My husband was witty and charming as always. 😉
Wonderful fresh fish and unique vegetable accompaniments. Friendly, efficient service. Highly recommend!!
We went for the 5-7 Happy Hour where we had a bottle of a nice Pinot Noir (yes, a red wine!) and outstanding selection of oysters. In fact, we had three dozen outstanding oysters. They have a lengthy list of choices of mostly East Coast oysters (our preference) at "Happy Hour" Blue Point oyster prices. The upstairs section (UWS) with chair and table seating usually has a less vigorous noise level than the downstairs area where the seating is bar stool height. On this particular evening the upstairs was closed for a private party and as time went on the noise level got louder and louder and so we left. A couple seated next to us ordered dinner and said the lobster curry was excellent. We were there, however, for the oysters and were in bliss.
We really enjoyed Crave. The James, our server was helpful and nice and fun to talk to. The noise level was perfect -- one of us has trouble hearing and he hates noisy rooms. The food was delicious and service was quick without being too quick. We'll be back.
Outstanding service on a busy night. Excellent food. Great atmosphere. We will be back!
I've loved this place in the past. I was a little less enthusiastic about this recent meal . Nothing seriously awry, everything just a bit less remarkable, not quite as well cooked. A side dish of corn and potatoes struck me as a misfire. Service was GREAT; noise level a bit trying early in the meal, better (obviously) as the evening wore on and some of the tables cleared. Generally I'd recommend the place, but I found myself a bit disappointed by the food on Monday.
Best Fish/seafood on the UWS. Always solid! Mussels on a Monday! awesome and Fish tacos are fun too.
Good experience after we got passed some seating challenges... but
Always love food and service. A little too noisy, especially in the front of the house.
One of my favorites!!! Waitstaff was helpful in wine and food selection.
We had an enjoyable experience at Crave Fishbar. We liked the dinosaur kale salad. Both fish dishes that we ordered were unique and delicious- one was the Seared Market fish and the other was the Miso glazed Baramudi. Our server seemed less than attentive. There was a long wait to take our order after delivering the menus and a long wait to deliver the check. No coffee or dessert was ordered.
Overall, a pleasant experience. However, the food was very mediocre. Everything was a little gloppy and undistinctive. The pasta with squid ink was the sure fire winner, so get that if you go.
Food was very heavy on the salt.
Really professional service, amazing cool. Great selection of oysters, nice menu, great cocktails
Overall very pleasant. I thought the tables on the upper level were too close together for the bench seating on the sides. Hard to get in and out of without upsetting the neighbouring table.
Excellent food and service. The cauliflower soup is delicious. The calamari is a little bland to be honest, but the entrees were delicious! We split the lobster curry and spicy squid. So good! We also had a bottle of Cabernet and it was not too heavy, perfect red to pair with seafood.
Good but not Great.
I had expected more. Something sensational it it was just ordinary at best. Kind of dated too. Sliders? Are you kidding me? Guess the typical diner is a teenager. Don’t think I will do this one again.
GO! Such a great find on the UWS! Sunday brunch runs till 3:30! We had an awesome fried fish sandwich and the black ink spaghetti and shrimp was delightful, as were the Brussel sprouts. Refillable drinks for 90 minutes too! What a Deal!
We went to Crave for Happy hour with friends. The fresh oysters were amazing! The staff is so friendly and helpful! They are knowledgeable and efficient would always recommend Crave to a friend!!
The food and service was excellant. I had the tuna and my husband had the salmon. The fish was fresh, the seasonings fantastic and the service more than attentive. We had to wait just a few short minutes for a table, after making a reservation, and our hostess gave us free drinks as a thanks for our patience. This restaurant has a neighborhood feel and price yet a very high end quality to their food!!! I recommend this restaurant to everyone.
I always love Crave Fishbar. I would have given the food fivestars and I'm sure it deserved five stars for mot folks. But the baramundi was spiced so hot and I could not eat it, until I removed the skin and ate from the rest of the fish. I actually loved the flavor of the fish skin too, so I took big bites at he start. But the hot spice was too much for me. Maybe customers could have been warned so we could say to go light on the heat.
