About Cuba Libre Restaurant & Rum Bar

Cuba Libre features a contemporary interpretation of traditional Cuban cuisine and a broad base of authentic Cuban cocktails, including the largest selection of rum in Philadelphia. The restaurant’s interior has a beautifully weathered historical feel. The materials combine warm mahogany and oak, cracked tile, painted plaster, exposed concrete and brick, and iron railings. With iron balconies overlooking a courtyard, a dramatic 30-foot ceiling, and paddle fans turning lazily, the space looks and feels like a street in Old Havana in the mid 1950s.

The experience was actually a good one until we received our receipts and every receipt for our party had a suggested tip amount. 15% was actually 30% and 20% was actually 50%. It is obvious that someone is trying to deceive patrons into giving far larger tips that what is. It normally expected. So buyer beware, figure out your own tip and don't have too many drinks to be tricked into the tip scam. Other than that, food was good. Our server Vivien was a doll.

We both have started to watch Cuban video on Netflix, there are so many now. This place lived up to my expectations, the food was fabulous, the surroundings wonderful, and the coffee spectactular.

The experience was beyond expectation. The food was unbelievable. Plantain chips are baked in-house and are a must have. i decided to not look at the menu and pick the first thing i looked at which was probably the best spicy chicken i've ever eaten. i will make this my must visit spot in philly.

Very friendly host staff. Sat us shortly after we checked in. I had the Citrus Chicken and it was moist, full of flavor and cooked to perfection. The mashed potatoes were a little spicy and the brocolini was not over cooked. My wife had the Pork chop which was over cooked. We had the red Sangria and it was very good.

This place was an awesome find! I went with my girlfriend after a day in historic Philly. I had the Ropa Vieja dish which was absolutely fantastic. We had a couple drinks at the bar, and I could see why their known for their Mojitos. The scenery inside is absolutely amazing, and I would come back every weekend.

Hopping for Halloween. Great food with a flair; super service.
My only regret, it was too noisy and thus hard to hear the conversation at our table.

On our way to the Arden Theater! The food was spectacular, we had thebrunch Tapas and found that the little tiny portions were really great big portions! We rolled out of the restaurant more than satisfied and had a lovely time. We recommend everything on the menu and the the drinks were fabulous too! Try the Havana Hottie, you won’t be disappointed.

We went here for dinner with my teenage daughter after the matinee show on Sunday in Arden. Food was very average . Out main entry dishes came in 10 min which made me wonder how can you do them well that fast. Fish was very average
and chicken was slightly undercooked . The service was decent and we got 10$ off our bill as Arden theater goers .

This is a fun place that really does emulate Cuban street scene. Our waitress was very attentive. We had a theater ticket so they served everything promptly. I thought the manager walking around talking to his lapel phone was a bit off-putting but whatever !

Had reservations for a late lunch with family. Pineapple guac and the chips with the trio of dips were great starters. Everyone ordered something different for entrees so we all got a little taste of everything. I had the Vacio Steak Argentina and it was pretty good (a little tough with a bit too much finishing oil), but everyone else's meals were better. The Pio Pio, Ropa Vieja, Del Mar, and Vegetariano were excellent. We also had desserts and coffee all top notch. You really can't go wrong here. Apps, drinks, entrees, desserts, and coffee for less than $50 a head was reasonable too. Great experience and will definitely be back.

I've been to Cuba Libra several times and the food and service is consistently good. I'm allergic to cilantro, which can be a problem - but her the servers work with me to find delicious dishes without it. I'm never at a loss for things to eat. Our server, Rebekah was excellent! She was charming, responsive and was especially careful about my allergies.

There was a hair in the food, one of this dishes was cold and the staff was mediocre for the price. The manager did come over and offer something else, but the overall experience had already been rueined. Probably won't be back for dinner. Went based on a friend's recommendation.

We celebrated our daughter’s birthday at Cuba Libre. We ate in the upstairs level which was quiet and comfortable. Our server David was great. He provided excellent suggestions and wasn’t phased at all by our having eaten a late lunch and needing help with choosing celebratory food and drink that wasn’t too filling. The paella was delicious and we shared it. There were many young people there. It’s clearly popular among the twenty-something age group.

food is always unbelievable at Cuba Libre. Having said that, service was slightly below what I have come to expect from Cuba Libre. It took a little while longer thank usual for our drinks to come out and the incorrect appetizers and dinner were brought to our table. The place was not overwhelmingly busy for a Saturday evening, so I am not sure what the issue was. Regardless, the quality of our meals is always top notch.

This was our first ever dine at Cuba Libre. My friends and I love to visit different restaurants for ladies' night out, therefore we picked your establishment. Everything was great; food was delicious and my mango partron margarita was amazing! Amy provided us with great service. A host team (Julianna) walked by our table and asked if everything was okay, and I'm uncertain as to why she asked; however, it was nice of her to have asked. We did have a minor problem and I explained it to Julianna and I must say she demonstrated the art of recovery. She listened to my concern, apologized and reacted to the problem. She even took a step further by getting the server Amy involved. I really, wholeheartedly appreciate such amazing experience. How Julianna took action to fix the issue we had really showed very high standard! Riza stopped by to check on us and again, we appreciated that as well! We will most definitely come back. A very special thanks to your staff; Amy, Julianna, Riza (General Manager) and the two male managers who provided free shot of mojitos and complimentary of one cocktail.

The staff was very courteous but I did have a hard time relaxing. The dining area was a little cramped so I keep my chair close to the table ,to avoid blocking the aisle and getting my chair bumped. Our table rocked (uneven legs) which our waitress placed an object under which helped. The table rocked less but still rocked. I did not want to trouble her about it a second time (that was on me). My mojito was weak. It was good but my wife ,who is not a "drinker", ordered a second one. If she has a second drink; the first one was virgin. The lighting was dim ,I really had a hard time reading the menu. I used my phone light but I still missed something on the menu that I would have ordered (that was on me also). In spite of all that I will go back. I'm sure things will be better.
