Great restaurant for a special occasion.
The location is amazing! Nestled directly on Oak Creek if you are looking for a romantic getaway this is you location. Unfortunately we arrived not to long after they changed over their menu so the pace and spacing was not even close to what it should have been. That being said our server went above and beyond to make up for the issues with the meal. Overall it was an outstanding experience.
Great place to celebrate our anniversary!
Does good food negate poor service? That is the question diners at this restaurant must ask themselves. Loved the ambience of the restaurant. Located next to the white noise Oak Creek. The food was exceptional as was the wine. The service, however, was extremely poor. The server ignored us from the beginning. By the end of the evening, it was difficult to find him. The dessert course we ordered for this 3 course dinner was ice cream. Yes, ice cream took 45 minutes to arrive. At the end of the evening, what I remember most about a dining experience that should have been exceptional was how poor the service was, so poor that the server deducted a sizable amount from the final tab.
Our server was great but very busy and not enough time to answer our questions about the menu plus take our order all at the same time. He kept having to go to other tables. Maybe I asked too many questions about the menu. My husbands dessert took about 5-10 minutes to arrive. When the server placed my dessert down we asked about my husbands sorbet and said he would go find out. I finally asked our server and said he was surprised it had not been delivered. It took a longer than it should have for sorbet. Our server was nice enough to take some of the cost off the bill. Ambiance is amazing. Food is good but not outstanding. Service is good when they have time and are not understaffed.
We were disappointed - service was uncoordinated, and our server kept changing, which meant little things got lost in the shuffle. Not what you want out of an expensive dining experience. The creekside tables were nice until the sun went down - then they were poorly lit and we were eating in darkness.
Our waiter Alex was outstanding. Very personable and very knowlegable about all the items on the menu. He is a real asset to your restaurant.
Disappointed had to eat inside because of weather. Would recommend you remodel the inside to make it a more appealing place to eat. Very modest looking inside.
Fantastic location, extremely accommadating staff. They noticed my friend looked chilly and brought a blanket. Each course was creatively delicious.
Great service and food!
This is a wonderful restaurant. It is pricey, but the food is outstanding, the chef creative and willing to make adjustments, the staff from the host to the servers friendly -- even the valet parking staff was friendly. Only complaint: service a little slow, but the staff apologizes = for that. I would never go back to Sedona without including a dinner here.
We were celebrating a 50th Birthday and this was a perfect location for a great dinner.....we did 3 courses and got there for 7:00 pm so it was dusk - the setting is ABSOLUTELY Fabulous.... a must do.. for a long and leisurely dinner! The service was top class!
Request a table by the creek on the patio....the heating lamps were working well!
I ordered a filet . The meat was not only tough but tasteless. In fact, I wouldn’t even say
That it was a filet. The Brussels sprouts were over cooked.Although I have dined
With this restaurant before, I will not do so again.
I feel badly writing this poor review because my friends and I were really looking forward to this meal. I think that we just hit them at a very bad time. We were a party of 8 and had made a reservation well in advance. There was some confusion earlier in the day as to whether we wanted to be in the Cress on Creek area or the less expensive Etch area despite the fact that I had confirmed the week before and I had immediately responded to their confirmation the day before. We sensed that maybe they were trying to get us to move to the more casual space due to being heavily booked. With an 8:15 reservation, we had to wait at the bar for a bit which we understood. No one can predict how long guests want to linger. All of the service staff kept telling us how slammed they were. We were not able to get our requested table next to the creek (would have been a longer wait) so they set a long table nearby. I asked that they make it smaller so that we could be close and visit easily. When we were finally seated, we were very spread out and I asked to have one table removed so that we could be closer. We were told that we would have to go back to the bar and be reseated in 10 minutes. We sat down and, after giving it a try, moved the table ourselves in 2 minutes. Six of the eight of us ordered the halibut and we learned 10-15 minutes later that there were only 2 servings remaining. We adjusted our choices. The food was nothing special. In fact, some of it was just not very good. Steaks were undercooked, vegetables served cold, halibut not well prepared. Maybe we were expecting too much. We all travel and eat out at nice restaurants regularly at home and this had been billed as outstanding. When our checks came, the waitress told us that the manager had taken the liquor and wine off of our bill and had not included the 20% gratuity. That was the right thing to do, although we would have preferred to have enjoyed a good meal. We tipped the waitress and bartender and left.
The ambience was absolutely wonderful and the service started out very well and then went downhill from there. Our food was not delivered in a timely fashion in fact over three hours we finally were served our food. The food was average at best. It’s seem to have sat under warming lights. Given our disatisfaction they were at least generous by comping the entire food bill. That was more than appropriate.
