About Cuba Libre Restaurant & Rum Bar - Atlantic City

Cuba Libre Restaurant & Rum Bar - Atlantic City Ratings and Reviews
The waitress tried rushing us through and seemed bothered that we wanted to order dinner after our apps. Service was terrible. My son and his fiance ordered the "for 2" dish and they didn't even serve them plates to eat on. We had to request dishes.
Would not go back.
I love the old school Cuban decor of this restaurant. The drinks are delicious and very strong! My husband and I ordered the skirt steak with yucca fries and it was very good, but the steak was not great. It had a gravy on top that I was not expecting. The wait staff is attentive and the dessert was delish! We ordered the tres leches cake to share. We would return, but I wouldn't order the skirt steak.
Ambiance and environment was superb. This is our first time visiting this restaurant, let alone Atlantic City. It was a great special occasion to celebrate. Best Mango mojito my girlfriend and I ever had. Great variety of Latin food. Service was quick. Only slight issue was our server would disappear often and wouldn't be as attentive. But he made up for it as he was a very friendly person. Friendly staff and very accomdating. Would come here so much if there were Cuba libres in NYC. Will come back when we visit AC
We enjoyed this comp meal from Tropicana but found a few things disappointing. My fiancé’s red snapper arrived but my steak did not. I told him not to wait to eat. We had asked for no curry sauce. One piece of fish was fine but the other was very spicy. My fiancé was almost done with his meal when I finally saw our waitress and asked where my steak was. She went and got it from the kitchen. The steak was delicious and worth the wait, but have never had two entrees served so far apart. When dessert was brought out, the waitress was no where around to order coffee and tea. The next time we saw her was to give us the bill.
I have been attending Cuba Libre for 10 years and I never ordered the table service until this past 11/18 to celebrate my birthday. I was impressed in the way we were treated and the VIP treatment. Trust me im doing it again.
I love Cuba Libre . I want to thank the staff and the person that took my order over the phone.
She was really nice and attentive,
The food was great and so was our server. However, it was very dark for me and as we were eating dinner they were packing up tables around us to pack up for their nightclub scene. That made us feel rushed and they should wait to pack up tables until people are done eating.
Food was ok. But did not have the traditional taste I expected. The steak I ordered was rubbery even after being put on grill a second time couldn't eat it. Appetizers were good. The night club I must give two thumbs down not enough seating capacity. I probably won't go again.
Previous visits to Cuba Libre were good to excellent. However this visit was extremely disappointing. The food was bland and overpriced. My empanadas were all air & crust . They were about $13,for two pockets of fried air. My fish was steamed....not grilled or baked as per the menu. It was tasteless....a little mango on top didn't help. My husband ordered the Puerco Cha Cha Cha .....supposedly three cuts of pork including sirloin. It was a fatty vertebrae with some pork belly and a half dollar round of meat for $26. We were also shocked at the cost of a pitcher of Sangria that jumped from $27 last trip to $40. We will not return.
My husband and I were looking for a place to eat dinner as we were celebrating my birthday in AC. This was a great find and being from the carribean ourselves, the flavors and style of cuisine reminded us of home. The atmosphere, décor, the drinks were really great. Our sever Kelly was well-informed and very pleasant. I do recommend that you try the mango mojitos. The restaurant becomes a night club at night and we went to check it out later that night. It was pretty good as well but be aware that it is mostly spanish music so practice your bachata and salsa.
There was just the right amount of variety of food and everything our party had was delicious, but the ambiance was not our cup of tea. The red-tint lighting above us made everything, including the menu and food, have a red glow to it. Additionally, the overall lighting in the restaurant was too dark and dim, so we had a hard time reading the menu. The lighting is perfect for a cozy and or romantic date night, but if you want to be able to read the menu and see your food, this is not the place for you.
My mojito was great! Had the crab guac and coconut crab fritters- both very good- wasn't offered the chef's tasting menu at all- even tho dinner reservations were at 7- what's up with our waiter Chris??? Dinner was the Churrasco a la Cubana- a very fatty skirt steak which was a challenge to cut- my partner had the Seafood Paella- which looked great but was luke warm- took awhile for a glass of wine to be brought over-
Overall- it was just ok- service was fair- dinner was fair- but made the best of it- looking forward to going to Carmine's next door instead from now on
