were just okay. It’s a great place to grab a quick drink or bite with friends for happy hour.
Tried a sample of the tomato saffron soup and it was terrible. My husband will eat anything and he wouldn’t even eat it. I truly think it should be taken off the menu. Thankfully I asked for a sample first. Now on to the good stuff. The balsamic bread was sooo yummy! The onion rings were crispy and had great flavor! The best part of the meal was the spicy Korean Skirt Steak. It was that kind of good where you wish you were home and you could lick your plate, haha. We will definitely be back because I can’t stop craving the Korean steak.
Food was great! Service and environment was awesome!! Had a chopped chicken salad and it was amazing!!
Birthdays are always amazing at Culinary Dropout. The service, food quality and overall experience is amazing. Appreciate the attention to detail for the celebration!
Amazing from start to finish. Would recommend to friends.
Great experience overall! Perfect date spot, with amazing food, service, atmosphere and prices.
We stopped in for dinner on our anniversary for some fantastic food in a low key environment. Everything about the evening was great! We ordered the spicy korean skirt steak and the meatloaf along with a couple of appetizers. We will return!
Friends catching up! Great food! Great service!
Super fun and cute place great for happy hour or just bites. Food was delicious and will definitely come back for brunch! The hash was bomb!
Would not recommend to a friend honestly. Prices are high for subpar food and service. Always a hit or miss.
Excellent lunch. The steak frites are amazing
Lovely evening catching up. The drinks were very good and the meal was delicious. We had our dog with us and the waiter even brought him a bowl of water! We will definitely go again.
Had a fabulous dinner here as per usual! Had the shaved prime rib dip.. it just melts in your mouth!! Also tried the "candy bar" dessert for the first time.. Ooooo emmmm geeeee so delicious!
Perfect place to meet with friends for Sunday brunch!
