You can also enjoy an assortment of main course entrées such as the seared Ahi steak and Venison strip loin sous vide. Deli service is also available, creating an assortment of gourmet specialty sandwiches like the grilled vegetable medley, portobello mushroom and Tuscan grilled chicken. Drinks on the menu at Cucina include imported, craft and domestic beers as well as an extensive selection of wines.
Very impressed with the service here. The owner and our server were friendly, welcoming, and attentive. We loved the setting — a quiet neighborhood street surrounded by pretty old homes. And to top it all off, the food was great!
Dean the owner is very gracious and welcoming right from the start. His servers are very knowledgeable with the menu and pairing wines to whatever you are desiring. The outdoor seating is always a pleasure on a summer evening along with the Saturday night live music.
Perfect Saturday evening on the patio, with fabulous food, wine, and music. Starting with a frozen sangria cooled us down on a hot August night. The service was spot on, and we really appreciated Dean giving us a shaded table so we could enjoy our evening from beginning to end. Pasta special was delicious!
This was our first visit to Cucina but not our last! Great service and a wonderful menu. The roma salad had the best chicken nuggets and the cauliflower dish was wonderful. We shared 4 small plates and it was too much food! Appreciated the conversation with the owner and staff. Great wine choices and the Sangria slurpies are an unexpected treat! Cute outdoor patio too.
Was a perfect night. We were seated outside in the shade of a tree as the sun was falling and started with a frozen rose -- my choice -- and my wife enjoyed a frozen sangria. We began with the grilled watermelon and gem lettuce salad, which has an incredible freshness that went well with the frozen drinks and the evening. One of the things we love about Cucina is the extensive list of wines by the glass, which allows us to pair with the course. I had a wonderful fresh salmon and seasonal mushrooms pasta with a creamy sauce that paired wonderfully with a fume blanc with a nice minerality. Wife had the lobster gnocchi, which was a lobster tail out of the shell with fresh, housemade gnocchi that had been pan seared. The sauce included dried berries that add notes of flavor that were intense, surprising, and just plain "happy." It was a memorable dish. We finished with a very affordable scoop of housemade huckleberry ice cream and prosecco as the sun was setting. We enjoyed talking to Dean as he worked the front of the house, and Chef Ferran came out to serve us the ice cream and talk about the gnocchi, which was fascinating. He is a genius with berries and mushrooms while plating dinners that are lovely and delicious. This was a spontaneous evening, reservation made 2 hours before we arrived for an early seating, and it could not have been better.
Excellent innovative food, friendly wait staff and owner, very good value. Highly recommended to anyone who appreciates fine food at reasonable prices.
The menu is very creative. Delicate flavors. Great wine list. Outdoor seating. Our waiter Sidney was a delight.
This is a neighborhood gem tucked away in the Avenues that has a great wine list and menu. The menu has small plates, that are meant to be shared, as well as larger plates that can be a meal. We always get the seasonal flatbread. It has yet to disappoint. All their dishes are well prepared and well priced. (Both tuna dishes - poke and seared - are not to be missed). Their dessert options are few but well executed. Personally, I prefer restaurants with small menus that are well executed. Cucina fits that bill! They have patio seating which is great for this time of the year. Limited parking is available on their lot but there is plenty of street parking around.
The food was excellent. A superb and inventive menu and combinations of tastes. All dishes properly prepared and presented to bring out the best in flavors. The atmosphere was quiet, clean, straightforward, and simple. The service was very good. Overall, an excellent experience.
Fantastic food! Love this place.
100% recommend this place. From the food to the ambiance. Staff is attentive and welcoming. Anything you order on the menu is delicious. Perfect summer night hang out.
Excellent as always! Great food, great wine and great host. Dean has built something special in the Avenues. We will be back!
Love Cucina, we come for the Saturday night music and wine dinners. The food is fabulous and interesting. The menu does need a few more gluten free items and Joey you need to bring back the pomme frittes!
This little place is wonderful! In a neighborhood near U of U, it’s a deli during the day but a great restaurant in the evening. Interesting food, great combinations of ingredients, delicious bites! Extensive wine list, great service. Enjoy!
