Lunch was great. We had the salmon, Caesar salad, and the tuna appetizer. The food came out quickly and it was perfect for a business lunch. We come here a lot.

First visit to meet colleague. all dining is on a raised platform across from bar except for a few tables in back near rest rooms and stairs downstairs. did not go downstairs. Noise level made it hard to hear even right across table. Menu choices are small. did not try Tapas.

THIS WAS OUR THIRD VISIT. WE LIKE THE LOCATION FOR PRE-THEATER, JUST A SHORT WALK FROM THE THEATER DISTRICT. IF YOU'RE IN 42ND ST. MIDTOWN AREA, IT'S A RELIABLE LUNCH SPOT.
BY THE WAY, IT'S INTERESTING TO LEARN ABOUT THE HUGE RESERVOIR THAT INSPIRED THE NAME AND STOOD WHERE BRYANT PARK IS; OLD PHOTOS OF IT ARE HARD TO BELIEVE.

We got delayed with guests in town and Mickey kindly held our table for us, which was really appreciated as we would otherwise been doing take out. Thank you!
Food is great fare, fun ambiance and terrific drinks.

Excellent bite to eat pre-theatre. Terrific bar and drinks, friendly and efficient service and ideal location, a stones throw to theatres without the mania of Times Sq. Our new Go to in the area.

Convenient location for theater, but much quieter than many restaurants in the area. Food is good. Service was quick. Staff were very friendly.

Excellent food! Service was quick and friendly. We loved everything. The bar was packed but it wasn’t overly loud. You could have a normal conversation. We will go back when in NYC again.

The menu is limited and the price isn't exactly a match for quantity of food. However, the quality of food is superb. I ordered the quinoa avocado salad with hanger steak. The amount of salad was exaggerative, and he amount of steak for $12 was too little. So there's an imbalance on that part. Same goes for the grilled salmon, small piece for $26. However? The desert was perfect. Order the apple tart. It comes with cinnamon gelato. It wasn't too sweet at all--it tasted real in terms of sweetness. Absolutely delicious. The ambience is very nice and casual. The waiter was quite attentive. Would go back for the M-F happy hour

We had lunch here before a Sunday 3pm theater curtain — and had a blissfully peaceful experience, because apparently tourists don't know this place is here! Hope it stays that way.

This place is a dump. It's overpriced, the service is poor, and the bathroom is disgusting. I would not recommend to anyone.

Great find near Bryant Park! An oasis of calm and coziness amidst the craziness of midtown. Will definitely be back.

I chose this restaurant strictly for convenience and all 4 of us were pleasantly surprised. Upon walking in to the packed house we assumed we would never hear each other speak but once we sat down it was fine. Everything we ordered was delicious and the fairly new waiter from Ocean City, MD was terrific. I give it a A+ and I will definitely return. Apparently downstairs is where the happy hour is, in addition to the very busy upstairs bar. Don’t forget to also ask for the bar menu when dining for additional choices.

The good was fine but the service was awful. We had a pre dinner drink and were asked to leave the bar area after 15min and when we sat down the server asked every 5 minutes if we were finished. This was no lingering meal but from sitting down to leaving was about one hour! RUSHED on all fronts.

Don't let my three stars keep you from going to this place. This was my first time eating at Croton. Not sure if this place is always packed, but it was on the night I went. I was able to get a reservation with only an hour notice, and the table was ready when I arrived. But because there were so many people in the restaurant it was very loud and it seems like they may have been short on wait staff. But our waiter was good. Food was okay. I had the pork chops, which were a tad bit dry, but my friend eating with me thought they tasted good. The Brussel sprouts were terrific. I'd give this place another try for dinner, and it seems like a good place for a drink.

Good service. My dish was memorable. Very convenient location at Bryant Park. Too bad no non-alcoholic beer. Restaurants that miss this essential make a mistake. More people are asking for NA beer now than ever. An adult beverage with fine food is essential for a good experience and sparkling water is not always a suitable alternative. I look forward to my next visit to Croton Reservoir Tavern.

I have been a customer for nine years. Historically I take every new employee to lunch and several business contacts to dinner. I may need to find a new restaurant. The new hanger steak sandwich was terrible....tough with no flavor.....the cheese and vegetable didn't go well. I was sick all night. Luckily my guests ordered burgers and salad. You need to remove it from menu and get the steak sandwich back....it was thinly sliced cooked perfectly at medium well with a great dressing.
