Cucina Venti Ratings and Reviews
We arrived at 8:50 PM for a 9:00 PM reservation via Open Table that was accepted. Sadly, the manager greeted us and although there were 15 diners still present, he said the kitchen was closed and there was nothing he could do. He was pretty rude and dismissive, never an apology and when we pointed out it was before closing, there were still diners present and they had accepted Open Table reservation, he said that was Open Table's problem. Then they marked my reservation as though I had not shown up. Ouch.
I have been to Cucinba Venti many times in the past ten years or so and have always had a good meal. Pastas and appetizers especially are excellent. I was a bit taken aback this time by the prices, which seemed higher than I remember, hence my "fair" rating on "Value." $114 for lunch (2 pastas and four glasses of wine) is more of a special occasion than an regular thing.
Cucina Venti is a great discovery that my daughter recommended about a year ago. The restaurant is very convenient before we attend a Pear Theatre production or a movie. The food is excellent and offer a variety of entrees. When I placed my reservation via Open Table and requested a booth, I was happily surprised that I received exactly what I had requested. Often, for many online services, this has not been my experience. We have introduced many of our family and friends to enjoy Cucina Venti's dining appreciation.
We had tickets for going to the Coldplay concert. Our server was so sweet and professional! The lamb chops were perfect!! Exquisite in fact!! Cooked to perfection, so juicy and tasty and bountiful!! We live in Marin County so not in Palo Alto ... but this surely would be our “go to” spot if ever returning!! Already have “talked it up!!”
I can't express enough how wonderful our experience was at Cucina Venti. The owner, Bella was so gracious and warm. She greets us at our table. Our waiter was also top notch. There was four of us there. Every appetizer was delist! The zucchini balls were scrumptious , all of our entrees were well made, done with quality food. We had the seafood paella, the sea bass with risotto, and the salmon with wild rice. All were perfectly prepared and presented. I can't wait to come back!every one here, including Chris, were so warm and professional at the same time. The ambiance is the icing on the cake. Romantic! Even the BATHROOM smells yummy and feels so good! PLEASE TREAT YOURSELF TO A WONDERFUL DINNER OUT!
We made a reservation here as the restaurant is conveniently located near Shoreline Amphitheater. Previous reviews were favorable. We sat in the patio, which was nice, but the server was overwhelmed. There was apparently no consideration given by the hostess and she sat too many people in his section. He did the best he could, but management should have stepped up and in to help. Appetizers were good, but main dishes were under seasoned. Two hours for a party of two is ridiculous. Definitely should staff appropriately when events are taking place at Shoreline.
Four of us ate here to celebrate a friend's birthday before a concert at The Shoreline. The zucchini cakes and calamari appetizers were perfection. My Duck Confit flatbread was a wonderful and everyone at the table enjoyed everything they ordered. Not just good food in an industrial area otherwise devoid of even decent food. This was superb food. A true gem!
Food Fantastic.!!!!!!!! We have been eating here for over 3 years and have never been disappointed!
The chef has a magic touch to make every item on the menu beyond excellent and served in a most appetizing presentation.
The prices are good considering this is in the heart of "Googleville."
Service is good.
The lamb chops are the best I have ever tasted....including Evvia's in Palo Alto.
We are regulars during the shoreline amp concert season. The food has always been good. In responding to yelp reviews, the ownership has changed up the menu. They added some nice new items such as the pan fried chicken breast (needs a little rework on the sauce). They had the most amazing basic Caesar salad. It was always fresh, crispy and nicely dressed. They have changed the salad to be grilled, soggy mess with toppings that are non traditional. I can understand wanting to change up the menu and try new things. A Caesar salad is a Caesar Salad. Hopefully they will ditch the new preparation.
This used to be our family's favorite restaurant even if it was slightly pricey. They have now (July 2017) changed the menu to be very small portions and VERY expensive ($$$ out of $$$$). The menu also has very limited selection compared to what it used to have. Pizza's are no longer, now they are "flatbread". Pastas are limited in choices. Much smaller salad selection.
So, now this restaurant is going for the high-end big buck, very foody diners. That's fine, I hope it works for them.
It was very expensive to dine for 6 people (~$200) and we left still hungry. We purchased our dessert at Nob Hill to try to recover from the sticker shock.
Love the bread and cheesy butter though.
Husband thought the lasagna he ordered was very good.
Daughters friends thought they would share the short ribs and what was put on the table was so small, we almost thought they brought the wrong order. Poor girls had to fill up on bread there was so little (there was nothing served with the short ribs. Just 2 little ribs on a plate without any rice/salad/potato/vegetable. Just the ribs).
We will not be returning. I fear this restaurant has chosen to go in the wrong direction. We'll see.
Seared scallops got high marks, as did the carpaccio & beet salad. Kale Ravioli was good but very salty. We shared a burrata appetizer that was excellent-- the bread!!! Bar drinks are awesome, and there's a thorough wine list. Attentive service, noise level good for conversation-- If you haven't been here in a while, try it for the new menu. If you've never been here, try it for before movies, Pear theatre, or Shoreline-- great location. Nice date choice, too...
We enjoyed our dinner very much and will definitely return to try other items on the extensive menu. Everything was well prepared. The branzino was excellent! The only service flaw was that our entree was served before we were finished with our salads, so we felt rushed.
This was a second visit and the food was just as good, but service was really lacking. I think there were too many large groups. We waited for everything! They should have given us free glass of wine or dessert...something to show they cared. We will probably go back hoping the experience will be better. So for now, thumbs sideways.
Great food, excellent service, and really nice ambience. Especially enjoyed the fried zucchini cakes appetizer. Great selection of Napa Valley wines. We came here for a business meal but I would highly recommend this for a date night or otherwise special occasion.
So pleasantly surprised by this little gem, tucked away next to Google Headquarters and across the street from the Century 16 theaters.
Food was outstanding & I highly recommend the scallop/fettuccini dish. Service was impeccable and we will definitely return.
A group of 8 people went for dinner on Saturday evening before going to a concert......our service was terrible......our food took way to long to get.....one person in our group NEVER received her meal .....our waitress told us the kitchen screwed up her pasta dish and had to remake it......REALLY.....Italian restaurant can't prepare a pasta dish !! We sat there for 1.5 hours and were late for the concert......will never go there again!
