Came here for brunch while in D.C. The place is like stepping into a Dennis Lehane novel (if you haven’t read him, do!). The atmosphere is terrific and the food was very good. We really enjoyed this spot and recommend it as a great place to grab a very good meal in a great venue.
Outstanding food, we (two of us) ordered 4 small plates and loved the samplings. Service A+. With all the amazing food choices in DC, I'd go here again in a heartbeat.
The tapas were underwhelming, we expected more for the price. They were thoughtfully presented, but they sounded better on paper than they tasted, which is unfortunate...great restaurant and staff otherwise.
This was our first time eating Cuban. We decided on several of the Tapas to get a range of dishes to try. The Octopus & Meatballs were very good. The Fritters and bunuelos we could of passed on. That will not deter us from trying this place again and exploring more dishes. Lilian, our waitress, was attentive to us.
We’ve been here twice and we recommend the red sangria or any of the fruit-flavored mojitos. The meat dishes are great, especially the ropa vieja. This is one of our top ten favorite restaurants in the DC area.
Great date location, there is live music and dancing. But can be noisy, so if you’re trying to talk might not be the best place. The food is AMAZING! You can’t go wrong.
Climate comtrol was an issue. It was very cold inside and which was making food cold in 2-3 mins. Food was good but we discuss enjoy due to cold food
I had dinner at Cuba Libre with my spouse last week. Our food arrived after an appropriate interval, hot and delicious. We have dined at this restaurant on several occasions in the last few years, and have always enjoyed it. We also had a fairly large group attend a dinner event there about three years ago - they managed that quite nicely, even with 30 people. It is very convenient to the Renaissance Hotel where we often stay for business. We will certainly have dinner there again next time we are in the area.
So glad I came here. The cubano was tasty and satisfying, the black beans were flavorful, amd the dulce de leche was so creamy and delicious. Will return!
Our group of 4 had tapas and drinks here before a concert and it was just lovely. Nice atmosphere, good service, good food and good drinks!
Close to hotel and on way to convention center. Had dinner on a Sunday evening so it was definitely a bit more subdued than a Friday or Saturday. Food was excellent as was the service. Waitress didn’t let Us know it was last call and some drinks we ordered didn’t get made. She made up for it by comping the drinks we had already had so no harm no foul!
Took an out of town friend here for dinner this evening as he wanted to try Cuban food. We had a great time, server was very nice & attentive, food came quickly and was delicious.
Cuba Libre lost my business a few years ago, because their cuisine didn't hit the mark. However, after a late night out, my boyfriend and I decided to give it a try again, at 1015, we were seated, and although the host left much to desired, the waiter seemed rushed, but that was fine with me, it was getting late, and restaurant was getting lively with music and people. The food came out pretty quickly and it was very good! I ordered chimichurri steak and my bf ordered lecho asado, both were cooked well and were well portioned! Overall much better experience than a few years ago, we will be back!
Server left us waiting a little too long, after he made it service was quick. Also, men’s room was a disaster. I asked to speak to a manager, he showed up, didn’t ask specifics, just grabbed a team of 4 to bring the room up to snuff. I understand things happen, so when the staff do all they can to make it better, that’s my kind of place. We will be back again!
Place is great. Food is awesome. Food is served quickly despite being busy. Make a reservation
Waitress was outstanding!
We ordered the empanadas, Cuban sandwich, and brisket. The empanadas were quite good but the sandwich and brisket left a little to be desired — good but nothing special. The decor is colorful and fun — sort of like an idealized Cuba crosses with Disneyworld.
The service was not great today. It took a while for our server to come in and take our orders. We ordered drinks, appetizers and dinner at the same time and bread since it was never brought to our table. The drinks then took over 20 mins to arrive, my mojito without mint leaves, and the appetizers and dinner came at the same time. I then had to send back the appetizers, which was a shame because they looked delicious. I started my meal and realized I was going to need more white rice, so I ordered the rice and it was brought out at the end after everyone on my table was done eating. Also, one of our forks fell and we requested another one and it was never brought to us, I got up and walked 3 tables over and grabbed one from an empty table.