The food and service were both fantastic. Our group of six from out of town was blown away at the variety and quality of food. And, we caught the chef at the end of the night (right before close), but the quality and service remained impressively high. I highly recommend Cucina for anyone who values quality food but in a casual and personal setting.
Fried avocado was delicious and I like it.
Excellent food, very nice unique wine list and great service!!
Superb food and well curated wine list . Nice neighborhood ambiance. The owner takes a personal interest in all his guests. Highly recommend!
Another great time and great meal! Cucina never disappoints!
As always the food and atmosphere was fabulous! Creative, unique and absolutely delicious food is served here!
We are very lucky one of Salt Lake's best restaurants -- check out Salt Lake magazine's best restaurants issue if you want to confirm -- is also our neighborhood restaurant. We love dining on the front patio when the weather is nice, especially after 7 when the sun is going down and the whole patio is shaded. In the summer, they offer frozen rose and frozen sangria, which are a great way to toast the sunset with your dining companion. The menu is always inventive. Chef Joey is a wizard with fresh and wild mushrooms, so we watch for whatever features mushrooms. They have a mushrooms four ways seasonal appetizer right now that is just stunningly good. They usually have a game option and many small plate options. My wife had the gem lettuce and grilled watermelon salad, and it was a winner. I was in the mood for flatbread, and it was exceptional. I also had the vegetarian risotto with a variety of very flavorful beans, which was very hearty and made a great main. Cucina also has a very extensive wine menu with dozens of by the glass options. They also have very interesting flights that allow you to taste several wines as you move through your dinner. Dinner at Cucina is better for my mental health than any spa. I end the evening relaxed and sated.
Food was especially good &
Everything was excellent! Dean runs such a welcoming place and Chef Joey has the menu dialed in! Loved it!
New menu including venison and partridge is excellent. Fabulous flavors. Joey is an amazing chef. The team is very friendly and service is super.
Wonderful neighborhood establishment. Wonderful and creative food, very friendly and inviting. Enjoyed our time with Dean and his team.
I’ve been to Cucina numerous times and it’s my all-time favorite restaurant in SLC! Dean hired THE best chef in Utah! The staff is attentive and the ambience reminds me of a local European restaurant I used to go to when I lived in Europe! Love, love, love Cucina!
We love the great neighborhood atmosphere and the great food at Cucina. Dean and his staff are warm and friendly, and the chef is always trying out new flavor combinations. Cucina is a gem !
Good food, friendly server
Cucina is my family's favorite place to eat and gather in Salt Lake City. The food is wonderful and the service is warm and friendly.....and always responsive.
the best service. great ambience. food is 4 because we are spoiled from NY and have expectations that are probably too high but overall pretty good! I just wish they would indicate on the menu when dishes are spicy.
This restaurant has to be one of Salt Lake's best kept secrets. Everything we had tasted amazing and was incredibly unique. Fried avocado paired with a curry sauce, endives with hollandaise sauce and dates, handmade pasta with butternut squash sauce and mushrooms, and a chocolate lava cake with a spicy note.
Our server was very attentive and let us stay past closing time. The owner came by a few times and made a great wine recommendation--he was extremely knowledgeable and it sounded like he knew a lot of the wineries personally. Without a doubt would come back again and recommend to anyone who enjoys a good meal!
Once again Cucina delivers. Food was excellent. We had tuna, pasta, crab cakes and flat bread. It was all yummy. And to top it off port in a miniature chocolate cup. Took some friends and they said it will be come their new favorite spot.
The services was terrific. Love the staff.
We had 12 people for our Dine Around Group that meets once a month.
We picked wine pairing and a family style dinner. Started with crab cakes which were awesome with a nice spicy
Topping. We had a deep fried Alvarado that was so goo and stew center was cashews in a sweet sauce. Most amazing dish.
Also a fennel salad and filet medallions and crime brûlée for dessert. Everyone loved the wine choices too.
Would definitely recommend this restaurant.
High quality food and service. Great atmosphere. Always consistent.
We went for a birthday- Awesome food drink and fun!
Food is excellent. We had a large party of 9 people and the service was great too. Had fun with the wine cork display on the wall.
Amazing food and a happening atmosphere. I will definitely be eating here again!
Great neighborhood restaurant. Small menu with high quality ingredients and food. Strongly recommend.
Everything was fabulous. We will definitely be returning.
