We are located in the same building as the Amtrak train station, just opposite side, next to West End Wine Bar.
Cucciolo never disappoints! It has quickly become our favorite Durham restaurant. The food is sublime! Make sure to order the truffle tajarin and butter chicken. My husband and I think that the butter chicken might possibly be the “perfect” dish according to Samin Nosrat’s book “Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat”. Love that they change the menu with the seasons but keep some of the firm favorites. Atmosphere is lovely with the perfect lighting and low noise level. Do yourself a favor and go dine at Cucciolo. I promise you’ll return again and again.
Food was amazing and surpassed our expectations! Service was impeccable. Will definitely be back!!
Our first visit! Hostess very thoughtful in choosing a table for us that was perfect for our needs. Server Allison was great - and the wine, appetizers main courses and desserts superb. We will be back soon!! Thank you!
It was our anniversary and they brought us complimentary glasses of Prosecco. Very gracious and welcoming!
Quality of food is amazing and all dishes are really perfect ... quantity maybe a bit more especially for pasta... also a chocolate cake should be a must in the menu ... dessert list is poor ... again food excellent but service last night was miserable... 3 mistakes in a row ... wrong dish first , meat arrived that we were not done with pasta and was left in front of us , had to wait several minutes to get some oil
DELICIOUS & DELIGHTFUL
Fantastic service and absolutely divine pasta. Literally you cannot go wrong with any of their dishes!
Always an amazing experience and place to go in durham for some great food and drinks. We live in durham and have been freuqenting here since they first opened!
Had pasta bowls that were too salty and had too much fat. The dish needs to be more subtle.
The service was fine except they made a point about the two pastas they made there and we ordered one dish that had one of their pastas, and asked for a small taste of the second one and they refused.
The ambience is nice. While I would not return immediately I did tell a friend about the place and suggested that they give it a try.
Excellent service and excellent food, with a wide variety for those with food allergies
Great pasta. Great bruschetta. I really enjoyed the atmosphere. A little loud if you’re talking across a table to a group but my husband and I had no trouble having a nice evening of conversation and cuisine. The pastas (Primi) were all great. The Secondis were good but not needed to have a great meal. I will definitely return.
Anniversary dinner. Excellent The meal was excellent and fabulous wine selection. We’ll definitely be returning
The food was excellent. The staff was quite knowledgeable and offered suggestions for sharing plates among three couples. A wonderful evening!
Grazie! Era buonissimo!!
We sat at the bar and had great advice on food and wine from the bartender.
Excellent food (best in Durham so far) for a native Italian customer! A delay in serving the table with entrees at the same time was corrected with apologies and a full dessert for two on the house, very much appreciated. The place is a bit noisy but the atmosphere was happy and energetic. The service was frequent and pleasant. Highly recommended.
Great food and reasonable portion size. Great flavor and our waiter Alllison was great!
They will start losing as frequent customers unless they Change up the menu a bit more
Food was great and my girlfriend’s bday was special! Happy customer!
This was our second trip to Cucciola, this time for our anniversary. The food, from beginning to end, was exceptional. The only problem was making a selection from the menu.
I've been meaning to try Cucciolo for a while and finally got the chance to go for a girls' night out with a friend before a show at DPAC. It was crowded (Saturday night) so we sat at the bar for dinner. They were great about getting us our food in a timely manner so we could make our show. The food was amazing and so fresh, with several vegetarian options.
Great food. Great service.
Food was excellent and high quality. Wine list really top , service is a bit strange I would say but overall is great food and location . Is a must try
I'm glad I finally tried this place, but I don't feel any need to go back. I appreciate the homemade pasta (perfect texture!), but overall I felt is was moderately to very overpriced, paired with a rather unexciting food menu and an even less exciting wine menu. My biggest gripe is that there is no pasta with a protein option - you either have to just settle for pasta or shell out $40 for a plate of meat with a sad salad... there's no in between. In addition, their "famous" tiramisu was flat-out wet... perhaps it's famous for just being bad?
Excellent food and service! We will definitely go back.
Very authentic Italian food
All of the food was overly seasoned. Would have gotten 5 stars if not for the salt.
It was an awesome dinner and I can't wait to return.
The food was just OK. Nothing special. The noise level was quite loud and the child sitting at the next table kept bumping into me and my chair. The menu was very limited. That was OK, but the menu for non-alcoholic drinks was limited to a few Coke products. I originally asked for iced tea or cider which they did not have. The waiter seemed to be a bit on the snobbish side. When I made the reservations, I was asked if the dinner was for a special occasion. I told them that the dinner was to celebrate a birthday for one of my guests. I noted that it would be nice if a carrot cake were offered. Nothing about the birthday was mentioned and only the two desserts on the menu were offered at the end of dinner. I was greatly disappointed. It is not likely that I would return to this restaurant or recommend it.
I loved the bar setting, and the service at the bar was very good. The food, on the other hand was so, so. I had the walnut pesto dish that was modified to be vegan. That means the cheese was left out. It was bland. If you take out a key ingredient in a dish, you might need to put something back instead. Seems that the chef would know that.
Great location, food, fantastic service and wine! And a special attention due to the occasion. Kudos to the staff!
Delicious Italian food served by a caring staff..The pasta choices are varied and authentic. The wine list is fairly priced. And the 30 foot ceilings make you feel like you are eating in Europe.
Food was amazing. The truffle pasta and carbonara pastas so good. Really tasty bites of food across the board. Will be back!
Very good bruschetta and excellent pasta in thoughtful simple sauces.
Good location, nice staff but portions of food are very small including the $38 steak with the side of arugula not pasta. We had 2 very small apps, 2 very small bowls of pasta. We were still hungry so we ordered the steak. The flavor and quality of everything was great but just not enough.
Entres are a little over-priced. $38 for steak or red snapper. This is Durham, not NYC
Loved it! Everything was delicious and my boyfriend and I have decided to go every Friday night now !
Fantastic dinner, the fresh pastas were terrific and we tried 5 different ones for three people! The Tagliatelle with Walnut Pesto was amazing, followed by a close second - Cacio e Pepe. Would like to have tried more Appetizers, thought that menu section was light, and with such great food would like to have enjoyed some amazing bread . But overall it was one of our best dinners in Durham all week. Tiramisu was a grand finale!
