Our sashimi style plates are started with fresh fish, olive oil, citrus and sea salt and finished with perfectly paired accompaniments to enhance the texture and flavor of the plate. Our modern Italian menu is inspired by local and seasonal ingredients to create unique and memorable dishes. We usually love it here!! Everything was great except our main dishes. They were Luke warm when they were served to us. The kitchen completely remade our dishes and when they were brought out again they were still not very hot. There was a large party going on in the restaurant and I think that affected the issue with our main dishes. Our waitress gave us free dessert and glasses of wine for the inconvenience.
I have eaten ar Crudo's several times and never was disappointed until this time. It took an hour from the time we ordered (group of 6) until we were served our first course. Service continued to be slow throughout the meal. The two cooked fish dishes (yellow tail and ahi tuna) we ordered were over cooked and dry. I had brought 5 friends that had never eaten there and was disappointed and embarassesed. I doubt any of them will ever try Crud's again.
I was in town for a business trip and being a fan of crude, (think Italian Sushi) I just had to try this restaurant to see how it stacked up to Esca in New York City. Esca’s Dave Pasternak pretty much wrote the book on serving Crudo and he even wrote a book on the subject. Cullen Campbell is the chef here and he did not disappoint. His Crudo is excellent and I feel qualified to say World Class. Local residents should feel lucky to have this New York City calibre restaurant in their town. I tried 5 different crudo dishes and loved them all. For the entire, I had Abalone which was also delicious. The restaurant also has a bar which specializes in mixed cocktails. Their selection of Scotch is also quite good. Last but not least, I have to give the table service high marks for attention paid to me and their knowledge of food and wine pairings. if your taste ventures on the creative side, this is your kind of place.
Btw, the restaurant is in the rear of a shopping center and not visable from the street.
I've been a fan of Crudo since its first incarnation in space shared by Steven Paul Hair Salon. Love the freshness of the Crudo and the superlative execution of all the dishes in the other sections of the menu. Hats off!! Service too has always been exceptional.
We found their food odd, full of interesting ideas that never got any editing. It was as if the chef never bothered trying his/her own dishes...
For example common peanuts smothering the delicate flavor of a raw tuna crudo. Yellowtail crudo that was exceptionally bland and non-descript except for the one bite that held an abundance of chili spice that sent me reaching for my water.
Perhaps the most frustrating dish was getting served a plate of unshelled shrimp with their heads still on buried under greens and white beans. I'm adept with a fork and knife and even resorted to using bare hands and couldn't pry the shells free. So I never got a taste of the shrimp I ordered. The waitress's response to my frustration was "some cultures eat the shell and all". Hmmm guess I'm too "simple" for this restaurant.
We won't be back, perhaps just a Friday night the chef left bus boy in the kitchen.
The particular area of the bar in Crudo is enough like a living room to draw me back again and again. These people know how to make cocktails! Our server was a bit snooty about the liquor descriptions to my less knowledgeable friend, which was offensive, but she got the order right, and the bar tenders do their jobs super well! Food is delicious, as one would hope. But it's sitting in a comfy corner reconnecting with friends that I rave about for this place.
The building looks cleaner than a few months back and tables and chairs are more comfy than before. The wine menu looks good but we all drove to dinner so we didn't drink. The appetizers ahi, albacore, abalone and sea bass are a bit small but taste delicious. For entrees, the kaui shrimp and pork belly are to die for! The risotto also taste good but I can't find any mussels or clams in it. For dessert, we have the teramisu and chocolate ricotta cake and they are the most ordered and they don't disappoint.
In all, we have a very good experience with this restaurant.
Crudo is one of the best restaurants in the Phoenix-Metro area. The ingredients that the chefs here put into their dishes are amazing combinations and the bartenders make some incredible drinks as well. I dine at this restaurants probably 12-15 times a year.
