   We sat outside on the patio during a beautiful summer evening. The Scallops were amazing, and I got the Carbonara which was also fabulous. Service was excellent and we were treated very nicely. this was a great spot and good value for the money.

   Food was really good! Fettuccine Alfredo with grilled shrimp was delicious and my husband loved the bolognese! There was a kitchen mix up and our salad came out a little late, but the staff bent over backwards making up for it! All of the bread was delicious too - fresh baked!! Would go back and recommend to friends.

   This was our second visit to Cucina South and we had such a great experience the first time that we decided to take my brother and his wife to celebrate their 50th anniversary. This time it was just okay. My wife and I order the meatballs for a starter. They were very dense, so much that when my wife went to cut into the one on her plate it went flying and landed on her white blouse. Not a good start! Next they somehow missed my wife's meal order. The waiter comped her wine which was nice but she felt her meal was likely rushed and just okay. She said the fish was good but the rest left a lot to be desired. I had ordered the same meal I had the first time which was scallops with risotto. While the scallops were once again prepared perfectly the risotto was not as good as the first time. This time it was heavy and a bit gummy. We didn't want to put a damper on the celebration so we didn't express our disappointment to the staff. Because we considered this to be an upscale restaurant, which is reflected in the prices, we felt a bit let down. We are new to the area and have yet to find a great Italian restaurant. We enjoy going to local places and supporting the community but when it comes to Italian we may need to stay at home. My wife is half Italian and thank goodness a great cook. We would recommend this place but it seems to be hit or miss

   Four of us dined together. We ordered the panzanella salad, arancini, and the caprese salad. The panzanella salad had good roasted veggies but no bread in the salad as is traditional. A piece of chiabatta bread was served on the side. Dressing was not flavorful. Overall not up to par. Caprese salad was all lettuce. Not traditional. Chopped tomato, small pieces of mozzarella. The crab arancini was tasty but it was slathered in Mornay sauce. Not appealing. Lastly, the fettuccini with shrimp was tasty as was the salmon special of the day. If you do not like it rare advise the server. Capellini with marinara was watery and the capellini shrimp Fra Diavolo was very spicy and watery. Shrimp were large and well prepared. Capellini was prepared al dente. Overall, due to the price point and meal preparation, we will not return.

    I had the King Klip which was the fish selection of the day. My wife had the scallops & porcini risotto. Both meals were excellent - both in presentation and taste.

    Had a wonderful meal at Cucina South! Split the tomato and burrata which was delicious. I had the fettuccine Alfredo with chicken which was cooked to perfection. The pasta was perfectly al dente! My friend has the capellini with meatballs and they were fabulous too! My only disappointment was I wanted to try the fish special and they were already sold out when we got there. Our reservation was at 8 to be fair to them! But we will certainly be back! It was our second time and it was even better than I remembered!

    The building is a beautiful plantation house on the southside of Amelia Island, with a blend of modern and rustic decor. The server was friendly and knowledgeable. Wine list isn't extensive, but the Italian wine we chose was very good and reasonably priced. Two people in our party commented that their lamb was very good. However, the sides were overcooked and somewhat flavorless. I ordered a chicken dish with cream sauce. The sauce was tasty, but the chicken was dry, bland, and very small. It looked like it had been boiled? Overall, the ambiance was great, the service was wonderful, but the food was less than we expected.

    It was our first time eating at Cucina South and it was absolutely wonderful. I had no idea this gem of a restaurant was in Fernandina Beach. I would recommend this restaurant for a great date night, night, out with friends, special occasion, or a business meeting. Great atmosphere, great food, great service.

    My husband and I celebrated 17 years together and wanted a nice quiet dinner. This restaurant did not disappoint . The atmosphere was quiet which was one of the biggest features we appreciated. The Meatballs we had as an appetizer were delicious. ( I may have liked them the most ) My husband had the Fettucine Alfredo with Scallops. The Sauce wasn't quite up to his approval as it was not as rich and creamy as expected. I had the Bolognese with ground Buffalo. Zero compliants here as it was wonderful and flavor packed. Service was awesome. We would recommend this restaurant to others.

    Sadly, we should have opted for more basic Italian offerings instead of the crab aranchi and zuppe del mare. Both were over salted, especially the zuppe broth which was way, way too salty. Nice staff, good wine choices.

    This restaurant had the best meatballs I’ve ever had. The capressee salad was fair with not enough mozzarella. Otherwise the food was great and the price very reasonable. Service was excellent. I’d definitely return.

    We weren’t impressed, the hostess seated us at a huge table for 8 and we were a party of 2. There was an empty cozy banquette table right next to us. I guess we didn’t rate! Our waitress was very new. She left a lot to be desired. The food was good but not to the extent that we would go back.

    Ellen was a great server. She was very attentive and always checking with us. The meals were delicious! My husband had spaghetti & meatballs. It was delicious, but a little dry, so our server brought additional sauce. This made it perfect! I had fettuccine Alfredo, with shrimp, which had a delicious and perfect sauce. The shrimp were a really nice size…6 of them. I also had a glass Pinot Grigio, that was very smooth and delicious. The only suggestion i would make is to find a different bread than the one you serve. It is too crusty . A softer Italian bread would be nice. Thank you! Susan
