Excellent food! Service was quick and friendly. We loved everything. The bar was packed but it wasn’t overly loud. You could have a normal conversation. We will go back when in NYC again.
The menu is limited and the price isn't exactly a match for quantity of food. However, the quality of food is superb. I ordered the quinoa avocado salad with hanger steak. The amount of salad was exaggerative, and he amount of steak for $12 was too little. So there's an imbalance on that part. Same goes for the grilled salmon, small piece for $26. However? The desert was perfect. Order the apple tart. It comes with cinnamon gelato. It wasn't too sweet at all--it tasted real in terms of sweetness. Absolutely delicious. The ambience is very nice and casual. The waiter was quite attentive. Would go back for the M-F happy hour
We had lunch here before a Sunday 3pm theater curtain — and had a blissfully peaceful experience, because apparently tourists don't know this place is here! Hope it stays that way.
This place is a dump. It's overpriced, the service is poor, and the bathroom is disgusting. I would not recommend to anyone.
Great find near Bryant Park! An oasis of calm and coziness amidst the craziness of midtown. Will definitely be back.
We were looking for a quick not fussy dinner after a workout at the Bryant Park Equinox and this totally fit the specs. Surprisingly good food.
Croton Reservoir is always a good experience. The service and food were all very good. The menu has good options and they are always open for special requests.
steak is good
Hostess was very polite and had our table ready. Good service. Very nice and convenient to Bryant Park which was our destination.
I chose this restaurant strictly for convenience and all 4 of us were pleasantly surprised. Upon walking in to the packed house we assumed we would never hear each other speak but once we sat down it was fine. Everything we ordered was delicious and the fairly new waiter from Ocean City, MD was terrific. I give it a A+ and I will definitely return. Apparently downstairs is where the happy hour is, in addition to the very busy upstairs bar. Don’t forget to also ask for the bar menu when dining for additional choices.
Excellent food and menu. First rate service. Loud.
Food was well served in a nice location near Bryant Park. Everyone enjoyed the food.
The good was fine but the service was awful. We had a pre dinner drink and were asked to leave the bar area after 15min and when we sat down the server asked every 5 minutes if we were finished. This was no lingering meal but from sitting down to leaving was about one hour! RUSHED on all fronts.
Nice place for 4:00 pm happy hour get-together. Good food and tavern atmosphere.
Don't let my three stars keep you from going to this place. This was my first time eating at Croton. Not sure if this place is always packed, but it was on the night I went. I was able to get a reservation with only an hour notice, and the table was ready when I arrived. But because there were so many people in the restaurant it was very loud and it seems like they may have been short on wait staff. But our waiter was good. Food was okay. I had the pork chops, which were a tad bit dry, but my friend eating with me thought they tasted good. The Brussel sprouts were terrific. I'd give this place another try for dinner, and it seems like a good place for a drink.
The water in a bottle on the table is a great practice. The bun on the veggie burger is waaaaay too big. Did t really enjoy that meal... but have had good meals there in the past.
We went to dinner on Thanksgiving day. Lousy wine options. weak service. Terrible dessert.
Too loud. Food s ok and near theatres. But noise level is terrible
Great food. Great location for a biz lunch. Loved the steakCeasarSalad.
No draft beer list, loud and the burger was dull for $18.
Seated quickly, attentive staff, food was good
Great neighborhood watering hole. Food and people are terrific.
Very lovely venue. Nice menu with ample selection. Gorgeous bar.
Menu was limited. Ended up eating cesar salad with salmon. Could have had that anywhere. It was quite when we walked in but during dinner it got very loud. We couldn't hear each other so left before desert
The Bean burger was not freshly made and it tasted horrible
Good service. My dish was memorable. Very convenient location at Bryant Park. Too bad no non-alcoholic beer. Restaurants that miss this essential make a mistake. More people are asking for NA beer now than ever. An adult beverage with fine food is essential for a good experience and sparkling water is not always a suitable alternative. I look forward to my next visit to Croton Reservoir Tavern.
I went for lunch and a good thing too. Very limited menu of mostly sandwiches which were enjoyable. Dinner and lunch menus the same. Very limited wine selections. Keep the name in mind: Tavern.
Went for lunch with a coworkers midweek. Service was good. We both had salads which were fresh and very good. The restaurant was busy. We were seated downstairs which is not as nice as the main dining area.
I always recommend this restaurant when I have clients in. The food is consistently fresh and delicious, the atmosphere is professional casual. Everyone I bring (including friends), love the food and location.
I have been a customer for nine years. Historically I take every new employee to lunch and several business contacts to dinner. I may need to find a new restaurant. The new hanger steak sandwich was terrible....tough with no flavor.....the cheese and vegetable didn't go well. I was sick all night. Luckily my guests ordered burgers and salad. You need to remove it from menu and get the steak sandwich back....it was thinly sliced cooked perfectly at medium well with a great dressing.
