This was our first time at Crudo. It was a Tuesday night so rather quiet and no chef's special, so not sure if Chef was working that night. Enjoyed the cocktails. We were set on really enjoying our dinner after hearing great things about Crudo. We had two "crudo's" for starters and then my partner had the semolina gnocchi and I had the squid ink risotto and yellowtail collars. Other than the cocktails, nothing was memorable. Perhaps would have been a better experience if a different night but won't be in a rush.
The chef is a master, the way he utilizes the smoker but making it not over powering is always on point. The "Crudo" or raw is better then any sushi place I can think of in Phoenix. If you've never been it's a must try for someone who truly enjoys food and enjoys being around a staff who feels the same and is extremely knowledgable on the subject.
I always love when an owner comes to your table to greet you and see how the meal is going. That always shows me the passion they have for their place, it's not just a place a service but a food experience. BRAVO CRUDO!!
Have had brunch here many times. The small Crudo jars are pieces of heaven . The wait staff has always been attentive and friendly. I have also been for happy hour. The pigs ears r so good...weird but good. The meatloaf burger was the worst thing I've had....tasted how I would think SPAM would taste....yuk yuk yuk. Besides that one item...it's worth a try
We have dined at Crudo many times and often take our out of town guests. Once again everyone was very impressed with their meals! Squid ink risotto always a hit as well as the crudos. We will be back again.
This place is a little hard to find, being on the back side of a strip mall, but it has a surprisingly nice ambiance given the location. The cocktail menu amused us--the names of the drinks as well as the contents are creative. I ordered the "Scotch Baio" on name alone, and luckily, it was delicious. Food was good as well--with the small plates options, it makes for a nice "build your own tasting menu." I would return to this place in the future, especially to try the whole pig head on the menu!
We had an assortment of plates for brunch - all were imaginatively conceived,
tasty beyond tasty and simply presented. I love this place. I'm taking another
group here soon. It never lets down.
We both loved Crudo's. We thought the server was very knowledgeable and very accommodating. It was nice we could take an item from the menu and change it to our liking. Our only complaint about this restaurant was the hostess, and she seemed to be more interested in texting on her phone than accommodating the customers.
It was my first time trying Crudo and it definitely won't be the last. My friend and I, each choose the 5 course menu at $55, which by the way is very reasonably priced. In all honesty, I expected the portions to be extremely small since it was a 4 course. However, to our surprise, the portions were a nice size and by the time we were finished with the 3rd course, we had to ask for to go boxes after we had a bite of our 4th and 5th course.
The cocktails were exceptional. The service was great. Our waitress was very knowledgeable when it came to the cocktail and dinner menu.
I wasn't a big fan of the interior ambiance. The decor was very nice and certainly was beautiful but I felt like my friend and I had to eat in silence.
Great spot to visit. The lamb belly was very tasty. If you order a cocktail make sure it's the no name (if you are into bourbon).
getting the optimal food combinations for courses was challenging. Some dishes were amazing. The whole did not sing because the meal didn't flow well.
We had heard about Crudo but never had the opportunity to go, we will now make it a staple for brunch.
Great food, creative menu and an enjoyable atmosphere.
I hate brunch. The typical formula involves piles of pastries, pretty good fruit choices, an omelet bar and cold toast. Crudo's brunch involves none of the above and instead offers a fantastic choice of breakfast/lunch items that are anything but run of the mill. I had the bacon risotto and it was excellent. My three dining companions each had a different selection from the menu and each was more than satisfied with their choice. It is a different place and I recommend that you give it a try.
One of the lovely glassed in atrium rooms is the place to dine at Crudo. They are reminiscent of "sun rooms" often built in large homes in the past; an old elegant atmosphere. The dining room itself is pleasant but lacks any sense of warmth or cosiness. I think some attention to the decor is needed.
I have eaten at Crudo three times now. I love snacking on the Crispy Pig Ears with wine while deciding what else to order. I have recently enjoyed both the Yellowtail with Mussels and the Braised Lamb Belly entrees and recommend these dishes highly. I see Crudo as one of true most unique dining spots in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area.
