Creola Ratings and Reviews
We have been here before and will continue to come due to delicious food and great service. A taste of New Orleans without the plane ride. From the crawfish hush puppies to the bisque to the fried chicken all of which Is now available on a MardiGras special.
We were all impressed with Creola, and almost all of us have spent time in New Orleans. The service for our large party was excellent and accommodating. The value was phenomenal. Almost all of us enjoyed our selections, which were served beautifully, at the right temperature, and in more-than-sufficient quantity or amount.
The only criticism was from the vegetarian in our group who wanted to enjoy eggplant in her mushroom jambalaya. The description also said tofu was in the mix, but neither was found. When asked, the server said the vegetables are chosen based on what's fresh and available, which is perfectly fine. However, perhaps the menu can state this simply.
We will come back for sure. The varied menu guarantees this! There really aren't that many Cajun/creole restaurants, and this one sure is a gem.
Went to Creola for my birthday. We wanted a New Orleans creole style restaurant we weren't disappointed. We started with Hurricanes to celebrate the New Orleans heritage. All of my party had the fixed prix dinners: appetizer, soup/salad, entre and dessert. We had a variety of food: steak, jambalaya, chicken with a variety of appetizers. Everything was good and nicely prepared. Slightly different take on a jambalaya then you would get in New Orleans but good (sausage and chicken weren't integrated into the dish). Service was excellent. We had reservations and we were promptly seated and served. The only issue we had was when the bill came and we were charged for dessert. Manager informed us that the dessert we had chosen wasn't included in the fixed prix meal but nowhere on the menu was this indicated. After questioning the charge the manager indicated that she would comp the dessert. Other than the dessert issue and great dinner. We will certainly return.
Thanksgiving at Creola was wonderful! Low-key, elegant yet casual surroundings. The renovation is great--light and airy and open. Prixe Fixe menu was delicious! They brought warm cornebread muffins with honey butter when we sat down. Everything I had was authentic and well-prepared. Fried oysters with bacon remoulade sauce, tasty gumbo, and a boneless turkey, duck and chicken roulade with stuffing, green beans, mashed potatoes, winter root veg & cranberry sauce--Fantastic! Finished with pecan pie with a thin layer of cheesecake. Our waiter was ideal--friendly, funny and efficient and very understanding with my 91 year old mom who has Alzheimer's. Thanks for a wonderful holiday, Creola!
This is my favorite to-go place for special occasions like thanksgiving but this time service is below par. It could be that there are lots of people on thanksgiving but they can anticipate that since they have confirmed reservations. I had the drum fish and my friend had the filet mignon which was delicious! My drum fish - not that much. Should have ordered the shrimp and grits or the Turduchen. The French silk pie was good though so overall it was not good as last year. Need some improvement on service on food.
This was our first time at Creole. We were there very early and were able to take advantage of the happy hour menu. The service and quality of good was excellent. Everyone was so friendly. I actually prefer it over Nola in Palo Alto, but to be fair Nola has a very different vibe. But if you are looking for a comfortable, cozy restaurant to enjoy with friends or family, this is a great choice.
I was excited to try this restaurant. Must be a local favorite as it was packed. I was hoping for an inventive, fun cocktail list. Boring and the Manhattan I had was the worst I've ever had. The seats the guys were in were so uncomfortable, we had to insert pillows from the bench seat behind their backs. Food was good.
Host was rude. We had never seen him before. We had a reservation for 5:15 and there were only 4 people in the entire restaurant when we arrived. We asked for a more private table (not the middle of the empty room) and were told that all the other tables were reserved for other parties. (One reservation was for 6:30 so the table would remain vacant until that time. Another table that we requested was still vacant when we left 2 hours later.)
We have been long time customers of this restaurant and usually have had great service and food. The food seemed different this time, and the experience was very uncomfortable. We probably will not return.
This was my first time trying creole cuisine, and I was pleasantly surprised! We had the hush puppies, which were cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious. We brought in our own wine, and the staff was able to accommodate that with ease. For my entree I had the tofu jambalaya, and it was a pleasantly filling vegetarian dish. Great experience all around! The one negative aspect was the noise, every time the door opened you could hear the nearby highway.
