We went because we were craving fish tacos. They were awful. I found three sizable bones in what was unidentifiable fish — it seemed like three different types of fish but none of us could identify any of it. We came to the conclusion that the tacos consist of the scraps and trimmings from other entrees, tossed with a random tasteless sauce. Truly awful and disappointing. Never again.
I brought friends there to experience the #oystergasm Happy Hour special, which was exceptionally delicious. Our server was very well informed on all the different types of oysters, and made solid suggestions. The food was delicious and fresh, and the prices during happy hour made it very affordable. I will be bringing friends there again soon for more oysters.
We loved our dinner for 4 at Crave. It’s a fun, casual place with great seafood. I had the whole roast Branzino and it was delicious. I would definitely go again.
I'm already a fan of Crave on the east side, for fabulous oysters and well prepared fish. Went to the west side for brunch on the July 4th weekend, which may explain how quiet the place was (the east side is often noisy and crowded). Place really had the feeling of an oceanside place, quiet and leisurely, and the brunch food was delicious, if not as thoroughly 'fishy' as the regular menu. Two thumbs up!
The service was great. The waiters were very accommodating when we sent an appetizer back. The oysters were amazing, we ordered the Asian sea bass as an entree and THE DESSERT was over the top.
Fantastic service and the best and freshest seafood in NYC are the norm at Crave.
The food here is excellent. Best seafood restaurant I have ever tried.
The put a lot of effort into proclaiming quality, sustainability, etc. They should put more effort into the preparation of the dishes. Fair on all accounts.
Lobster curry and jerk ribs very good. Fish tacos kind of mushy. Drinks were decent.
Great deal on excellent happy hour oysters, snotty hostess.
Food was great, service was excellent, smart and helpful.
Been here once before and decided to give it another try. The quality here is excellent, probably some of the best seafood in the city. The service was pretty good but a teeny bit slow and not as attentive as one would expect when it wasn't all that busy. The drinks and portions were a *bit* small for the money. I would take, like, half a star off at most for those combined. Otherwise, the sustainable seafood was excellent and super tasty. The service was *pretty good* and polite and funny. The carrot cake (if you're into such things) was a stand out. I would definitely go back.
Good food. Salmon was not served medium as requested.
Very good and interesting menu with an asian inspiration, excellent service and very good deserts
Crave UWS is a fantastic neighborhood restaurant. The staff, the service the food are fantastic. Most important is that source of their fish is supreme. That means a lot to me.
We've always enjoyed the oyster "Happy Hour" at Crave, and think the quality of the oysters are first-rate. We unfortunately landed on a server who was truly horrendous: young bearded man with an English accent. We asked him to describe some of the oyster varieties, and he made a snide remark to the effect of it shouldn't really matter since you're getting the special price! He had no clue what he was serving, and no understanding of the the various oysters and their characteristics. Totally unacceptable and unprofessional at a restaurant such as Crave. As someone who works in the restaurant industry, it is my opinion that he should not be in a customer-facing capacity -- nor in the hospitality business! It will take me a while to get over his abhorrent behavior, and hope to do so soon so that I can return and enjoy what Crave has to offer.
On a positive note, we dined on a Monday evening, and were pleasantly surprised by the Mussels special, which was quite good.
Love eating in the bar area vs the back room. Great Margaritas! Fresh oysters and clams, needed more West Coast Oysters selections. Food is very good and service is perfect.
Oysters for $1-1.50 during Happy Hour!
Service was very good, reservation was honored on time, lovely ambiance and delicious preparation.
Food is consistently delicious, staff is very attentive, and space is large enough where you can hear everyone at your table. Highly recommend
it's such a plus for the UWS--love their $1 oysters--staff is friendly and nice
Great food - the best oysters ever, and wonderful mussels.
Great service - Our super server recommended the perfect oysters to suit our tastes.
Lovely atmosphere ,choice of indoor and outdoor seating, like eating in Martha's Vineyard.
Crave UWS is our go-to restaurant.
We go at least once a week!
This place had AMAZING seafood! Highly recommend the squid ink spaghetti. The service was just okay, but the food made up for that!
Wonderful food and cocktails. The desserts were delicious and everyone was lovely. Perfect service.
Went for dinner..got there early and found Happy Out!
Had great drinks, wonderful appetizers , conversation, dessert and we were not rushed out! Great staff
The happy hour is amazing. Fresh and delicious oysters with an excellent service.
I was able to book a table an hour in advance, but after a while the restaurant was packed. So anticipate that.
A superb brunch spot in the UWS! I highly recommend for anyone looking for a new place to brunch.
Our server was absolutely hysterical and made our night fun
Always good. We wish the menu was a little more varied and there were some specials but what they do they do very well.
Service needs to step it up. Paying top dollar demands top service. Needed to be a little more attentive and smiles, everyone, smiles.
Being told after you order that it will take 20-25 minutes to get your order of oysters from the raw bar makes no sense. You have 2 people and they can’t shuck oysters faster than that? (Although it was well worth the wait).
Drinks were under poured and therefore over priced. Order a bottle of wine instead of by the glass. Always more economical, but at Crave, a real necessity.
Overall experience was great and the food was outstanding. Would definitely go back.
Inattentive server, repeated requests for water refills, not
knowledgeable on the variety of oysters
Wonderful experience. No wait for table. Pleasant servers. Food was delicious. Everything was fresh from the oysters to the fish. Will be back
We started with Oysters and ended with fabulous desserts! Two of us had the Cod and thought it might be the best Cod they had ever had, the way it was cooked was outstanding along with the broth it was served in. I had the Barramundi and it was delicious and cooked to perfection!
Excellent restaurant, friendly staff, and phenomenal food. I will definitely be coming back
Amazing. Would go back in a heart beat The rice dusted calamari..... out of this world and I am gluten free so it was a great treat
Our party of three were all first-timers at Crave and we will be back We split the calamari and crab roll (the latter from the happy hour special menu)... both were fabulous although we all agreed the buttery toasted roll made the crab roll even more decadent. Yellowfin tuna and cavatelli pasta mains were outstanding; the fish taco dish was the only non-standout. People at a nearby table ordered barramundi; we will definitely try that upon our return. Service was attentive; we advised them at the outset we were headed to a show and they managed to our desired departure time.
Absolutely wonderful. Again! Our server, James was helpful and kind as always. As good as always!
I recommend Crave with the understanding that noise can overwhelm all its great qualities, The bar is a sure bet, lots of buzz great value, excellent service. Folks come and go, eating the excellent oysters and you have a great half an hour. Sitting at a table for a full meal, absorbing the excessive nose level makes for a lesser experience.
Got there at 6:00 and ordered drinks and oysters to start. We didn’t get our oysters until well after 7. I ordered the cauliflower soup and my husband ordered the spicy spaghetti. Both had to be sent back to the kitchen because of the incredible saltiness. The waiter brought us the same dishes with apologies from the chef. Getting a waiter to get a glass of water was next to impossible without standing and waving. Don’t k kw what the problem was but it certainly was Not the pleasant relaxing evening diner out that we wanted.
