Go for the food - it is fabulous. Short on atmosphere.
Food, wine and service were all excellent.
This is an oyster lovers delight. Crave always has a good variety of oysters and they are all available for 1 dollar during certain hours (pre-dinner). The seafood is super fresh with lots of good choices on the menu, some unusual. We typically go to the west side branch of this restaurant and enjoy them both.
food was amazing as usual
table a bit uncomfortable, but it’s nyc
The place for raw bar especially for happy hour! Great sides too. Totally worth a go. Sit upstairs if you want a quieter area to chat! Attentive service too.
My wife and I thought the fish was very good considering the fact that the restaurant appears to be tilted toward its shellfish raw bar. Service was prompt and courteous. Being a relatively narrowly-housed restaurant in Midtown it can become fairly noisy during weekend evenings . The hostess and waitress were accommodating in reseating us away from the raw bar area toward the front window which allowed us to have a more pleasant conversation.
I would recommend it for a small variety of fish and its plentiful shellfish selection.
went here for a valentine's day meal and was not disappointed, the oysters and all of the seafood was fresh and delicious, creative combos I'd not seen before! would recommend for a date night/special occasion.
Oysters were ice cold and a delicious way to start our meal! Everything was cooked to perfection, salmon, tuna, and chicken! Everyone enjoyed and it was all responsibly priced
My fiancé and I had dinner at the Crave Fishbar - Midtown on Friday February 16. I will start by saying we would not hesitate to visit again. We arrived in the City later afternoon without a plan and looking for a place for dinner that served fish. We found Crave Fishbar on Yelp and it sounded interesting so we made a quick reservation.
The place is small and quaint but very nice and comfortable. Our server Kristen was the best. Very pleasant and attentive but not overbearing where we thought we were being rushed. She was very knowledgeable on the dishes and helped us choose.
Unfortunately, we did not know about the Happy Hour oysters so we missed the time. However, we did have 6 and they were very good. Fresh and cold. They served a house seasoning with eh oysters in addition to the Minuet and cocktail. I cannot recall what it was called but you have to try it. We also shared the Italian Burratta, this was a wonderful twist. Most Burratta are all cheese, but the addition of the shaved persimmon and pears really kicked it up
For dinner my fiancé had the Squid ink pasta and I had the Barramundi. Both were exceptional with plenty to eat without overdoing it.
When we left we were very satisfied people.
Had a fabulous dinner on Friday night for my daughter’s birthday. We started with oysters which were some of the best I’ve eaten. Had the Lobster Curry which was absolutely delicious. Our server was attentive and kind. Offered a special dessert for my daughter’s birthday. Will definitely go back!
Food was too buttery, all the dressing and sauce were over power the seafood. Expected to eat a nice lobster dish, not with pasta and tomato sauce which again over powder a good taste the labster.
This was our 2nd time here. They had a set menu for Valentine’s Day. The appetizer course was delicious, but our main plate (barramundi) was quite bland. We will be back for the happy hour when they serve fresh oysters for a buck a piece.
All was wonderful
Always great during happy hour. Tons of selections and all for a dollar
Good seafood. It seemed to be a popular place with locals. I was happy with my meal
We were celebrating a birthday and the staff was great to help surprise and the food is always phenomenal
A lovely setting for an informal work lunch. The cauliflower soup was rich and creamy and the fish sandwich was best of breed. Friendly and helpful service
Very refreshing to experience great food that is affordable in the City. Cauliflower Ouster Soup is a must try, but Calamari, Crayfish Sandwich, Burrata Salad, everything was fresh and delicious.
Great oyster bar happy hour selection included both east and west coast oysters. The fish tacos we're also delish!
Great place, service, food and specials. Happy hour $1 oysters are awesome!! Will definitely be going back!
It was my first time dining here and I met my friends for dinner. We were seated at a table upstairs, which was lovely. We arrived in time for happy hour and took advantage of the oysters and drink specials. Our appetizers and fish entrees were all cooked perfectly with a beautiful presentation and nice portion of fish, vegetables and toppings. I highly recommend and will be back again!
As first time guests, we were very pleased overall. Good food and service combined with a very pleasant staff always makes for an enjoyable experience. Booths were a little tight, although the host offered us a roomier table, but it was too near the door- not good for a damp, blustery day in Manhattan. Menu was limited, but choices were excellent. Everyone enjoyed.
Excellent range of superbly fresh oysters. Very well presented, on crushed ice with lemon wedges, and a variety of condiments on a plate. Narrower selection than the Oyster Bar in GCT, and minus its depressing atmosphere. Crave Fishbar is unpretentious and straightforward Following the oysters, two of us had delicious Thai lobster curry with equally delicious rice. So-so squid ink spaghettini reported by the third person in our group. When discussing wine selection, our server suggested we speak to Charlie, the manager, who asked smart questions e.g. if we were oyster purists (meaning lemon only) or liked them spiced, and recommended accordingly. Similarly, he suggested a wine which paired well with our lobster curries in particular. At end of meal, we all asked for fresh mint tea. We got warm cups of hot water with tea bags. The nearest they could get to that was exchanging the bags for some fresh leaves in a small bowl. That ought to be an easy fix.
