Cubano's by Mario
Step into Mario’s Catalina Restaurant and you instantly feel the hustle of the city fade. Soothing colors, soft lighting, crisp linens and fragrant aromas all conspire to transport you to a more tranquil setting.
While Catalina’s ambiance is undeniably appealing, dining out really is all about the food! That’s why co-owner and chef, Mario Flores, went to great lengths to create a menu of Spanish and Cuban dishes that complement each other.
The result: authentic Latin food masterfully prepared. Add to that attentive service and a chilled glass of simply the best Sangria in town, and you’re well on your way to a memorable experience!

Amazing food and great service. The wine is not great and way overpriced. Only issue. Otherwise a great experience.
The food was superb and very large portions. We ordered the vaca frita and skirt steak, both meals were amazing.
Fantastic as always. Never misses the.mark and Mario is always the greatest host. We eat here every time we travel to fort Lauderdale
Such wonderful people
Great snapper and oxtail specials
Always a great experience at marioa. It never disappoints and Mario is a great host
Mario's offers great Cuban food in large but stylish dinning room. The wine list is pretty decent and they are known for their mojitos and sangria. The Paella, Ox tails and Pork Asado are all great choices and come with white rice, black beans and fried plantains
Great service as always. Food is impeccable, from the Mojitos all the way to dessert. Always a go to when we have visitors from out of town.
Mario greeted us at the door and was very attentive. The food was excellent although Mario chose for us as we had never been there before. This was unusual for us but apparently not for Mario. The chicken, pork and empanadas were excellent. The decor is wonderful. It was a little odd not having an itemized bill. Mario also gave us gift cards to use for future dining.
We’ve been frequenting Cubano’s by Mario at least once a week for a couple of months now. The owner Mario is the consummate host - so delightful, funny, and generous. The food in INcredible! We’ve had the deliciously authentic empanadas, whole fish, paella, and our favorite is “Mario’s favorite” fried red snapper & jumbo shrimp in lobster sauce with a side of shredded pork and white rice/black beans. Always on the table is an exquisitely flavored homemade chimichurri of chopped veggies in oil. For dessert they bring an enormous tray of options, and so far we’ve tried tres leches, quattro leches, rum cake, and my favorite, tiramisu. Our dining experiences are always accompanied by Mario’s special recipe red sangria, which magically refills itself, courtesy of Dunea. Their white sangria and mojitos are fantastic too. This is definitely high-quality Cuban/Spanish cuisine, and we have not once been disappointed. You can taste that it’s made with love and pride - you almost feel that you’re dining at a relative’s house. The entire staff is so warm and welcoming. They remember you! So grateful to have found this “home away from home” for lunch & dinner.
Just GREAT! Mario, his staff, food and ambiance are all FABULOUS!! This restaurant is a must! Thank you Mario! We just love dining at Mario’s!
Incredibly delicious food and very efficient service. Thank you!
While on our honeymoon, we had a taste for a local restaurant, no chain business. We felt like family after walking in and had a fantastic dinner. Mario simply sat us down and said he’d take care of us. He took away the menus and we just trusted in his judgement. It was in incredible. Perfect flavor, plating and service. We were so appreciative of that bold move he made. We really wish we lived here to enjoy this regularly.
My reservation was at 9:15 and I was setting at 9:40 pm. It was 10:30 and the food was not served yet. It was a nightmare and I was with my granddaughter 5 years old, finally I had the food to go and my granddaughter got sit since the food was not properly cooked. Left the restaurant around 11:20pm waiting for the food to go a the end the food was not cooked.
The food was fine, but overpriced for what your getting. They sat 8 of us at a table made for 6.
Overpriced scam restaurant.
We went for New Years Eve. While Mario was the host with the most, when they lost our credit card he disappeared. He made the staff ask for another card. Never apologized. When we called the restaurant he hung up on us.
Food was great but you could staff was overwhelmed with the crowd.
Mario was charming, attentive, gracious and adorable!!
Food was authentic and amazing. Definitely a reason to return to Ft Lauderdale.
We’ve been big fans since we have moved here, never disappoints! Thank you Mario!
Night out with my husband
Excellent food and ample portions. Our waitress was lovely! We’ll definitely return to this fantastic restaurant! Thank you!
Mario is amazing! Amazing service with amazing good! We go around 3 times a year!
Mario is awesome. We couldn’t have asked for a better time for our first night in Fort Lauderdale.
Amazing restaurant!!! Outstanding food and service!!!
We enjoyed a wonderful Christmas dinner with delicious food and excellent service despite the busyness of the restaurant. Mario is very welcoming and an excellent business owner. We will most certainly be back again.
Food on Christmas Day was just average. Compared to other Cuban/Spanish food restaurant in the area, we had had better food elsewhere. Staff all seemed rushed due to holiday crowd. It was difficult to carry on a conversation due to noise level. We were seated at a table right next to the bar and heard the blender going constantly. We asked our waiter if we could sit at another table that we saw was empty and he flat out said no. Since we had already ordered our food we stayed. All the food we had was fried and greasy. The prices were very high for what was offered. Would not recommend this restaurant.
Always an excellent dining experience. The flavors of the food are incredible. A gem in ft Lauderdale
Love the hospitality. the owner was very attentive and the food great
The staff at Mario's is very accommodating. However the food, while acceptable was just a bit disappointing and on the pricey side. I ordered a combination plate. While both the pork and beef had good flavor, the shredded beef made for rather tough chewing. Each of my companions said that their dishes were "okay" but not something they would order again.
What a pleasant surprise my wife, son and I experienced at this wonderful restaurant. Not only was the food amazing albeit pricey for Cuban, but the atmosphere was only matched by the incredible attention from the owner and host Mario. This was more than a dining experience. And certainly not mami’s Cuban restaurant!
As always a great experience. Mario is a great host and the no matter what you order from the menu the food is great. If you are in the area you have to stop in and experience cubanos by mario
First time visiting. We went for my son's birthday. All the food was great and the service was just as great.
One of our most favorite places to eat...love the team, food and atmosphere....
The outside sitting area could be more private and have a better environment...but inside is wonderful
I cannot say enough about this restaurant and I’m a tough critic - the food was AMAZING, the staff was very attentive and friendly, the owner walked around ensuring his patrons were happy and taken care of. This restaurant deserves 10 stars, it’s a quaint environment with killer food and the nicest people you’ll ever meet working there.
Very friendly restaurant where Mario greets you personally. Great food selection and a very helpful staff, that won’t let you over order. Food was great and very tasteful. Highly recommended for some great Cuban food.
I love that restaurant they are the best Cuban cuisine. Their Mojito and sangria are amazing. Mario the owner, is super nice and treat people like family. It feels like home. Thank you Mario
It was like having dinner at a friends house! Wonderful food and service. Mario took very good care of us.
I eat out often and am always excited when I discover the “exceptional value” restaurants; restaurants which are holistically incredible and relatively inexpensive. While Cubanos by Mario is on the higher end of moderately priced restaurants, this restaurant is in my strong opinion the quintessence of “exceptional value”. The food is simply amazing and the service was WOW; the best service of any restaurant I’ve ever experienced.
Delicious food and very attentive staff. If I had one criticism it would be that the courses came out very quickly after one another and so we felt a little rushed. But Mario is terrific and on top of everything.
We’ve been fans of this restaurant for years, and it only gets better. World class empanadas and sangria. Working our way through the entrees with no disappointments.
