Hands down one of the best meals we have ever experienced!
Place is amazing across the board. Food and ambiance and second to none.
Great restaurant - - - food, service and ambiance exceptional.
I was not overly impressed which is unfortunate as I was really looking forward to a good dining experience. Most of the starter options were "cold" and flavorless. The main options were limited and the 2 dishes we ordered came with a weird potato mash (more akin to puree). The deserts were way too sweet and rich and again - no warm options, which would have been nice on a snowy day like the day we dined there. We left utterly uninspired and reluctant to come back.
Having dined at Cress before, we were expecting a leisurely evening. However, we felt that our waiter was trying to push things along as it was Valentine's weekend. Our waiter was difficult to understand due to the noise level in the restaurant that evening. No doubt we will dine there again, but in the summertime when we can eat outside. And, we will ask to have Colby serve us.
Tasty and cozy. Worth every penny.
Drinks, apps and dessert were great. Vegetarian mains option could have been better
Service was slow-ish though the staff was understanding and warm.
We din get much of a view, though possibly was the weather
Gorgeous spot and amazing food. Absolutely no complaints there.
The service was a bit slow with it taking 1 hour after entrees to get dessert and the check.
Once the check came, our server could not figure out how to use an Amex gift card (exact same as any Amex card) and it got worse when 2 cards were needed to cover the tab. It’s 2019 and people split checks and use gift cards all the time.
We were in from Denver on a Valentine's get away... the staff were excellent and made the experience perfect - one of our best nights out to date!
Amazing birthday experience. The cod was succulent. My filet was near perfection. A smidge disappointed there was some gristle in it. Otherwise a perfect evening!!! Thank you!!
We ate at L'Auberge for the first time on our recent visit to Sedona for Valentine's Dinner. First off, I made the reservation for our dinner months in advance and requested a window table, when we got there they wanted to sit us next to a back wall....finally gave us a large booth that had a fair view of the dining room...not very impressed. Menu was the typical overpriced pre fixe menu for Valentines which is ok if the food is delicious...it was not. It tasted like it had been sitting under a heat lamp. Only bright spot was the service which was very good. I would probably give this restaurant another chance on a regular night just to see if the food lives up to its reputation. Would definitely NOT go when a pre fixe menu.
Price point too high for the value. Food was excellent, very small portions. My ordered entree was reported out when my server returned. Noise level a bit high.
I love the relaxed feel of this place – like a comfortable dining room in a friends home. I definitely would return to try more dishes. Colby, our server, was incredibly knowledgeable and charming. The food was spectacular. I have dined all over the world and have never had cuisine this daring and delicious. We will be back again soon!
Food was exceptional, server extremely attentive, but we had to wait about 20 minutes to be acknowledged after getting our table. It was cold outside so we were all indoors that evening and the noise level eventually got really uncomfortable.
Food has gone downhill in recent years. One dish was excellent....the rest average at best.
The service was « too » much good but especially fast. Just time to order an aperitive and the first waiter brings the starter. No time to eat the preaperitive course.
At the beginning water service in each time we drunk and disappears 30 minutes later.
The main waiter was vert professional and assisted us until the end of menu.
Excellent! We will be back!
Service and food were both great. Unusual offerings included rabbit which was great.
While staying at L'Auberge de Sedona, we dined at Cress. We enjoyed outstanding cocktails, food and wine as well as excellent service. The three-course tasting menu was attractive, and the courses we sampled were creative, visually appealing and delicious. The wait staff was very friendly and attentive. Our server Micheal displayed a thorough knowledge of the entire menu. We look forward to returning to Cress for an outdoor lunch in the spring.
The restaurant setting is beautiful and gives all the appearances of a very exquisite dining experience. Unfortunately very early bread were served. The rolls seemed to be something from a Costco store. Cold, dry, and a little stale. First impressions are important and so I could be overly critical but from that point forward every course seemed fair to bland. I had the lamb loin which was good but the accompanying ragout was not to my liking at all. The extensive wine list was much over priced. To spend nearly $400 for two was too much for such a medium quality dinner. I would not recommend.
Excellent service and food. Price is high but probably earned.
We came up from Phoenix and had a lovely drive into Sedona and then a wonderful gourmet meal by the French chef.. our server was outstanding... it was a lovely adventure all around!
Hum...a little disappointing. My lobster tail with risotto was not what I had expected. Lobster had a watery appearance and taste, as if it had been previously frozen. The risotto totally overpowered what should have been a delicate taste to the dish, with a strong flavor of tarragon or thyme (not sure of the seasoning, but know that it certainly didn’t add to the meal). Our other dish was scallops in a gruyere sauce, very tasty, but very rich. Date cake with caramel sauce was a winner. My husband wanted sparkling water to drink and we were told the restaurant had none (although we had just had some in the bar...) a few feet away...
Food and service were good.
Beautifully prepared and perfectly portioned. Excellent.
Very enjoyable experience with outstanding hospitality from Michael
The food was awesome and the service was spectacular. However, the prices were too high. I wouldn’t go back to experience it again.
What a wonderful location! The food was amazing! It was the perfect spot for a romantic dinner. The service was exceptional and I can't say enough about how good the food was.
Wonderful ambience, wonderful food and over the top service!
