Food outstanding with impeccable service. Chef gave my husband a lovely ‘I love you’ message on his dessert, as requested. Lovely evening!
Excellent food, great and friendly service
Our experience was top-notch in almost every regard. The food was exceptional and we enjoyed every course of our four-course meal. Our server bent over backwards with the wine pairings, even embracing my wife’s desire for no red wine. I totally enjoyed the pineapple infused pork belly. And the rabbit and dorade were exceptional. This was well worth the splurge.
While this restaurant has been touted to be one of the best in Sedona, we found it to be very disappointing. Out of eight dishes we tried, we found two to be superb (the escargot & toffee dessert), two to be of passing quality ( the kale salad and the pumpkin dessert), and the rest to be disappointing in execution and/or recipe. In particular, the rabbit was bland and undercooked, the scallops were overwhelmed by cheese (note that seafood is rarely served in a large quantity of cheese), the asparagus and burrata was overwhelmed by the saltiness of the rice, and the trout ceviche appetizer was overly sweet.
As a couple, we have eaten in some of the finest restaurants around the world including many Michelin starred restaurants. Of these amazing experiences, I can count at least ten that were less expensive than Cress that provided better food and a better price. I would strongly suggest skipping this restaurant unless you are staying at L'Auberge and don't want to go out.
We were very excited at the prospect of dining st Cress. The menu looked imaginative. We couldn’t have been more disappointed. The slow cooked pork was ok, but the lamb was very poor - oily and without taste. Rabbit was so so. The popped corn desert was overbearing and crude.
At these prices, execution has to be perfect but this kitchen is way out of its depths. Service was very pleasant but the efforts of the waitress couldn’t make up for the performance of the kitchen.
Restaurants should leave you feeling delighted. At these prices, we just left angry.
The food was really tasteful.
The staff was very polite and the enviroment nice, well decorated and cosy.
The food was “average” - especially given the prices. One of the main course dishes was warm (at best). The food was flavorful, but not special. We were frankly disappointed considering the hype and reputation. We would not go back nor would we recommend to anybody else.
Very overpriced for quality and quantity of food. Food was cold when served after a long wait.
Service was very poor
I thought trying this place for Thanksgiving dinner would be a great choice, boy was I wrong!! I was sat at a table outside the restaurant(a tent), and it was so cold with no heaters available to warm the customers?? I asked to be seated inside and was told their was assigned seating, even though I made my reservation 3 months in advance?? The food was cold by the time it made it outside, and was sub par as well!!
Never again would I try this establishment, and would never recommend it in the future, also I did speak to a manager on duty who really did nothing......
A must visit every time I visit Sedona. Guess it is holiday seasons the main chef might not be available. Food is ok for regular restaurants but not up the the norm as I had experienced with them before.
Birthday- our waiter Colby was very knowledgeable and accommodating. Outstanding experience, highly recommend
So expensive, which we knew. The food was good, but you can get a lamb dinner for less with so much more good somewhere else.
It was an experience we enjoyed once, and we can say we knocked it off the list
Food was OUTSTANDING - Amazing combinations and so much flavor , beautiful presentation .
Our Waiter was Very accommodating , gracious and made our experience a really great one .
This was our first night for my husband and I in Sedona and I was very disappointed. My first course was a fish tartare and it was not fresh at all( I had to have my husband switch with me). Second course was decent. The last course was dessert and it was practically frozen. I mentioned it to our waitress and she did not seem to think it was a big deal and did nothing about it. My husband and I have been to many elegant resturants and I am so disappointed. I would never recommend this to anyone for $95 a person everything should have been perfect!
Me and my wife loved it the service was awesome I would definitely recommend it to anyone
Delicious fine dining meal. The food was impeccable as was the service. Only complaint was where we were sat. Very small table in a rather crowded dining room.
Wonderful meal and our waiter was outstanding
November in Sedona feels like a shoulder season and the restaurant was very quiet- maybe 5 tables seated in a large unremarkable dining room. It was also very dark and we needed to use our phones to read the menu. Luckily the server had a small flashlight for us to use. Fine dining?
I hesitate to call this fine dining because of the service. While the servers were very nice, their level of professionalism and attention to detail were not in line with fine dining e.g. the chef seafood selection was written on a note pad, our orders were written down from a very limited fixed menu. There was much ado about our allergies and it was mentioned numerous times throughout dinner and was confused between us. Our first course was entered incorrectly and I had to wait 5-10 minutes for the correct order while my partner waited with his food getting cold.
Making it a pleasant evening was the dinner itself. The flavors were very good. I had the asparagus with lemon oil and porcini - interesting texture combinations. Rabbit with vegetables was a nice presentation and good flavor combination and the dessert of “sticky toffee pudding” was delicious. My partner also liked his food very much. They need to watch on a slow night that everything is fresh and hasn’t been waiting too long before served - the amuse looked and tasted like it was prepared in the morning and was left in the refrigerator as an afterthought.
All in all we had a nice time and enjoyed our dinner. They need to work on staff training and service for a dinner at this price point.
