Creola Ratings and Reviews
The tables were grimy, some had table cloth but my table did not. I informed the restaurant that it was a special occicassion my boyfriends birthday but they did not do anything special even though we ordered dessert. The appetizers were great, corn bread very good but the main course meals were mediocre at best. No real flavor of New Orleans or Creole!!
Service was awesome. Very timely and very friendly. Avoid the corner seat with a view of the el camino. That corner heats up from the sun. Food was delicious and authentic with perfect sized portions. Walked out of there very satisfied... Overall great experience. We will be back...
The service there was very friendly and attentive w/o being over bearing. The Seafood Gumbo was ok with whole med. shrimp and andouille sausage pieces--but couldn't find any sign of the crab that was to be there also. It tasted fine with the warm corn muffin that came complimentary.
The Cajun Jambalaya wasn't worth the price. It had small pieces of andouille sausage, very little of the smoked chicken, and nothing that resembled tasso ham that was to be in there...unless the 2 little chunks of pure fat was the ham? I wouldn't order this dish again.
This was my second visit to CreoLa and I cannot wait to go back. In addition to having good ambiance, the menu has never failed to disappoint. I recommend the Shrimp CreoLa, crayfish hush puppies, and the etouffee. A great spot to celebrate a new job, an engagement, or a nice birthday.
One of the few places on the Peninsula for creole/cajun food. Excellent gumbo and shrimp/crawfish etoufee, reasonably comparable to same dishes in New Orleans. Large portions with lunch special being a real bargain ($17 for appetizer, salad, and entree).
Very good iced tea (a rarity at many places). Excellent, friendly service. Quiet, so a good
place for a business lunch. Not much ambience, which might explain uncrowded atmosphere at lunch, but the restaurant has survived at this site in San Carlos for a long time.
We tried a variety of dishes. Crawfish hush puppies, shrimp & crawfish bisque, salad, jambalaya, etouffee, filet mignon & all were excellent. The service really excelled. My husband goes through water like a fish and the server was able to keep up with him! Our main server Emily was awesome...she made it a fun experience! We will be back soon.
Always an excellent experience ! All the service staff personnel are warm, welcoming, attentive and professional. You just feel like you are visiting someone's home to eat great, outstanding Louisiana/southern cuisine. We take everyone there--family, friends, business acquaintances--for this charming experience: and we've only received very positive responses! In fact, many local attendees have become regular customers from just one visit. If you want great food--without the pretence--try CreoLa !
The Shrimp Creola was delicious, the shrimp beautifully cooked and the seasoning just right. Loved the Shrimp & Crawfish Etouffee and the butter lettuce salad with goat cheese. The vinaigrette was just tangy enough and the nuts were fresh and nicely toasted. An excellent meal!
No view. Ambiance fair. Not pretentious like most restaurants on nearby Laurel St. Vodka lemonade cocktail unremarkable, served in a water tumbler. Wines decent. Shrimp creole very good. Menu rather sparse. Have been to several large parties there. Overall good experiences.
- restaurant is setup to look very homey... some part of seating is actually a sectional sofa! In fact, if you are on a date would recommend you ask for the seat at the right back corner.
- food was spectacular, I had the fried chicken ... it was perfect. The sauce, collards greens, mashed potatoes, couldn't find any issue (and I am very finicky). My date ordered the gumbo and her only complaint was that it was so good!
- service was also impeccable. friendly staff, absolutely no snooty waiters. They made us feel very comfortable and enjoy the occasion.
This is hands down our favorite restaurant in the Bay Area! Every server we have gotten is competent, quick and friendly. But Emily had stolen our hearts! She makes dining feel like you're eating at a friend' house as opposed to a transactional experience. We love Creola's vibe, the food is incredible, and the staff will take great care of you!
Great service. Friendly staff. Delicious food, and the mardi gras menu is a good deal. The only thing we were disappointed about is the bread pudding not being as good as it used to be. It used to be our favorite dessert. We shared one and took one home. It was served cold, not warm as it's usually served. Even the one we took home didn't taste as good as it used to although we warmed it up.
We went with another couple for dinner and it was fantastic! The service was great and the food was delicious. Will definitely be back and would recommend for every day dining or any special occasion. We were seated next to a large group of maybe 10 people and one of the young men proposed to his girlfriend! It was touching and he even had a musician that strolled on up to serenade them.
