Crate Restaurant & Wine Bar
It was our first time eating here. We ate outside on a beautiful evening. The prices are reasonable, but the portions were very small. Our food could have been warmer. They were also out of a few of our wine choices. I ended up ordering a lemon drop. Would not recommend that either. Overall, it was a disappointing experience.
We had a reservation, and showed up on time. 3 people. Got seated right away but then waited over 25 minutes at the table with no service. In that time, a middle-aged lady (not our waitress) came by to offer us a wine tasting which was dry and tasty, but we had no water on the table and were all super thirsty. The wine taster lady made a snarky remark about our waitress (in front of us.. weird?), who was obviously overwhelmed and was the ONLY server in sight in the whole restaurant. The lady then walked to the bar (about 5-6 feet from us) where we listened to her chat with another employee (or owner?), ignoring us. Our waitress came by and apologized multiple times, both women at the bar watched her drowning. We stood up and left the restaurant in front of the two women at the bar and they didn't care. On the way out, our waitress THANKED US for leaving. I felt sorry for her. This is our 4th time there, and the service has only gone down hill. For $15-30 a plate, I expect more. We won't be returning.
Delicious food, excellent service, friendly and very welcoming/comfortable ambience.
Service was slow. Not sure why. We had a 6 pm reservation and our food came out at 8:15 pm. My meal was very small and ok. Wouldn't order it again. My husband did enjoy his dinner however. Loved the music and ambience of the place. Very friendly wait staff. Just very slow and I left hungry. Perhaps returning from the pandemic was tough for the restaurant. I won't be returning for awhile though.
Air fresheners are great in a bathroom but it ruins the wine tasting experience when you smell it rather than what's in your glass. They were not busy but only 1 person working in front and she was telling us her frustrations- and the cheese board was just all piled on top of each ingredient.
Little slow getting drinks ordered and brought to us but food came out in a decent amount of time. Could be a little friendlier when they bring out the food. Felt the food was dropped on the table and very little interaction. Not unpleasant but not friendly.
Service is always super slow. The food is usually good, but today is was horrible. We won’t be back.
Great food. Service was good, just a little understaffed.
Ambience is great. Food was great!!
We love this place! The owner is outstanding and the server is the the best!
Menu totally misrepresents what you actually get. Very over priced small plates and service is extremely slow
We came for the dine on trade event and without a reservation were unable to get in. We came back the next week with a reservation. The host remembered us from the week before without any hints- not important, but definitely impressive. They offered a limited menu because of the event, and several options were no longer available (we had a late reservation- understandable). We ordered just about everything still available on the menu and shared as a table. All the food was exceptional. Every employee was above and beyond hospitable. One employee mentioned they were still figuring out the menu and working through all the "new-restaurant" kinks, and haven't heavily marketed online yet because they want to make sure all the details are right. If this was "sub-par" in their eyes, I can't wait to see what's to come. We'll be back, for sure.
The cheese board is horrible. There were only cheese crumbles. The cuts of meat on the board were so tough and clearly low quality. We had to open and serve our own wine. Do not recommend at all!
Good bar food, service. House music a bit loud for casual conversation.
I paid $14 for two “lobster rolls” which consisted of a Hawaiian roll with a tiny piece of lobster smushed between the pieces. Service was extremely slow. Do not recommend.
Wonderful small place. We definitely be regulars
I made a reservation but when I arrived they could not locate it, even though I had the confirmation email. They did not end up seating me. Highly disappointed.
The menu the night we were there was very limited due to a special event on Greer. However one in our group was vegan and there wasn’t anything on the menu for them. Nothing on their website mentioned the limited menu.
Overall this was a good experience. The food was excellent. When we arrived it was very empty, and it became clear that there was only one staff member for the entire front of house and bar. Which was great for us, because he was very good at what he was doing. until more customers started showing up. We were blessed to have our orders in before the crowd showed up. They might not have had the same experience. Hopefully the ownership of this establishment can find some more resources to help out, because the food is excellent, and I would definitely go there again.
This is a wonderful place to go to enjoy a glass of wine, and to try a creative new dish. Plan to share their small plates. You will want to taste every entrée!
Food was really salty. They didn’t have the wine we wanted off the menu and asked to chose another but they didn’t have our backups either. Staff was really nice but don’t think we will go back there again.
Service was very slow as there was only one employee working the front of the house , but the food was excellent.
We had excellent food and enjoyed the music that was playing. Our server was very friendly. I would definitely go again and I hope others do too! No crowd at all. Give them a try. Crab cake was excellent as were the duck spring rolls
Enjoyed our first visit! My lobster Mac and cheese was quite rich and good! My side order of greens was delicious! My husband had Cajun pasta with crawfish and he enjoyed it also. Chef and owner both came out and spoke to us. Menu is somewhat small but maybe will expand with time. We were offered a sample of wine right when we came in -nice touch! Looking forward to dining there again!
Food was fabulous. Our party of 4 each had something different and each loved their dishes. They were every accommodating for someone who was vegan.
Made a reservation and when we showed up was told they are closed for a special event. Little hard to find another place on Valentine’s Day for dinner.
First time for our party of 6 dinning Crate Restaurant & Wine Bar Everything is as excellent, great bar & wine selection. The food was delicious! The cook and the owner came over and check on us & made us feel very welcome! It was my Birthday and upon arrival there was a bottle of wine and a card signed by the staff! Would highly recommend. Nice little jewel in Greer SC
This restaurant was fantastic. The food was delish and the owner came over and spoke to us as well as the chef. The appetizer of Lobster sliders was great. And the chef gave us a sample of the most fantastic cheese cake.
This was our third time there and it never disappoints.
We are happy that you enjoyed your visit. Looking forward to having you back soon!
Very few people and still took over hour and thirty minutes for service. Once we got food it was very small portion and bland. Wont go back too many reataurants around that are far better especially for the price.
It took 30 mins and multiple times asking to get a glass of water after sitting down. There were only 2 of us and we ordered 2 apps and 2 dinner entrees. We are accustomed to eating tapas style dinners, however, the portions for Dinner entrees were insanely small and not hot when we got them. We both left hungry after a $90 meal. It took 50 mins to get the apps, one being a salad. The service wasn’t great, the music was awful, and the food is grossly overpriced! There were 2 servers trying to greet customers, service tables, run food out, and bus the other tables after customers left. There are way nicer and better restaurants in downtown Greer. This place won’t survive.
Great food, great atmosphere, great service!
I was so glad to try this new restaurant in the Spartanburg area. It is located in a historic building in downtown Greer, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. We had a couple appetizers which were all delicious. Our meals were impeccable, just the right portions of this incredibly indulgent creations. Staff was friendly and attentive. I highly recommend if you’re in the area.