Amazing Oysters. Service was super friendly and efficient. The flavors in the homemade ice creams (we chose fig, marshmallow, and salted caramel) were incredible, although they could have been smoother. I can’t wait to return!
I’ve had many lovely meals here
mostly for brunch, lunch and
oyster happy hour. Dinner was
rather lackluster.
The Kale Salad was gritty but the
flavors were good. It was Monday and I had
the mussels in Miso which was tasteless.
Good frites. The fig ice cream was
insanely delicious.
I know you guys can do better!
Consistently not only one of the best restaurants on the Upper West Side but in New York generally.
Go there for the oyster happy hour and stay for the transformative lobster curry (order with the griddled rice), or any of the other entrees or appetizers.
Crave is one of the better restaurants on UWS - service is professional and always competent and the food is innovative and well executed. The barramundi and cauliflower soup never disappoint. Their focus on sustainably raised fish is great.
My second time to Crave was a letdown. The food was just okay. My first time was much better. Maybe Crave had an off night, but I will not rush back.
Great oysters and wines by the glass. Excellent service. Entrees seem pre-prepared. Excellent ingredients but seem to be held and reheated resulting in concentration of salt, which dominates otherwise fine seasoning. Nice place marred by lazy execution.
Best seafood in town so far. Creative and tasty. Highly recommend.
I hate to leave this review. Perhaps Monday is just a bad night to go. Server was not at all friendly nor was he helpful with menu selections. He seemed to be MIA whenever we needed him. Food quality was not what we usually experience here. Octopus was overdone and dry as were several of the other items we ordered. Unfortunately, this was a disappointing experience.
I always love Crave. The food and service is consistently the best!
Very overpriced for the quality. Cocktails were good and interesting. Food itself was prepared nicely but the dishes themselves weren't that good. I was VERY disappointed with the seared tuna, definitely not worth the price. Would suggest save your money and go elsewhere.
Excellent taste and variety - good value for a premium experience
Date with friends
Service wax horrible. Waiter totally ignored our table. It took repeated attempts to get him to recognize us and take our order. I have been to Crave many tmes over the uears and thoroughly enjoyed. This experience has totally turned me to ff
Dinner with cousins. All the dishes were delicious. Our second server- I wish I knew her name- was great. My tuna with Mexican corn was outstanding.
This is the second time I dined at Crave (upper west side location). I didn't have a good experience after my first visit but kept my mouth shut because I wanted to wait until my second visit to see if the first experience was just an anomaly. Unfortunately, it wasn't. My second visit was even worse than the first one.
On the positive side the service is excellent so if someone from Crave is reading this, please do not take it out on our waitress because she was excellent. However that's where it ends.
The food is just okay and not worth the price. It doesn't take a lot to fill me up but my Salmon piece was so small I literally finished the entire piece I was served in 5 fork fills. It was buried in some other tasteless condiment which I didn't like. My guess is they presented it this way so you couldn't see how small the salmon piece was that they gave you. So I was basically still hungry after my meal which is why we ordered desert which was delicious.
The other bad thing is that I made a reservation so I could sit an actual "normal" table and eat. Instead they sat us in the bar area on high bar stools with our legs dangling (not good for my back) directly adjacent to a very busy staircase - so we had zero privacy and could barely hear eachother speak due to the loud noice and constant sound (and sight) of other diners going up and down the stairs that we were literally right up against. It was a nightmare.
I won't be going back here. There are too many other great restaurants in the area. Crave lost my business and I won't recommend them to anyone.
Great evening! Best oyster shooters! Just great all around!
Loved the restaurant. Our waiter was interesting and informative. The cherry stones were too delicious and helped us pretend it was still summer. Was catching a concert at the Beacon and the timing was perfect. My husbands 60th birthday and his branzino with fennel was his favorite ever. Was advised to go here by a friend who has known the owner since his childhood and we are glad we listened! Only wish we had had time for dessert
I have never had less than a perfect evening there b
They need a cat. I am sure they will fix the problem immediately.
