Cuba Libre Restaurant & Rum Bar - Atlantic City Ratings and Reviews
We were staying the night at the Tropicana hotel in Atlantic city and gave this restaurant a try. We were pleasantly surprised by the menu options and the exotic cocktails. Each of us ordered a tapa or appetizer and were plenty full! Everything tasted fresh and made to order. It was not out of this world good but it was true to its cuisine and allowed for a great evening out with friends! Our server was also very knowledgeable of the menu and attentive to our needs.
Cubre Libre is our go-to restaurant for a different and tasty meal, especially when with friends where a variety of food choices is important. The entire experience is enjoyable. Not the cheapest place for dinner but not expensive considering what you could pay for a fine dining experience in Atlantic City.
We had a great time here and couldn’t get enough of the passion fruit mojitos. All of the staff was friendly and accommodating to our large group. We tried a bunch of items on the menu and they were all delicious. I especially enjoyed the Ropa Vieja. You should definitely check this place out.
We enjoyed Cuba Libre for our anniversary dinner, the food was great! My husband ordered the chef’s 15 course tasting menu so we tried so much amazing food. Our server was wonderful, very knowledgeable and explained all the foods and sauces to us. Highly recommend.
If I have one good thing to say about this place, I have to give credit to the food. All plates were pleasantly flavorful and true to Cuban roots in seasoning. However, the service, is a different story. My poor service experience began over the phone the day the of reservation. During the confirmation call, I reassured they were aware we were celebrating a birthday as it was also stated in the reservation through open table. I inquired about birthday festivities such as desserts and happy birthday announcements. The hostess quickly spoke over me and with a very hostile tone informed me, “no we’re not going to sing or announce happy birthday because no we just don’t do that”. Though I was offered an alternative, such as choosing a dessert in advance and having it brought out towards the end of the dinner, I believe things should have been worded differently. Act like you care a bit. Fast forward to the actual dinner, our server, Cynthia, seemed more concerned about following a server script instead of actually listening to what we wanted. For a restaurant enduring a slow night with what appeared to be less than 10 tables occupied, you would think there would be a little more engagement or effort to make a more personable experience. In the end, I never received the birthday dessert that was requested in advance. I had to inquire Cynthia about it again, despite it being noted on open table and over the phone. Once again, I was spoken to with a very hostile tone and was asked, “well do you still want it?” She proceeded to retrieve the birthday dessert but was clearly more interested in rushing to get her side work done and close out. The special birthday moment was lost and no apologies were even offered.
I drove two hours into Atlantic City for this event expecting a great special time and left very disappointed.
In the past we have enjoyed Cuba Libre. I do not hear well and usually they honor my request to sit next to my husband (or catty corner). This time they did not. Despite seeing many empty tables upstairs and down, the hostess said she had nothing. We were stuck in the back room with a loud child who ran around.
When my meal came out it was cold so I sent it back and my husband ate his warm as he should and then when mine came back much later I was eating alone. The ribs were not tender so this New Years Eve dinner was not a good one.
In retrospect, the personnel there was neither warm nor friendly and it should have been a festive occasion so were were very disappointed.
New Years Eve/31st Wedding Anniversary, spur of the moment trip to Atlantic City, just decided to go late Friday night ... opened up app late Friday night searching for place near Tropicana to get dinner reservations near 7 and be done to watch fire works. CL popped up.... I like Cuban food , prefer rum when I drink... booked at 7 ! Lovely lovely evening. Food was awesome....and the monitors dangerously delish! I had 3.....! Overall it was awesome! Totally rocked for our 31st anniversary! Moderately priced. Be adventurous! You will enjoy whatever you choose I am sure of!!!
The food was delicious, the service was great also, the only thing that we did not like is when we can back at 11am for the dancing, the only way to be able to seat it was if we bought a bottle , it was so expensive , we stand for 4 hrs , that is the only thing that has change since I came back , we r coming from Pa to stand for that long it was bad , so we left early
My husband and I went here for Christmas dinner. Every year, we take the 20 minute drive to AC for Christmas dinner, just the two of us. No kids, no crazy relatives, no chaos and no stress. This year we tried Cuba Libre and we were not disappointed. Phenomenal service and spectacular food! The smell of the wood grill is unbelievable. TRY THE GUAVA RIB APPETIZER. You will not be disappointed. We had no room for dessert though. Maybe next year.
Knowledgeable friendly waitress, the complimentary toast and sweet butter was good. Ordered the shrimp cocktail for appetizer and it was delicious. My girlfriend and I ordered the gaucho for the entree and although the steak was good, we felt there was something missing like another side besides those onion rings but all in all we enjoyed Cuba Libre.
The waitress tried rushing us through and seemed bothered that we wanted to order dinner after our apps. Service was terrible. My son and his fiance ordered the "for 2" dish and they didn't even serve them plates to eat on. We had to request dishes.
Would not go back.
I love the old school Cuban decor of this restaurant. The drinks are delicious and very strong! My husband and I ordered the skirt steak with yucca fries and it was very good, but the steak was not great. It had a gravy on top that I was not expecting. The wait staff is attentive and the dessert was delish! We ordered the tres leches cake to share. We would return, but I wouldn't order the skirt steak.
Ambiance and environment was superb. This is our first time visiting this restaurant, let alone Atlantic City. It was a great special occasion to celebrate. Best Mango mojito my girlfriend and I ever had. Great variety of Latin food. Service was quick. Only slight issue was our server would disappear often and wouldn't be as attentive. But he made up for it as he was a very friendly person. Friendly staff and very accomdating. Would come here so much if there were Cuba libres in NYC. Will come back when we visit AC