I noticed the customers behind me had the same issue where their dinner was brought right after appetizers.
It’s a shame because the food tastes good.
My friends and I had a reservation for 7:15. We were seated on time. We didn't even get water for another 20 mins, and it was 30 mins before we saw a server. Who then told us everything we were trying to order they were out of. What a waste! We left and I can't say I'll go back again.
They had empanada day, there were no empanadas left. I had a reservation for 2, service took forever. Hostest did not care to put me on a seat after I talk to them many times, the waiter never came to the table until I had to ask the hostest to help. Food was not of quality for what I paid and service not up to par to what they claimed. I'm never coming back here again.
The whole experience was very disappointing. We have been to that place once before on a Friday night, and we were seated close to the dance floor, so when we decided to go again, i made the reservation on open table, and requested the same location, but when we arrived we were told they won’t seat us in that section unless we pay $200 for bottle service, which was not the case the week before and i never informed of that when i made the reservation, although i called ahead to confirm the reservation because i wanted to update the guest number. We tried talking to the managers but got a deaf ear from them as well, and we were seated in a back room which completely ruined our evening. In addition, the food was really bland and tasteless. I will not go back.
Family was in town and we wanted to celebrate! Great food and great service!
Outstanding! Excellent food and service. 1/2 Pitcher of Sangria is an excellent tasting drink at a great price.
a highly energetic atmosphere. Servers are very attentive and helpful wirh the menu.
Food is very good. the tapas menu is awesome. Of course finishing the meal experience with Cuban coffee is the best.
The food was excellent. Wish the mojitos came in not only a regular size but also a large size like Bongos in Florida. I thought the glasses were kinda small for cuban place. Delicious though. I had one of the chicken dishes and it was perfect. If you go later in the evening you will need to fight the crowds on Fri and Sat eve because they have dancing. We made reservations on Fri evening and were able to get in at 6pm.
On vacation in Washington. Great happy hour. Great ambience, decor and authentic Cuban feel with great food. Made our first nigjt on Washington lots of fun !!
The Food was ok, this was our 3 time at the restaurant and I got to say I was disappointed. We were a party of 5 and 4 of us have previously dine there before I ordered the Churrasco- it was the worst churrascos I had and it was more the cut then the preparation very chewy. The appetizers were ok.
Great food and service! Excellent drinks too. We ordered the sampler menu and shared it, very tasty!
Excellent place for a very nice (and quick if necessary) lunch. Service is top notch.
We enjoyed a number of tapas style items from the menu as well as a half picture of sangria. All were excellent and unique. The service was excellent as well.
Decent size plates for tapas, but not large enough to be a plate on its own. The building interior if very cool.
Food was delicious. Nice ambiance and the late night salsa with the DJ was fun.
I came here for the first time today and loved it! Our waitress was friendly and knowledgeable and checked on us frequently. The food came quite fast and was delicious, it’s so flavorful! The only thing I was a bit disappointed by was my mojito, I expected it to be exceptional because it’s a Cuban place but it wasn’t. Nevertheless I’ll definitely try to come back here. I would advise to make a reservation because on a Saturday evening the wait time can go up to one hour.
Fun spot if you are under 23 yrs old. Food was so disappointing. The waiters try their best in a loud crowded space.
The atmosphere is fine - lots of energy and over the top decor - but the food was not good at all. Nice pisco sour cocktail
Food was great. Staff was very friendly, nice, clean and pleasant atmosphere . I will highly recommend and return.
Food was great and good ambiance. Good selection of food as well. The snapper was awesome.
Very good food and service. Nice ambiance and good value. Great downtown location. Highly recommended.
Birthday dinner. Appetizers were cold. Croute tas were not made at the restaurant and we felt rushed. They placed ya at a too inside with loud people
Staff was friendly and helpful.