Tucked behind a mini-mall, practically on an alley, this was a great find on our recent trip to Phoenix. Amanda, our waitress, was knowledgeable, articulate, and fun. The cocktails were an interesting journey into unknown worlds of spice and ice. The food arrived hot and delicious. I highly recommend Crudo. It won't disappoint.
Crudo delivers on exceptional, tasty, quality food. The service is exceptional. Your plates are cleared immediately and your next course delivered appropriately. The wine list is great and the staff is knowledgeable about it.
My wife and I had eaten at Crudo twice, but not since the new menu. We brought 2 friends who had never heard of Crudo. We all loved the food, specialty cocktails, service and sitting out on the patio. Our friends thought we were culinary rock stars, thanking us profusely for introducing them to such a great place. We'll all be back soon!
Food was incredible, service was excellent, drinks were very good!
I cannot say enough good things about Crudo. Every we time we come here it is just a great dining experience. The food is creative and delicious. The service is always spot on. The smoked olives are the best. I have tried to duplicate them at home, but no luck. Wish they were located closer to our home because we would be here more frequently. If you've never been here, this is one of the best places in the valley, if not the whole country!
Crudo has a great bar in a fun space!!! A good bar program in Phoenix is rare! LONS Shadys and Crudo are in a league of their own ..... Crudo food is another story,, the emphasis on sushi like preparations is mysterious as the fish was mushy and fishy ? The salads are not clear or bright they are very one noted? But Crudo has a great bar!
This isn't my first visit to Crudo. It is always a wonderful dinner. Menu items change slightly some time (such as the raw fish condiments...) and each one in better than the last. The bartenders are all very pleasant and want to make your drink memorable! The best restaurant around!
My wife and I had a great Sunday brunch -- wonderful food -- new treats and all
wonderfully presented. The service was friendly and very attentive and the setting
could not be nicer. For us it is only a short drive so we are especially lucky.
Crudo is a sensational dinning experience. Each dish is inventive, fresh and delicious. My favorite items included: Burrata with pancetta over arugula, (this burrata is what heaven must taste like) , Tuna tartar, Crespelle (like a crepe), and the brisket with sausage, peppers and salsa verde. Others at the table enjoyed the risotto squid ink, short rib and butterfish. One quest was not enthusiastic about the pork belly as it was far too fatty.
The timing of each corse was impeccable which is no small feat considering there were four people who ordered 4 or 5 dishes apiece.
About the 4 and 5 dishes! It all sound so good it's easy to get carried away. The gals each ordered 4 items and the guys 5 items. We all agreed our eyes were bigger than our stomachs. (next time,
3 and 4 respectively)
Crudo is an exceptional addition to the Phoenix dining scene. The food and service are always first rate.
Hey! buy the kitchen a glass of vino, 2 bucks, it's on the menu, they'll love ya.
We frequent Crudo on many occasions. The food is always outstanding and the wait staff knowledgeable and helpful. My all time favorite is the Squid ink risotto. Totally recommend this restaurant.
The BLT was fantastic...the jam made the difference! Great taste. The crepe was so so, little flavorless. nice gooey cheese though. The bar continues to create some quality drinks. They are worth the hand crafted wait. Service was fine. Just glad someone was working on a Sunday. Little programmed, though was attentive. The windows provide lovely light in the various rooms.
I have to confess we are not foodies. The salad ingredients were terrific but the chef sprinkled salt over the top and I couldn't taste around it. The salmon was good but the serving size was like an appetizer.
We loved the inventive menu and service was top notch. Only suggestion is that the we were there for a romantic dinner and felt like we were in a warehouse. Not much charm or ambiance
Go for the food.... it was great!
What a delightful evening. The menu choices were unique and capable of meeting anyone's palate. We started with couple of appetizers and went to work on several entrees. We shared most everything. Marvelous experience.
