Even though the evening was cold and windy, our server did everything she could to make our evening special. Heaters and lap blankets were used to keep us warm. We were offered a table inside, but the experience was only enhanced by the cool temperatures.
The food was incredible.
Beautiful setting and great service but way over priced for the serving size and menu options.
Wonderful location and service.
We’re on holiday from Michigan and were told about Cress by some friends. Decided to come for the wife’s birthday. We were not disappointed! Amazing location and staff. Our server was Colby and he was 5 stars all the way. Definitely made our meal that much better. Food was excellent. Wife had the steak and I had the seafood of the day (scallops). Thanks for a nice evening.
Colby was our server, he’s the consummate professional. Amazing night.
I did not like the menu in the fact that you had to pay at least $95 for a 3-course meal. The service was good but the food was bad. All four of us said we will never go back.
Our experience was far from superb.
Ambiance was picturesque, food par, service started strong ended weak.
Our appetizers were the highlight of the meal, both of the main courses came out lukewarm.
The deserts were actually both horrible, as we mentioned to our server who seemed to not care.
Of course haven eaten at their restaurants in Napa & Del Mar we expected a far different experience.
Definitely left dissatisfied and would not return nor recommend.
5 star service and food
Service was impeccable. A+ food—layers of flavor, beautiful presentation, unique flavors.
We loved the setting and the service! Michael was our server and he was great. We never waited more than 5 minutes between courses and they never brought the next dish out before we were finished with the current one. The creek rushing by only 5 feet away was extremely relaxing. HOWEVER, the food itself was not at the quality one would expect for the price that you pay. Every dish had at least one, (often more like 2 or 3) components that were way too salty...it actually burned my mouth a couple of times. The Atlantic char was probably the most tolerable of the courses we had. The dessert I had (black velvet) was unfortunately one of the worst desserts I've ever had. I am a huge dessert fan and have never left a bite of dessert on my plate before, but I could not bring myself to finish this one. My husband ordered the strawberry cheesecake and it was better, but still not quite right...almost as if the chef added alcohol to part of it but didn't cook it off all of the way...? Not sure what happened there. The drinks were great but be ready to spend some money if you get a cocktail. Overall, not even close to being worth the price. If you've never had 5 star service and a full 3 or 4 course meal, then it's a fun experience. Otherwise save some money, go somewhere else.
Wonderful experience! Everything was excellent from beautiful the end of our dining experience. Beautiful setting
Colby was the best server we have ever had. Food was excellent and ambiance was amazing. A great anniversary dinner. We will be back.
The ambiance was amazing. I would recommend this place. The servers were good and attentive when talking to you. However, the hostess was not at the hostess station. Even when she saw us, she was slow to meet us. When talking to her, she forgot our last name. Just seemed like she wasn’t having a good night.
Our server was attentive but he was slow to bring us a blanket.
The food was good. The most memorable thing was the dessert.
We didn’t know it was a prix fixe menu which would’ve been ok if the food was worthy of the price. Also they make you valet your car which they add to your bill, which should be free if you’re spending that much at their restaurant. But the service was great.
Waiter failed to ensure kitchen noted food intolerance. Further intolerance was noted on reservation and yet kitchen failed to respond. One member of our party was unable to eat first course, no apology from waiter.
The service is very slow and the menu was unimpressive. I love Hen and ordered it. I was served probably only an ounce of meat, as they include the bones in it. I had a salad beforehand. If it weren’t for the cheese plate I ordered afterward I would have left still hungry. This restaurant will not be getting any Michelin stars any time soon. Both the value and the service need significant improvement. The only thing they have going for it is the ambience.
A fantastic dining experience. Great setting aling Oak creek!
Our waiter and his assistants were amazing, not over attentive, but just the right timing for our needs. I wanted to bring the chef back home with us! Every bite was truly delicious and unique blends of flavor. Having dinner under the trees and by the creek was truly an unforgettable experience.
We were able to see the area and beautiful design for a nighttime wedding the same night we visited. A gorgeous special occasion venue.
Absolutely amazing setting. Near the creekside and a nice place for a special dinner. The food was very good with the dessert being a highlight. Service is impeccable.
We booked dinner before it got dark to experience the creek. It was so special. They have a great cocktail list, and our server helped us find a perfect Malbec for our dinner. I got the duck entree per our server’s suggestion, and I’m so happy I did! Overall it was an awesome experience!
Went for my birthday and it was absolutely beautiful dining along side creekside! From the hostess to the servers, and food/drinks, absolutely impeccable!
I ordered the asparagus, poached lobster, and PB&J dessert. The asparagus was cooked perfectly as well as the lobster. So many times lobster is over cooked but this was perfect. I don’t know what the green crunchy vegetable was but it was outstanding. The PB&J dessert had too much fruit for my taste. Main course lobster could have been a little more generous. There was a light rain outside so we were unable to eat by the creek, dining room was ok, small room not many window tables. The service was outstanding.
We had breakfast at creekside and it was the most relaxing meal I have ever eaten. Breakfast food was cooked perfectly and was delicious. Great place to eat.
Best and most creative food I’ve ever experienced. Wait staff was very attentive and highly qualified but we did not feel at all rushed. Price of food was very good. Wine list was excellent but very overpriced. Example: I can buy a Quilceda Creek Cab at the winery for $135. Double that would be fair in a restaurant but you charge $480. That made me feel that I might be overcharged for everything and it did not set a good tone but it turned out that the rest of the experience was fair. That was my only concern.
