Birthday, the service was slow and inadequate.
Great time, love the outdoor space and I was able to bring my well behaved dog who sat in his bag the entire time. Food was ok.
Excellent Cuban Sandwich and patatas bravas. Very good Jalapeno Marg.
Definitely worth a visit!
Food is good and consistent. Service is excellent. Prices a little high for quantity. I would return.
Have been dining here for many years. This time was terrible.
Food was cold.
outside dining area was messy with garbage under tables.
waiter was lovely but he had no back up to help him.
Crossing off my list.
Great outdoor experience. Food was on point with the paella and pork chops
Such a good time on Thursday evening with my friend! We were running a little late and were still accommodated. The food was amazing, music was perfect, and the vibe was really great. Would come again for sure!!
Really surprisingly good after all these years. Highly suggest it here. Staff always very nice and the food is solid.
Cubacan is in a great setting in Asbury Park on the boardwalk. Outdoor tables overlook the Atlantic Ocean. Food is decent. Service as well. Mixed drink menu has some unique items.
I would give it ZERO stars if I could. From start to finish it was truly the worst restaurant experience. The music was blaring so loud you could barely speak. The Mojito was a joke. i would bet a million dollars that there was not a drop of alcohol in it, plus where the heck were the limes and the mint? This was Crystal Lite limeade at best.
The server was pathetic. She did not even know the items on the menu. I ordered Pulpo and she looked at me as I was speaking Chinese.
Now for the food. Patatas Bravas? Awful. They were not tossed as they should be. The sauce had no taste and no heat. The Churrasco was tasty but like eating shoe leather. They should provide a chain saw to cut it. The pulpo -- I needed a magnifying class to find it buried under the 2 pounds of barely dressed arugula and the paltry 4 pieces tasted off. The fish stew was abundant but the fish tasted soooo fishy I wouldn't want to touch it.
Then someone decided to start sweeping as we were still eating. I guess they just wanted to go home.
Go elsewhere. DOn't waste your money here. Honestly even if it were free I wouldn't go.
Overall the general service and vibe seemed very chaotic. Food runners kept asking to clear plates/cups before we were finished.
Cubacan serves incredible traditional Cuban dishes like Rops Viejo and also does magic with other food like the fantastic Bronzino we had. Service is professional and the staff is friendly and well informed.
Great menu choices ,we love the energy in Asbury Park . We will be back soon
Great atmosphere along with food and service
Cubacan is fading...fast. Likely a result of not being able to find help. Service was terrible, although I felt for our waiter - he was very nice, just likely that he didn't receive much training, and the person who appeared to be some sort of a manager spent most of her time flirting with a bar patron instead of helping the staff. What used to be a sexy fusion restaurant is beginning to resemble a beach bar in Seaside Heights - the seating is worn, any dress code is nonexistent (patrons in bathing suits while dining inside) and the hostess was wearing slippers (yes, furry house slippers)...not a good look when you're charging $30 for an entree. It's a shame because the food is generally good (though the bread basket app leaves a lot to be desired). Maybe I'll give it another shot in the winter...maybe.
Had a wonderful time.
This restaurant did not honor our reservation. The manager and the hostess went out of their way to tell my friend and I thought they could not sit us even though we have an open table reservation confirmation.
Terrible service period!
Server was THE MOST inattentive server in the world. He brought us the check Before our entrees came out, then forgot our 2nd round of drinks. Another server helped us. Then he came out of the kitchen in a daze saying “there was an emergency in the kitchen that he had to attend to.” Then brought us the check AGAIN before the entrees came out. We decided to pay for the apps and drinks and leave
Beautiful dining area and excellent food. The Paella was amazing. Would highly recommend to anyone in the area.
Great food and drinks! Amazing location right on the boardwalk. Churrasco and Branzino was cooked perfectly! Our server was super polite and attentive. Definitely will eat here again!!!!
The food was great. We had the short rib and churrasco(spelling?)
Poor to fair quality food, long wait, and expensive. Great location on the boardwalk and the ability to make reservations were the selling points but I would not return.
We need to get service staff back to work.
Ordered apps and dinner. It all came out at once. Was told it was because of the short staff. Ridiculous.
Food is still very good so kitchen on their game.
The womens' bathroom was not maintained well. The waiter was a little less attentive than he should have been.
We sat outside for a 4:15 reservation. The restaurant was quiet. A waiter walked by twice before asking if our server had come over yet. Then a hostess clearing the table next to ours asked the same question. The buser came by, brought water, and was very personable. He also went looking for our server. The first server apologized and offered to take our order, even though we weren't in his section. Our waiter finally showed up, acting like nothing was wrong. We were off to a bad start.
We ordered two appetizers and split an entrée. I asked if that was enough for sharing and he thought it might be too much. Wrong. The portions were small, especially for the price. Off the cob street corn was $12 and was maybe one ear. It fit in a very small dish. It was tasty. Octopus salad was $19. Again, a small portion, average taste. Lechón main course was definitely not big enough for sharing. I would've ordered another entrée, but by this point I was already not happy.
We didn't order cocktails, only iced tea. The server never offered to refresh our drinks.
A dessert empanada was a tasty finish and, unfortunately, the best part of the meal.
I am not knocking the food because of the poor service. The food was only average at best. Factor in the price and it's not worth it. I've eaten much better food for much less money. Our bill was $70 pre-tip. That's no alcohol and one entrée.
I would not return nor recommend this restaurant.
Service was sub par, started out with a rum bucket which was $20. All juice, had to order a shot to add to it in order to feel like i could taste some alcohol… my $32 drink did did nothing for me. The food was u underwhelming and the portions were small.I got the pork which taste good but was an appetizer size, another in our party got the Skirt steak and it tasted like Applebee’s and the other got Paella which was “ok”. Overall, spent $200 with tip for 3 people and felt like I was ripped off. At least I got to enjoy sitting on the boardwalk… Needless to say, one and done for me…
We made a reservation online to sit outdoors, when we arrived they rudely refused to accommodate our outdoor request. One lovely hostess created table outdoors for us however the seats we dirty and had bird droppings all over them. The manager was rude and not helpful.
Poor service, mediocre food, great atmosphere.
The service was terrible, the food was good. I was excited about going there but it was overall a disappointment.
Service was reasonable but not a lot of follow up. Food was mediocre. Shrimp overcooked and flavorless
Awful food- yuca was worst yuca ever ! Mojito was disgusting
Sat outdoors. Nice view. But all the seats, tables, floor was dirty. Old food left on the ground. Tables need a good paint job. Folded up dirty dish towels spread all over to keep the tables up. Service was Ok. Our waiter was nice, but seemed very new. He had to come back and ask if I wanted my soup to come out first or with my entree?! Odd. But food was good. A bit high priced.
I loved it! We Had appetizers and drinks and it was enough. Appetizers really good.
It was okay- your at the beach so I didn’t expect it to be FABULOUS but the dinner prices are ridiculously high for the portions but again, your at the beach so they can get away with $25 for a small portion of shredded pork with a side of rice and beans. I do not think I would go there again as I would prefer to try a different restaurant in Asbury as it did not leave a lasting impression in my mind
Two meals were delivered cold.
Daniel was great, food was amazing !! And loved the drinks
Just a fine place. Filled with people who wish to serve at all times.
Our server Elijah was AMAZING!!!! He made our party so much better!!