Crudo is many things and it does them all well. First is the location. It is tucked away in the back of a vintage plaza and has so much charm. The French doors and high ceilings give it a feeling of classy comfort. The drinks are special and delicious. It would be fun to just sit in the bar. The food is a refreshing twist on Italian. I started with the yellowtail crudo. It was spectacular! The hot spicy taste at the end of each bite was perfect. I could have stopped there but my goal was to sample as much as possible. The gnocchi was the best I have ever had! It is one of my favorite dishes and now I know where to find it in Phoenix. I finished with pork belly. I admit I am not a fan of pork belly. But this was really good on a bed of creamy polenta. I think my husband would have loved it. My friend had a crepe and she kept talking about the freshness of all the ingredients. I want that next time! I like the pricing structure. I was able to try several courses for a set price but I could have had only one if I wanted. Service was extremely attentive but not intrusive. We didn't feel rushed. I sensed that enjoyment of the meal was the goal. I hear rumors that the Sunday brunch is incredible. I will be heading back real soon!
Cullen Campbell is a super star. What a feast one can have for a reasonable price by going the "coursing" route. The food is innovative and the seasoning surprises the palate. If one wants to be more social, sit in the bar. If one wants more privacy, sit on the dining room side. I don't understand the few reviews that say the portions are small. That's the purpose of tasting plates, novices. I tried to eat 5 courses and didn't make it past 3, plus pig ears. And I'm from Iowa where we would count on at least 4 pork chops per person. Best bargain in town. And there is nowhere else you can get an entire roasted pig's head for $60. Crudo rules!
Wonderful food, and a fun atmosphere, especially the small alcove in which we (4) were seated.
This was our second time dinning at Crudo and like the first time, we had a fantastic experience.
Like before we chose the pre-fix 3 for $35 which is a great way to sample many fine options off the menu. The menu is organized into 4 categories. Raw selections, Cheese selections, Grilled and Cooked selections all of which offer unique seasonal combinations to choose from.
Our wait person Lindsey was very professional and knew the menu well. For me that is a bonus as her ability to describe each entree in detail helped make my 3 selections easier.
The wine list is ample and has many great options from around the world at reasonable prices.
We consider ourselves foodies and Crudo's both times has exceeded our expectations.
Fantastic craft cocktails - return worthy on their own! We especially enjoyed our first course - we tried the smoked olives and the burrata and the grilled mozzarella. Three of us shared one delicious gnocchi dish and two grilled entrees. Plenty of food. Quite good. The light-bodied red wine we selected was perfect for the two ladies at the table; and our server was quite helpful in allowing my husband to taste wines by the glass, until she found something a bit more robust to suit him. We will definitely return!
Make sure to try the pigs ears as an appetizer. We have never been disappointed with any item we have tried on the menu.
Wonderful evening, fantastic food and the service was superb. Friendly and competent staff, knowledgeable about the food and wine. Very enjoyable experience.
Solid from top to bottom. Had the Pig ears, crudo butter fish, buratta, beef cheeks. Server was very attentive. Better than average wine list.
One of the best restaurants in Phoenix hands down! Everything was prepared to perfection. I highly recommend getting the crispy pig ears, brisket and squid ink risotto. These are foods I would normally never think about eating but I am so glad I did!
The flexibility of choosing menu items was nice. The items were prepared attractively and the taste and texture followed as well. Will return.
Crudo is absolutely one of the best restaurants in the greater Phoenix area. Chef Cullen consistently puts out excellent, inventive and interesting food. His menu changes, but the classics are always there. Whenever we have people in town who love food, Crudo is a must.
High expectations as this was recommended to us by a local chef. We had 4 dishes, and only one was memorable. The butterfish was fantastic! Pigs ears, gnocchi with deer, and the yellowtail collar all were average at best.
Bartender was great, with interesting drink creations. Don't think we will be back.
the prix fix was a nice way to sample lots of menu options. the crudo was superb--flavors were pronounced. the crespe (sp?) was devine and loved the yellow collar and mussels. the service was helpful, but thoughtful and not hovering. We felt appreciated being there.