My husband and I enjoy dining at fine restaurants and don't mind paying for the extravagance because the food is usually exceptional. Our experience at Cress on Oak Creek was anything but. While the location was beautiful, our reservation was at 7:30 p.m., so we could only hear the water; it was too dark to see anything. We even had to use the light from our cell phones to read the menus. The amuse bouche that was offered - a cube of extremely chewy smoked pork belly atop some unusually acidic bbq sauce and topped with pineapple - did little to amuse our bouches and the two small stale rolls had us wondering if we should really bother with the rest of the meal. The salad my husband ordered was nothing special, albeit mounded in a juvenile half moon shape on the plate. My duck "rolls" were nothing more than diced duck breast - probably left over from duck entrees not sold the night before - and rolled in spring rolls wrappers. The quail arancini was a golf ball sized fried rice ball with the tiniest quail leg we'd ever seen leaning against it. Our entrees were equally uninspired and the dessert - Maize All Day - had corn bread crumbs that tasted stale. Save yourself the $95 three-course prix fix per person and stay home!
The ambiance delivers, not to be superseded by Alana who was knowledgeable, personable and relateable. The menu was creative, well presented and delicious!
The ambiance by the creek was stunning during the evening hours and the lighting made the setting feel romantic and intimate. There were so many delicious choices to choose from prix fixe menu so all dietary restrictions were covered. My husband and I both have wheat allergies and were surprised that there were only a few dishes on the menu that we couldn't eat which was very nice. Our server got a little pre-occupied chatting to other tables so we went without water and dessert for a bit, but nothing too much to complain about because the setting was beautiful to take in. We had the trout tartare, burrata, lobster (it melted in your mouth), duck, and a peanut butter and jelly inspired dessert. All so GOOD!
The setting is lovely - the staff is amazing - but I was having too hard of a time seeing my food as there was almost no light. And, there weren't any available heaters. In late September, creek side, for reservations after the sun went down, it was too chilly to sit outside without a blanket or heater. One of the women in our party had to ask for a blanket, which she got. For these reasons, our experience wasn't as pleasant as it could have been.
My husband and I had a wonderful evening celebrating our anniversary. The food was fantastic and the service was spectacular. Our server explained each dish in detail, which helped us tremendously. They even brought me a blanket when it was chilly. Overall a brilliant experience from start to finish.
Beautiful, romantic setting, close to creek with relaxing sounds of water. Good food and excellent service.
Food took a very long time to come out. The ambiance was beautiful but the food experience was very underwhelming. Was expecting better service and quality food for the price. It was a three course meal , each course took almost half an hour to come out.
Cress on Oak Creek was a lovely experience. Ambiance was very special. Tables are creekside, candle lit, with white lights on the trees surrounding. Dinner was expensive with a set price per person but food was delicious. This is a restaurant to go to for a special occassion!
Food is great and dinner by Oak Creek is awesome. Service was a little slow. It is super expensive. Not worth the money!
Beautiful setting!!! Would be a very romantic dinner with your special someone -I was there with friends but still beautiful. The only disappointment was the actual food. The amuse bouche was half a Brussels sprout and crunchy at that. The salad was very nice but not special. I ordered the chef’s signature dish as my entree- two pieces of sirloin steak ( tasty but tough) served with things that did not compliment or add to the dish. So much so that I cannot recall what they were/ only that they just didn’t go together. My friends got the duck dish and said it was ok. I also had a bite of the duck roll which was ok and I love duck. Anyway, I would give it another chance if I return to Sedona. Maybe the chef was off that night.
You can't fix PERFECTION!!!
Living in the low desert and visiting Sedona etc... Not only was our dining experience wonderful, but we were blessed w/ a pleasant dose of thunder. Something we seldom here. One hint of suggestion - More visible signage at the street on both sides of the road.....
Beautiful setting! Very romantic.
If you are looking for very romantic place to sit (and eat) next to a rushing stream (Oak Creek) this is a lovely setting. If you are hungry and looking for a lovely dinner, however, this is not the place to go. Their entire plan is a fixed price of $95 per person for a three course meal or $110 per person for a four course meal (The 4th course is limited to a second appetizer). Here is how it breaks down. For the two of us, we ordered one $95 three course meal and one $110 four course meal (in other words, one extra appetizer to share). So, before the wine, our total expense was $205 plus tax and tip. Linda had the duck and it was delicious albeit quite skimpy. I had the salad which was normal size and lovely. The third appetizer we ordered was the melon plate and it was a plate with a few meager pieces of melon. These
three plates represented $68 of the total bill just for tiny appetizers. Our main courses were Salmon for me and Poached Lobster Tails for Linda. Linda's was delicious and mine was good. My plate had two small squares of Salmon and two tiny dollops of pureed fennel. Another $68. Finally, we had the third course of dessert. Mine was three dots of vanilla gelato on top of three crackers and Linda had the "Maize All Day" served in a Highball glass. Another $68. If you look at our dining history you will see that we prefer fine dining everywhere we go. This was a lovely setting but not enough food to satisfy my one year old grandson!
Atmospheric dinner next to the creekside. Excellent service and food!
Wonderful creek side location; stellar food, impeccable service.
This was our 11th anniversary and we chose Cress mainly because of the joy of being on the water as well as being a 5 star resort,we knew the food would be great..But alas it was aweful! They offered a 3 course meal..my starter was melon so it was fine..my partner had quail..a leg that was so small it was laughable..my main the chef's special was steelhead trout that was so dry it was not good with a dried our potato something..the dessert seemed days old..our waiter was kind and offered to replace the dish but I chose not too as I ate the dried out dinner..it must have been an off night for the kitchen..won't be going back anytime soon unless it's for a drink..
