Cucina di Pesce Ratings and Reviews
I made reservations a day or two in advance and we ended up sitting literally right next to the front door on what was perhaps the coldest day of the year. It was New Year's Eve with many people walking in and out, and smoke was coming out of my mouth when I spoke to my friend across the table. I told them that I had made reservations well in advance and asked if we could be seated elsewhere, and they said they could not accommodate us. We left without ordering anything and had a nice meal across the street.
Warm and comfortable atmosphere as well as great service by a personable waiter. The Early Dinner Special complète with a glass of wine cannotbe beat. Food is good especially the home made vegetable based soup that comes with the dinner. Perfect location when one is going to the NY Theater Workshop right next door.
I would recommend this place if you are into personal pizzas, but that’s it. Pozza selection was good and decent size for one. The main pasta dishes were served in little bowls that looked like wide dishes. $14 for a little bowl of spaghetti with tomato sauce? Not what you would expect. The Caesar salad barely had any dressing on it. The meatballs were good. Service was ok.
I had the fried calamari, the linguine and clams, and the tiramisu, and all of it was delicious. The ambiance was great except that there was a cold draft near our table. The food is cheap, especially for the great quality, but I felt that the portion sizes were too small.
This is not my neighborhood, but I went to NY Theatre Workshop a few doors down from Cucina de Pesce and really wanted someone to cook me some fish before the play. I did not sit "outside," but the windows and door were open so the fresh air came through and allowed a certain amount of people watching without being on display. Service was quick, my Manhattan on the rocks delicious, the salmon in mustard sauce perfectly cooked, as was the linguine with garlic and olive oil. It was just the right "weight" pre-theatre dinner for me, a pleasant place to be, and I'll be back for dinner the next time I'm seeing a show at LaMama or NYTW or the Public (just a few blocks away).
I have been going to this restaurant for over 20 years. I have not visited in the past 5 yrs and found it to have the same outstanding service and delicious signature dishes. My favorite continues to be the Fussili Sun-Dried Tomato pasta dish. My husband had the black linguini with seafood and it was very good as well. Lastly, the prices are very affordable even if you treat yourself to a couple of glasses of wine.
this is a really nice place to eat if you're going to the Eastville Comedy Club next door or you have a group of people with varied tastes. The earlybird special is a great value. Friendly and the food is pleasant and "user-friendly" for those who have picky palettes.
Party of 10 celebrating 3 cousins turning 70. Cucina telephoned that day to confirm our reservation. Table was ready for us. Our waiter Brian was a total professional & made sure our whole experience moved along smoothly. The Birthday kids were treated to specially decorated desert dishes. The ambiance and wine was perfect but the food was the best! Everything was fresh and beautifully done just like our Italian Grandma used to do. This is our place for family celebrations !!
Cucina di Pesce is one of the most affordable places to dine in the East Village; the food is delicious, the service is friendly and the atmosphere is pleasant and relaxing. I would recommend Cucina di Pesce as a place for couples looking to enjoy a romantic dinner out without an enormous price tag, or for a special occasion with friends or family. The atmosphere is relaxed enough for a casual dinner, yet elegant enough for a very special night out. It's a gem.
Food was good. Pumpkin Ravioli, Seafood Pasta dishes were flavorful and fresh. The bread & dip they served before the meal was addictive. The decor/atmosphere is nothing special. Location is perfect for the neighborhood theatres (NYTW, La MaMa, Kraine, Eastville, Duo, etc.). HEADS-UP: They only accept Amex & cash!
Great experience. We enjoyed the happy hour til 6p which was 2 for 1. They also have a VERY (for manhattan) cheap early bird special (til 6:30). I had Salmon special with pesto and brussel sprouts. Ordered a side of pasta (felt like I needed a starch). Everything was delicious and great value for the quality. Lovely waitstaff. Will be back again!
