Croton Reservoir Tavern
I COME TO NYC SEVERAL TIMES A YEAR. I ALWAYS ENJOY GOING TO CROTON FOR LUNCH - THEY HAVE CHANGED THEIR LUNCH MENU AND IT IS LIMITED. I USED TO LIKE THE CRAB CAKE FOR LUNCH AND THE WRAPS YOU ONCE HAD. MY COLLEAGUE LIKED THE CHICKEN PIARD YOU USED TO MAKE - HE SAID THE BEST IN THE CITY!
WELL I MUST SAY I WAS VERY DISAPPOINTED IN YOUR LOBSTER ROLL. THE PRICE WAS ACCEPTABLE AS I KNOW LOBSTER ROLLS ARE NOT CHEAP. HOWEVER, I WOULD HAVE LIKED TO TASTE THE LOBSTER OVER THE CELERY. THE ROLL WAS NOT EVEN A REAL ROLL - AS A LOBSTER ROLL WOULD BE. IT WAS A SMALL VERSION OF IT AND THE LOBSTER MIXTURE WAS BASICALLY SPREAD/PLACED ON THE TOP. VERY DISAPPOINTING. WHEN I COME BACK IN JULY, I WILL NOT BE EATING AT CROTON.
Justin was a great waiter, and we had a great dinner.
Mac and cheese too small for the value. It is a starter size
We were really looking forward to dinner at this conveniently located (to PABT & Penn) restaurant. I knew we should have turned & walked out as soon as we entered, the place may have an impressive bar, but that's where it ends. The tables are old & utilitarian, the menu is just you basic bar fare...burgers, wings, etc. The prices are NYC (the burger was $17 & $3 extra to add fries!!) Now I don't mind paying those prices if the service is good, but the waiter was absent much of the time and really didn't attend to our needs.
We were greeted warmly and our table was ready. Our server was very knowledgable and helpful.
Food was delicious.
I enjoy going to Croton Reservoir as the food is consistently good and the ambiance is conducive to having a fun time with friends! The only drawback this visit was the hostess was not as welcoming. I won't hold it against the restaurant as we all have our off-colour days. I will still go back!
I ordered the quinoa salad with chicken, which was well prepared, but nothing terribly special. It was a little expensive for the size and ingredients and, (although I LOVE truffles), thought the truffle vinegarette dressing was a bit of an odd pairing with this salad - there was no ingredient that benefitted from the truffle taste, and the it probably only drove up the cost unnecessarily. Had the apple tart for dessert which was delicious, generous and very nice. The service was friendly even if a bit spotty (it was not a very busy time. I asked for half and half for my coffee 3 times before getting it, but the server brought me a fresh cup of hot coffee to replace the one that got cold.
Was ok but hostess was quite annoying. Had a reservation for 2 people for a business lunch. Person meeting me was very late. I asked to be seated so I could have a drink and was told she couldn’t because of “policy”, despite the fact that there were numerous empty tables.
Overpriced. Microwaved food. Disorganized Service. Other than that, it was great.
Had a good burger, cooked the way I ordered it and nicely served.
Great service and food. Glad we found it. We'll be back.
Usiness lunch. Consistently good as expected. Great ataff
Great spot off Bryant Park!! Loved it!!
Multiples waitresses caused confusion paying the bill. Very inconvenient. Dinner menu was limited. Ran out of multiple appetizers
Orderd Beef Stroganoff, the portion was about a cup of noodles with heavy marinara topped with an ounce of sour cream. Oh, I left out a description of the beef. Obviously, they forgot too. There was three very small mortals of beef. The braised spare rib in the dish description was undiscoverable when presented. The three bites of meat, total, wouldn’t fit in a thimble. Basically, it was 12oz spaghetti with marinara sauce. The dish was listed as an entree and priced at $25. Notice proportion in relation to dinner fork.
Staff and service was awesome
I went in skeptical, as I wanted to go to a different restaurant nearby, but could not stop raving about my food. Highly recommend the Mac & Cheese, Chicken & Waffles, and the Mushroom & Swiss Omelet.
Very comfortable and friendly atmosphere with delicious food
Quaint little pub off the beaten path. Outstanding wood fire pizza! Not much seating.
I went there with my family after a long day of NYC holiday sightseeing and the experience was great. My two nieces (ages 10 and 11) were with us but this was not an issue although I would not recommend bringing children any other time of year.
Food was good. We had burgers, pressed sandwiches and Cobb salad. My duck Cuban could’ve been outstanding if they let the cheese melt - very good and tasty ingredients but execution is not quite there. Overall we had great and friendly service and a good value for the price
Sehr gutes Restaurant mitten in Manhattan, sehr gutes Essen, Preis/Leistung super für amerikanische Verhältnisse. Jederzeit wieder 👍
We had a reservation and still had to wait 1/2 hour. Not a huge deal since we sat at the bar to wait. When we were finally seated it took a other 20 minutes for us to get menus which we received from finally asking the waiter at the next table. The order was incorrect and the turkey sandwich which was ordered although the turkey was carved turkey the entire sandwich was dry. The waiter was pleasant enough but the service was poor due to not enough servers for the place, especially since it was a Saturday afternoon during the Christmas season . We had to wait 20 minutes from the time we were done eating for the waiter to come and ask us if we wanted coffee.Would not recommend this restaurant. I did check out the reviews before making a reservation and didn’t expect this outcome.
Recommended by a friend, and we will pass that recommendation on to future friends
Noisy bar with strange menu and bad service. Waitress was rude and inattentive. Brought wrong beer and never brought salad that was ordered. Will not return.
Great food and lovely service
A bit too noisy and crowded. The wine serving was a very short glass for the price.
Croton Resevoir is a solid choice to relax with friends and grab a meal. Service was attentive but not annoying. Food was prepared quickly in a small kitchen, but had a big kitchen presentation and flavor. The little details, quality and preparation of the food was great. Definitely a very busy place, but a perfect spot to drop in on cold night for a drink and hot meal.
Overall weak. Loud, food was decent but bar atmosphere.
Would go back for drinks, nothing more. Too bad, interesting spot.
Very casual, food is ok. Probably not a repeat for me
Good place for a quick lunch
Consistently good food in a nice atmosphere, great location!
I had a reservation but that didn't seem to matter. The food was good all around, but we were seated right next to the bathroom - not so appetizing. The service was o.k., but it was sometimes hard to get the attention of the waiter due to our location.
The server was not very responsive - which is unfortunate as the restaurant was not that crowded. I doubt I’d go back here.
Great midtown go to business lunch or dinner. Plus, great for just the random pull up to the bar and grab a burger and beer.
Great place for happy hour... in the basement bar
A fun casual spot! The tuna burger was excellent. Most of our group had burgers and really liked their choice. One person ordered salad and thought it was just okay. The service was pleasant and attentive.
Good food nice place
Efficient and tasty. Able to take care of several variety needs in our groups needs.
I loved that it was centrally located and that it as a good menu