Once again, a fabulous dining experience at Crudo. We both got the 4 course tasting menu and every selection was excellent. The food is creative and delicious. It was the perfect place to go for our special occasion. We got there early and had a cocktail in the bar. They serve many, creative specialty cocktails and you can get an appetizer too. Don't forget to try the crispy pigs ears. We love them.
We went to Crudo for a get together with some friends from out of town. The menu was extremely creative and each dish had amazing flavor. We tried most of the appetizers on the menu and loved each of them. Surprisingly, the crispy pig ears were one of our favorite items. They were similar to pork rinds but with a much more delicate texture and placed in a spicy/sweet chile vinegar sauce. We also loved the various cheese selections and sashimi style fish selections. My favorite was the uni which also had a delicate sauce to accompany it. Overall an amazing meal at a very affordable price.
This is my third time to Crudo, and it has never been anything less than spectacular! The cocktails are fantastic, pasta is always fresh and wonderfully tasty, and the raw fish was out of this world. I recommend the pigs ears and the smoked olives for appetizers!
This cute little restaurant is tucked away in Arcadia's Gaslight Square. Maybe it was the heart-shaped bike racks out front, but this place has a very romantic feel. Its entrance is surrounded by plush greens and when you enter, the interiors has a warmth to it. We came on a weekend for dinner and it wasn't packed to the brim, but it was definitely busy. I would recommend a reservation just in case!
For dinner, we were able to order items a la carte or as a multiple-course option for a set price. Few of us ordered the 3-course option for $30, which was a decent price given that one item could be $20. Items not included in the course offerring were the sides and drinks. Few of the antipasti items were an upcharge as well. I was able to sample a wide variety of the items, and I thoroughly enjoyed every single item I ate. Most notable were the ricotta, gnocchi, crispy pig ears. The ricotta was actually a little bland, but the honey and oil accentuated provided a great complement to the ricotta, thus unifying the flavors. The gnocchi was a perfect soft texture and flavor. The menu has one ingredient listed as "creamed leek" which may sound pretty boring but it was very rich and fulfilling. As for the crispy pig ears, we ordered this item out of curiosity. It was delectable, and one would not know he or she was eating pig ear. The pig ear itself was fried. It was crunchy and not too oily. It was topped with pickled peppers, mixed in a sweet and mildly sour sauce. Also, I ordered lamb belly. I'm not sure why I did since I tend to like lean cuts, but nevertheless, the meat I did eat was very moist and soft. Essentially, it melted in my mouth!
Our server guided us and provided recommendations through the entire meal. She was very attentive, helpful, and quick. I think my glass of water was constantly half full or more, never below. That's how good she was!
Great food and cocktails. My friends and I were a tad bit disappointed as they ran out of uni that's on their antipasti menu. We did the course option. Our faves are crispy pig ears, yellowtail in antipasti and Kauai shrimp in seconds. Really like the drink called: beets, rhymes & life. It's very refreshing...dangerously good 😊
Had another great dinner at Crudo. The changes in the menu are unique as expected. Just a little off the love status of the previous menu.,but I love the continuing change in the menu!
We had great service, but no recognition of our 16th Anniversary that I put in the notes...
I hate to say this but our experience for Mother's Day was dreadful food-wise.
I normally love this restaurant. I've never had a bad meal, and love the imagination of the dishes. However, while the service and everything else was spot on, and our waiter was supreme, the food was BURNED. Yes I said burned. My husband and I had crepes with spring onions, and his literally came out burned. My was almost burned and so tough I couldn't cut it and it was not crepe thin.
My daughter's noche was not little plump dumplings but rather mush.
My grandson's pancake came out runny in the middle.
I had a Valentine's Day experience at Tomaso's once that made we swear off going out on V Day and I'd hate to do that for Mother's Day.
I will return to Crudo, just never again on a special occassion.
Our reservation was for 10 am, when they opened, however our group took forever to read the menu and decide, so I cannot say it was "too early and the kitchen wasn't prepared."