We went to Crave Fish Bar as we had heard about their happy hour between 5-8. The oysters were amazing for the price. Great happy house with $1.00 Oysters.
consistently good experience with the food leading the way
I have come to Crave a few times. It has been on my list of favorite places to go to. They have an amazing $1 Oyster HH, Mussel Mondays, service and ambiance. Each time I have been here, the service has been top notch as well. It makes all the difference in the world. You can be in an amazing restaurant with amazing food, but if service is terrible, it affects the entire experience. I really appreciate the great servers you have. Everything is amazing! Top recommended choice.
Crave was a terrific foodie experience. Our fish was amazing. The Brussels sprouts are not to be missed. The space is tight in the front, as there was an event that no one told us about. The decor was retro chic, and had a very cool vibe. Service was good. My biggest issue was that we asked them to move the two two-tops together next to us so we could move away from the entrance (we had made a special occasion reservation) and the hostess told me that that was reserved for two parties... Not true. A very attractive group of three people from Spain showed up and they moved the tables together for them not 20 minutes after we arrived. We were a party of 4 with my teenaged daughter and my parents, so apparently we weren't cool enough to rate the two-top combination. So, for that I am docking them a few points for being cliquey. And it is too bad as the food is exceptional, a bit overpriced compared to other restaurants, but happy they are sustaining our oceans.
Service was terrible. Appetizers did not arrive so the waitress offered us dessert. Why didnt she offer us the food we had ordered. She knew she messed up all evening so she just avoided us. Was promised lobster salad from the lunch menu for dinner by the Friday night manager and they said he was wrong. If the manager is incompetent, no wonder the staff was also. What a total disappointment. Other than the oysters which were served mis-labled, everything was ordinary, The red crab salad for 18 dollars was sooo bad.. Nobody wanted it after one bite. Saw the owner on television and he looked like a nice person. We all felt really bad and left hungry.
Here's the scoop. The oyster Happy Hour is awesome; I see why so many comments revolve around that. Negative--2 dozen oyster limit (assuming per table). Positive--I lived in New Orleans for 7 years and had more than my fair share of oysters....never have I experienced such a panacea of oysters. It was awesome experiencing the variety and trying to taste and detect the differences with a friend who loves oysters as much as me....The spicy tequila oyster shooters were pretty delicious as well.
Another positive--the commitment to sustainable fish, etc.
Now the reason I couldn't rate this above a three is because, as far as the food goes, this is the end of the positives. Okay the grilled octopus was pretty good too. But my husband literally walked away in utter disbelief at how much we spent, having had, in his words, some of the worst food he's ever had for that price. The fries were literally meh, the fish tacos on the happy hour menu were absolutely a waste of time, tiny, and nondescript. The salmon was surrounded by flavor but it was not cooked well and they seemed to have forgotten the fish (and was teeny tiny). The salad was a good size and had some nice things going on with the figs and feta...but let's face it, a salad does not a restaurant make.
To end on a very positive note, the service was possibly near to the best I've ever experienced, especially considering this place was hopping. SUPER attentive and very patient and kind servers, didn't feel like they were annoyed that we came for happy hour and stayed 4.5 hours. Also they brought a birthday treat for my friend with a candle, which I totally didn't expect. So I would go back for happy hour with someone that reeeeally loves oysters; other than that, there are way too many other places to try.
Went on a Friday night for oyster happy hour & dinner-definitely make a reservation as it was packed at 5:45 and it’s not a huge space! Oysters and cocktails were amazing and the $1/oyster happy hour is a great value. Ordered some food off their happy hour menu-grilled fish tacos and fried fish sliders and those were tasty as well. Attentive service.
Oyster lovers rejoice. We come here for the happy hour ($1 oysters) and stay for dinner everytime we are in town. They feature a changing mixture of east coast and west coast oysters. What is great is that you aren't stuck with a chef's choice but can select various types of oysters that you prefer. We usually order 3 dozen to 4 dozen oysters for 2 people. You can only order a dozen at a time. We usually order a bottle of Muscadet (not crazy about Prosecco as we find it too sweet for the oysters). For dinner we generally share a squid ink pasta or a market fish garnished with vegetables. Admittedly, the decor isn't posh, but $1 oysters make up for that.
Excellent! My wife always orders salmon given the opportunity. She very much enjoyed your presentation ("maybe the best"!). My poached cod was very good, however a tad under cooked.
The calamari appetizer was the best we've ever experienced! We didn't particularly like the closeness of table placement, but realize the dining space is limited.
We tried to enter at 4:45 pm for an early before dinner cocktail, but the door was locked. found a competitor nearby to escape the cold and participate in happy hour.
Really glad we found Crave, recommended by a friend, all expectations were fulfilled!
This is one of our faves. Incredible $1 oysters with a number of choices! How can you go wrong!
We had a wonderful dinner at Crave Fushbar. Our waitress was friendly, attentive and very educated on all if their dishes. We started with Oysters and prawns both wonderful. For entrees we had the lobster curry which is an excellent treat. Then we also had the tuna steak cooked perfectly and paired with a delicious spicy grain. Mood is upbeat. Small so make reservations!!
The food was delicious. Menu a bit esoteric but can order any fish grilled simply. Enjoyed everything!!
Outstanding food and service was great. I had the Lobster special with shrimp and scallops and it was the best I have ever had. Nice wine list and well priced. I will go back the next time in NYC.
Had a great meal on a rainy night. Everything very fresh and fun. Great service.
Birthday dinner with my dad, overall a great experience.