Hands down, the most amazing food I’ve ever experienced.
The food at this restaurant is not good. Thankfully we had just 3 courses and didn't even finish that. They came around with rolls that they seemed very proud of because they were "just out of the oven" and they were so hard they must have heated up some from a couple of days ago. We don't mind paying prices like theirs when the food is good but this place should be ashamed. There are many good places to eat in Sedona. This is not one of them!
Had never experienced a menu like this where you pick 3 items for $95 or 4 for $110. You choose from 5-6 appetizers, 5-6 main courses,and/or 5-6 desserts. Service was great, presentation was very nice, but unfortunately the food was mediocre at best. Menu items all had flashy names and descriptions but what actually arrived was certainly not worth the money.
Not impressed with service especially considering how much your meal is. Portions are minuscule. Do not dine here if you are hungry.
Our server spilled hot coffee over the table told him to stop pouring because it was spilling, he continued.
I had coffee on my pants and boots. This wasn’t the worst of it. Steak completely over cooked but I did not want to complain because our server not real present.
Had to ask for fork with salads. Then we received our dinners, no fork or steak knife, we waited about 6 minutes to locate our server. Then dessert was delivered no forks, had to wait again and ask for forks.
Every table got bread before there salad, we finally asked for bread when we were almost finished with our salads.
Not impressed at all should have talked with manager.
Will not dine there ever again.
We were redirected to dine indoors, which changed the entire experience as the room inside was not the same. The food, while very tasty was portioned quite small....which at those prices was unexpected. Also, when we had dessert, and coffee we were shocked to be charged $8 per cup of regular and avergae coffee. The waiter removed those charges and apologized, nonetheless...that was terrible.
The waitstaff is excellent. The experience and the meal was disappointing.
Wonderful creek side service. Prix fixxe menu was delicious and with beautiful presentation and attentive service. Extensive wine menu.
Beautiful setting but many details of the food and service were missed so it wasn’t the “wow” meal we had expected.
Absolutely loved it! Surprised my husband w/a special dinner. We were both wowed; so much in fact, we went back for lunch two days later! Can’t say enough great things about the fabulous food, scenery, ambiance, and stellar wait staff. It’s a favorite of ours now.
We were looking forward to a great experience and were incredibly disappointed. The food was good and very beautifully presented, but we felt that the meal was not as special as as we have experienced at this price point.
We were very dissatisfied by the service. My wife asked for tea at the start of the meal. The waiter asked what type she wanted and she requested “English Breakfast”. The waiter then returned and said they were out and asked for a second choice, but couldn’t say what types the restaurant actually had. We had to ask the waiter to come back with the selection. The waiter dropped my dinner roll on the ground and proceeded to crawl around looking for it under the table. There was a miscommunication about the Chef’s special. We accepted the scallops, but my wife asked that hers be more thoroughly cooked. While the scallops were being cooked further, the server tried to take away my wife’s plate.
The night was cold and the heater near our table was not adequate. Both my wife and I needed blankets.
From service to food our experience was great. Even at night you can see the creek. Wonderful anniversary dinner.
A total disappointment, high prices for a very regular meal.
Beautiful setting but the food was nothing special, sone even lacking taste. The setting was beautiful, the waitress service was very good but unfortunately the kitchen was not.
I was looking forward to this meal and it was a let down. For the price the food was just okay and I wanted to be wowed. You are paying for the scenery and that’s about it. Tab.es are very close together and you can hear everyone around you.
A dinner we will never forget
The food at Cress was superb as was the service. The only reason that I gave it a 4 star overall rating was because I had my heart set on sitting outside beside Oak Creek. Now that’s ambiance! The pictures on the website were stunning.
I actually didn’t take the trip all the way from the east coast to enjoy anything less than what the area provided in terms of the stunning and natural environment. It was a bit of a ‘bait and switch’ for me and had I known in advance, I probably would have opted for a more scenic meal at another resort. However, the food was delicious!
We always love coming here to eat. The food and service is wonderful. It is such a romantic place to have dinner. I would recommend L'Auberge to anyone going to Arizona. This is one of my favorite places to visit.
Phenomenal dinner creek side on a beautiful evening.
Despite numerous ownership changes in the past year Cress remains the premier place to go for dinner in Sedona--when you want a special evening with that special person for a celebration or a fine meal. Service was a little less attentive than two years ago in our inaugural dinner there--but still hands down the finest dining experience we have seen in years! We'll be back!
Food was great. Everything was cooked to our liking. Server (Colby) was extremely knowledgeable about wine pairings and ensured we had everything necessary for a wonderful experience!
The venue is beautiful and the wait staff was excellent. The fish was dry and the lamb was small and, while okay, it seemed to taste like powderd rosemary. Desserts were the best part of the meal. Sorry to provide a mediocre review, however, it just was not great but the place and service were good.
Waiter was outstanding and personally interested in us. Menu was good. Food was delicious. The location of our table just above Oak Creek was romantic.
Only unfortunate problem was a wedding up the hill at the resort was noisy - both the music and wedding guests.
