Great food and service make sure to have your wallets ready. Besides that come here and eat!!!
Great carrots and short rib
Fantastic dinner. No better way to come back from a month abroad than to sit down in a sublime setting with a table of masterfully prepared nouveau American cuisine.
A perfectly wonderful evening, from the unusual cocktails to the pull-apart bread to the food in general and ending with divine desserts. I wish it were a bit quieter, but that's the only criticism. We'll be back!
Once again, simply The Best of 2019 !
Delicious cuisine and friendly and attentive service make Crown Shy a very welcome addition to the NYC dining scene! Everything is great especially the Short Rib for two and the Satsuma Orange Ice Cream with Toasted Marshmallow and Honey!
I’ll be spending a lot more time in the Financial District now that The Crown Shy is open for business. I started at the very elegant, very lively bar with a fabulous tequila cocktail made with Rhubarb. From there I moved to a table that looked right into the open kitchen where I enjoyed watching the construction of gorgeous dish after gorgeous dish. The menu is ample but not overwhelming with lots of variety in the snacks and appetizer section. The mains lean more into meats than fish. My own meal started with crudo and hummus- both absolutely delicious, followed by charred octopus which was perfection. The service is friendly and knowledgeable. Located in an old Deco building on Pine Street, the decor is minimalist/modern. The feel is somewhere between casual and elegant. Overall it’s comfortable but at the same time buzzy. I will definitely be back for more.
One of the best meals we have had in New York in the last several years.
Food was superb.
Cena de cumpleaños
Best experience I’ve had at a restaurant in a long time. Can’t wait to go back
Crown Shy is fantastic! A large space but not too noisy and a bustling bar off to the side. Our meal was just great and the servers were cordial, warm and professional. Starter oysters with jellies cucumber were fresh and just yummy. i am gluten free and the GF toast was both crunchy and tender with tasty labneh. My husband said the pull-apart olive bread was delicious and enough to get him back on carbs for good. Broccoli salad was novel and tasty with pea shoots, cheddar, mint and a light dressing. Romaine with green goddess was so good you’d have it as an afternoon snack. Cauliflower was coated in rice flour, fried and served with a cherry reduction and parm-complex flavors that were a perfect sweet/savory combo. Short ribs were cooked perfectly-cut with a fork, no fatty globules but mouth watering with a potato spuma, chimmichurri and quinoa that our server suggested made a perfect bite with a little of each. I agree! Satsuma orange ice cream with meringue was light and delicately flavorful with perfect texture. Banana ice cream also had perfect texture and came with crunchy and delicious popcorn and peanuts AND the pineapple Pavlova was masterful. Can you tell we loved it! We live in the building and it will be hard to head anywhere else when we’re not cooking. Can’t wait to bring friends and family. Well done, Chef and crew!!!
Excelente lugar, buen ambiente, deliciosa comida.
Absolutely outstanding on all accounts.
Perfect for any occasion.
Great experience. Food and service were on point.
I came for a visit from out of town and Crown Shy was the one restaurant I had to make sure to try. We were not disappointed and it definitely lived up to the hype. The food was amazing especially the gruyere fritters.
Great atmosphere with high ceilings and an open kitchen that produces delicious food. I would recommend ordering +3 dishes than the number of people (e.g. 7+ dishes for 4 people). The only negative thing I would say is that the atmosphere was a bit chaotic at times with many waiters/waitresses concentrated in certain areas of the restaurant.
This is certainly a great new addition to the city's roster of restaurants. Beautifully designed in all ways - comfortable seating, nicely spaced tables, and a really striking design of menus and even matchbooks. And the food doesn't disappoint either. Plus, the warm bread that arrives once you've placed your order will make you swoon with delight. Perfect for sharing, we had a salad, some crudo, some pasta and a delicious short rib dish with a sublime mashed potato puréed with horseradish and the "burnt ends" of the meat. We definitely will go back.
Innovative, delicious food at very affordable prices considering what you get.
You can really tell when a chef really knows what he is doing! Kent is that chef coming up with unique delicious food that combines interesting flavors and beautiful presentations! The charred carrots, razor clams and lemon thyme was so wonderfully flavorful! Next we had the jicama, peas and pecorino, so refreshing. Following that we had the caramelle which had morels and chèvre, oh so good! The branzino was perfectly cooked with an excellent green tomato sauce. For that entree could have had some more bread to get all the sauce . Grilled pork chop was a large chop with very tasty mustard sauce. The Parker type rolls
with the infusion of olives and garlic were special too. Our dessert was orange creamsicle like with a toasted marshmallow on top, ice cream was superb . Even the coffee was of the highest quality. The staff was well trained and friendly
We will be back to try many of the other dishes.
Excellent food for a reasonable price and great ambiance.
Best restaurant in NY right now
Loved the desserts. Appreciate the complimentary dessert on top of our order. Must try place!!!
One word to describe, " EXCELLENT " for every dish !
Spent a very enjoyable evening at Crown Shy. Pleasant room, friendly, helpful and appropriately attentive service, solid cocktails, tasty array of food in nicely thought out portions and very nice wine choices.
The food was great, no complaints. Relatively cheap for high end restaurant in Manhattan. The only thing I didn't like was the feel/vibe. Seemed better for business meeting rather than birthday dinner.
octopus, carrots, caramelle pasta, cheesecake is a must!
Unbelievably delicious. Not a single bad dish. Everything from the complimentary pulled apart olive loaf with labne butter to the oysters, cauliflower, gruyere fritters, beef tartare, caramelle, glazed faro with oxtail and bone marrow, charred octopus, roasted short ribs (wow the roasted short ribs!), sticky toffee pudding with apple sorbet, and roasted banana ice cream were all incredible and great for sharing. The cocktails are amazing. Try an old fashioned or their specialty RIP cocktail to whet your palette and a Sauternes or port to finish the memorable meal. Tables are nicely spaced with an open view of the kitchen to allow for a comfortable dining experience. Pricing is moderate with most dishes under $20. The exception being the roasted short rib which is prepared for 2, but can easily be shared by more than 2 and worth every penny! I Everyone is welcoming, friendly, and sharp. Very happy to welcome Chown Shy as neighbors! Looking forward to being a frequent patron.
The food was outstanding and the people working there that we interacted with were so nice.
Beautiful, creative food. The flavors were all amazing— starting from crafted cocktails all the way through to dessert-- there is not a misstep on the menu. Try everything but do not miss the short ribs!! It is all amazing.
Amazing value?! What a culinary experience, fun yet high level. I would come back for just cocktails, or special occasions, or just a night out with friends. We loved it and were very impressed. Be back soon!
Everything from start till end was fabulous. Outstanding dishes such as beef, chicken and cavateli. But, in this restaurant i could not find a dish that wasn't good. It was like one dish comes and you think WOW thats great and then the next one comes and it only gets better. This is what sets apart a great restaurant from average restaurants. This will be a restaurant where i can proudly take someone and impress them. Highly recommend this restaurant..
Crown Shy is amazing! They did a fantastic job taking what they learned from Eleven Madison Park and Del Posto and transformed it into a much more accessible, yet fantastically delicious, brand new restaurant.
Everything we tried was wonderful, starting with probably the best complementary bread we've ever tasted. The dishes are well portioned and the staff is great. The desserts are all on point as well. Highly recommended. Go before more people realize what a gem just opened in FiDi.
