Crispo Ratings and Reviews
Reviews on Yelp told otherwise but it was a a very poor experience. Appetizers came so fast that it tasted like it was microwaved, waiter rushed us out, and asked for a recommendation for a good red wine that's full bodied and he said "you're going to have be more specific than that"-- don't go to crispo
While Crispo is one of my favorite restaurants in the city, this visit was a little on the disappointing side. The food was excellent as usual, but the service seemed frustrated or unenthused. The woman at the front desk was extremely cold bordering on rude, and our waitress was very unfriendly. Perhaps it was the end of a long day for both.
It certainly didn't ruin the experience and I'll be back for special occasions in the future.
I found the Spaghetti Carbonara with the homemade pasta to be delicious! My server was very attentive. Mad Props to Lacey for her excellent service and kindness. I've already recommended this restaurant to friends and family. My brother in law, being a connoisseur on spaghetti carbonara will definitely enjoy this signature dish! Happy New Year!
I have been to CrIspo on multiple occasions and loved it. Food was just as great as normal tonight, but service was lackluster. It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t good either. Our server just seemed disinterested in our table or experience.
Let manager know about it on the way out and she was super appreciative. It would not affect my decision to return.
Crispo has been one of our favorite restaurants for over a decade but since moving out of the city we haven’t been there for 6 months. When friends from out of town were coming to NY we decided to dine at Crispo. I’m saddened to say it turned out to be a big mistake. Service was amateurish and food was mediocre. Burrata w fig was almost tasteless, my pasta course was dry and almost cold when served. The flank steak was as tough as leather. Worse, the pasta and steak were served together as though this was a luncheonette and not a real Italian restaurant. When we sent back the steak there was a look of incredulity on the waiters face as though we had made the mistake and she was being punished. Dishes being removed from one of our group before everyone was finished eating was another major service flaw. Wine being poured wilynily to quickly empty the bottle. and a sense that we should hurry up and eat and leave so the table could be turned. These missteps never happened at Crispo in all of the years we’ve dined there. It’s a sad moment when you realize that one of your favorite restaurants is no longer the same. Something has changed and not for the better.
We were visiting NYC for a family trip at Christmas time. Crispo was highly recommended by a friend that recently moved away from NYC. The restaurant is beautiful and we were fortunate to sit in the back by a fire. Our waitress was meh personality wise. We had a 5:30 reservation as we were dining with a 5 y/o. Unfortunately there is not a kids menu. We opted to not spend another $14-18 for a smaller pasta dish for her. The restaurant became very busy around 6:00 and our waitress was very busy with other tables which left us to the wayside. The special penne lamb shank ragu was delicious. I didn’t find the Carbonera to be anything special. We finally had to get another waiters attention to clear our plates and bring us a dessert menu. They were apologetic meanwhile we never saw our waitress again. Our total meal was $160 and that was only with 2 glasses of wine. For that price I wasn’t blown away and I was pretty upset with the service experience.
Selected Crispo based on reviews and were happy we did. The dining room is cozy and inviting and the servers are pleasant and attentive. My husband, my mother and I all enjoyed our meals and shared tastes of one another's dishes. I had the butternut squash tortelloni which seemed to be the table favorite. One downside...no bread is brought to the table unless ordered separately. We would definitely go back and recommend to others.
I was told about Crispo by a colleague and it did not disappoint at all. My wife and I had a great time! The staff were friendly, the atmosphere was relaxed and just what we were looking for. The food was the best part. One of the best dinner locations I've been to in years.
The food at Cripo is always excellent. Everyone at my table was happy with their meals. Our only complaint was that the servers seemed to be eager to get our table. There were other tables that were empty so it wasn't that they needed the table. Our plates were being cleared while one person in our party was still eating!! When we were putting our coats on to leave one person was hovering over us to turn the table over. I know it's holiday time in the city, we were made to feel very rushed and uncomfortable.
This was our first experience with Crispo and we were very satisfied. Most of our party of 7 had pasta dishes and these were well prepared with fresh ingredients. The portions were ample.
The appetizers and desserts were pleasing and the service was excellent. We highly recommend this restaurant if you are in the Chelsea area.