Unfortunately, this was an awful experience. We made a reservation on October 11, for New Year’s Eve. I contacted the restaurant several times prior to New Year’s to ensure a good table. The restaurant oversold it’s seating ability, And moved us to a room in another building, that clearly was not set up for food service or public assembly. No bathrooms, no heat, And later to find out it is an artist studio. Not actually part of the restaurant. We tried to be moved to the Main dining room being that our reservation has been made months prior. But no luck. This artist studio had only one server, no bussers, and clearly was not set up for restaurant use. The menu was a prefix dinner at approximately $200 a head. Little by little, other families were moved to the Main dining room, simply by putting cash in the pocket of the right person. Once we were the only family left in that room, the staff was taken away as well. We never received half of the courses that should’ve come with the meal. Not to mention the basics like bread. I’ve never had such a terrible experience with a restaurant using OpenTable. I have full intentions of getting in touch with the CEO of this company. We asked several times during the evening to speak with the manager, but he wouldn’t come. Eventually we spoke to the director of food and beverage, Frank Desplechin, Who continued to shush us as we explained our disappointment. He referred to his staff so many times as “my girls“, and found nothing offensive about this. I have never left a bad review on OpenTable before, but I cannot believe thatThis gentleman actually ruined our New Year’s Eve. One family was moved after paying $ in hand to be seated in a prime area after their second course. Another table left just as disappointed. There were two very sweet staff members, who will be mentioned in my letter to the company, but they were following their managers orders (Danny Ruiz). Photo of kitchen...
This was supposed to be a special NYE dinner for our family, my sister recommended restaurant. It was memorable but not for the right reasons. Hostess off-putting/aloof. Table fine. Waiter friendly but strange/nearly fell over 2x. Food below average to gross. Dessert sorbet good. Amuse bouche arrived after opener and only after pointing out it had been missed. Strange service...3 guys would bring the 5 plates for every course...where was waiter? who knows...
The pretension, the hilariously "meh" food, etc. might have made for a comically bad evening if not for my food allergies being abused. Hostess asked if there were allergies, I responded...yes, gluten, dairy, eggs. Waiter reiterated upon initial approach...gluten, dairy, eggs...right? Yes! BUT...every time food landed (for several courses mind you), it was represented as gluten/dairy/egg-free, but that was not the case. In fact they never got it right (except dessert...sorbet). I unwittingly ate the first course not realizing there was dairy/egg until I looked around and realized my son had my dish. Every dish thereafter was a similar mistake and 2 needed to be sent back (not just switched at the table). When I questioned the waiter about fish on spaetzle, he took it to the chef, came back and told me it was made with corn...I had to argue with him, pointing to my son's plate which looked completely different (but he had already eaten it)...seriously? HOW CAN ANY RESTAURANT BE SO CAVALIER WITH FOOD ALLERGIES? Luckily I think I missed gluten poisoning (which is a more serious issue for me) but the dairy/egg poisoning caused digestive distress for 2 days. I should also point out that my vegetarian daughter received similar treatment...the 3 guys would announce "vegetarian" whatever and then plunk the wrong plate in front of her...come on!
One positive note. The car valets seemed pretty cool/nice/competent. So, if you're going to park your car, this might be a great place, but don't bother with the restaurant.
Food was very good; couple of dishes were not extraordinary. Service was great.
Very good experience, but couple of things could have been tweaked
Ehhh. Surprised people think this place is good. It’s ok at best and that’s not considering the price.
Colby was the most professional and best server I have ever encountered. I travel all over the world and have not seen such attention to detail. He sets a very high bar for others to follow. Very grateful to have him as our server. I was proposing on this day and he added to the overall experience immensely!
Very good food and ambiance. Service was poor - they tried to squeeze our party of 3 into a 2 person table. When asking the hostess for other options she said other options were for 4 people so we couldn’t have them. I had to complain about the table when we started receiving appetizers and there was literally not enough space in order to get moved. Important to note we arrived at 5:30 pm so restaurant was empty most of our stay.
Hostess also failed to take coats which I requested to be hung up right away so I was standing around our table with the coat. Lastly - she failed to take sons coat and ignored us when we called to her to take it.
The wait staff was a bit over attentive - we felt we had no privacy as they were constantly hovering over us. I understand they are being attentive but there is a fine line between attentive and disruptive.
The kids menu is terrible - fast food. I would expect kid friendly small portions of what adults eat. My son barely touched it as he does not eat fried food.
The above may sound nit picky - but when you are spending 600+ on a dinner you expect Michelin Star levels of food and service. Unfortunately the service is not up to par.
Outstanding cuisine, presented with class and style. Everything was top notch, including the service. We would like to experience eating outside, next to the creek sometime. That would be a double treat, the incredible food and the beauty of Oak Creek. Thank you for a great evening. A must for your anniversary.
My husband and I were traveling to Sedona from FL with our 3 high school children. Food, atmosphere and service were fabulous! Even 3 picky teens loved their meals too! Highly highly recommend !
This outing was our last night in Sedona. I was skeptical that L’Auberge could live up to the beautiful scenery, family experience of celebrating Christmas in a perfect Air B&B and other earlier dining experiences during our week in Sedona. It turned out to be a highlight that surpassed our expectations. Sitting by a window overlooking the creek while big fluffy snowflakes gently fell outside was a magical backdrop to our family celebration. The food was unique, prepared by a deep bench of wonderful chefs. We had the 3 course tasting menu which was the right amount of food and beautifully plated. What we loved most was the head waiter and buss server. They were welcoming, wonderfully engaging and the bus server was a stand up comedian who also conveyed the true meaning of hospitality. We loved it.
Mediocre food at outrageous prices.