Very nice ambiance. Service was slow
My wife and I enjoyed an absolutely magnificent meal in celebration of my birthday at Cress. We are lucky enough to be able to eat out very often and we both agreed that our dining experience was among our five favorites ever, anywhere in the world. The food was exceptional, the service was sensational and the ambience second to none. Our server,Colby,is in a league of his own and
MVP of that league I might add.Be prepared to spend a fair amount of money but in our view, money exceedingly well spent. We would give Cress an unqualified recommendation to anyone we know. It would be virtually impossible not to thoroughly enjoy yourselves there. We very much look forward to our next visit.
Engagement dinner, the ambience was absolutely perfect! Exceptional service.
We simply loved the location and the setting. What an incredible way to experience Sedona and a birthday weekend. Service was excellent, Alex in particular, as well as the rest of the service team.
Our only concern was that while nothing about the food was bad, it was lacking in the kind of quality that one would expect from a place of this caliber.
We came for our 10th anniversary. We drove from our hotel in Phoenix. From South Dakota. Would do it again without hesitation. I believe our server name was Alex. He was amazing. Very knowledgeable and on top of everything. He made the experience even better.
Seated 30 minutes after reservation. Dinner took 2 hours. Waiters seldon came by. Steak over cooked and was never asked how it was. Short staffed.
Fabulous setting. Food was incredible. The halibut was outstanding. Our server Joel was so nice and very happy to serve us. Had a great time and would love to come again next time we are in Sedona.
An amazing meal. Our server, Colby, was knowledgeable and attentive without being overbearing. The setting was incredible. Highly recommend!
This is, without a question, one of the top 5 restaurants in which I have ever dined. The totally idyllic setting literally on the banks of Oak Creek was fully matched by the uniformly astounding cuisine. The 4 stars for value in the face of everything else getting 5 stars is simply because this was the priciest restaurant meal for two that I have ever encountered. That said, it was very much worth it for a very special occasion.
Awesome food and service! Not just for foodies. Portions and pacing were perfect.
Could not have been better! Food ambiance and our server Colby all excellent!
After a long wait to be seated we were treated to a gastronomic delight by probably the best waiter we have ever encountered.
Beautiful setting! Wait staff excellent and food very good. Wine list is good but expensive.
Started out good until the food came out. Their menu and ambiance create expectations that their kitchen seems loathe to deliver. The manager came later and offered complimentary desserts, which was nice, but when still presented with a bill of that magnitude one has the right to demand excellence. Cress needs to regroup.
We sat creekside and that alone was an amazing experience! Both my hubby (who was celebrating his bday) had the three pre fix menu. Nice wine selection as well as excellent service. Not a bad value for the price.
From the first moment we sat down, our server, Colby, said there were no rules. He took the time to understand each person’s preferences, and the food was in fact, delivered perfectly. Best service I have ever experienced!
The food was good, once we got the final dish. Had to send the food back due to the dryness of the steak. It's location is beautiful. Ultimately, for almost $200 just for food there are better values in Sedona. We were honestly surprised at the service and food issues as the reviews were really good. Maybe it was a bad night for them. I would say YMMV.
Although it was too cold to dine al fresco Creekside which we saw would be very special, we thoroughly enjoyed the creatively prepared prix fixe 3-4 course tasting menu within the serene intimate dining space with a lovely view of the beautiful romantic setting. Service was beyond ultimate perfection and combined with fabulous wine and food selections made for a delightful and memorable experience.
The place is beautiful, and during good weather sitting by the creek would be amazing. I thought the food was good, but not quite up to the hype I've heard.
I have mixed feeling about the dinner I ate. Service and ambiance were excellent, but the food was highly varied. My 2 starters were both excellent, and I thoroughly enjoyed both of them. I had steak for my main course, which although tasty was let down by a sauce that was so overpowering in flavor it had no place on the plate, and in my opinion ruined the dish. My dessert however was outright disgusting - a fig and almond tart, that was simply an unappetising mess of dried figs and cold soggy puff pastry. I am a massive dessert lover, but could not finish this dish; it was a very poor way to end the meal.
Forget the fact this restaurant is located in one of the most picturesque places in Arizona. It also just happens to be one of the best dining experiences in the state with top level service and fantastic wine list.
Food was very creative, unique, and superbly executed. The beef fillet was one of the top three I've ever had. To top it off, the service was exquisite. Everyone here is a professional. We were treated very well by everyone. Very romantic. We will be back again.
We had the four course menu and the food was delicious. The three sisters soup was an amazing mix of flavours. The pork belly second course also great. The venison stood out as a main. The fig tart was outstanding for dessert. The wine list was extensive with some fantastic wines. Our server was helpful and friendly. Overall a great experience. A little pricey
Delicious dinner in a beautiful setting. Service was impeccable. Lovely presentation. Ate inside due to weather. Patio by the creek would have been even better. Next time!
