About this restaurant

  • Good for groups
  • Great for outdoor dining
  • Lively
At Romanos we specialise in the delicious highlights of food and wine from all across Italy's twenty regions. If we can make something ourselves, we do - dough, breads, sausages, salami, pickles, and pasta of course - the rest is carefully sourced from Italy.

Located in the historic North Rotunda building at Cranside Kitchen, Romanos occupies the ground floor, named after the original Mr Romano who opened his restaurant many years back. With close proximity to the Hydro & Scottish Event Campus we are the perfect stop to get fuelled up before a gig or concert.

Our Neapolitan pizza's are a hit with both locals and tourists alike and something we have become quite famous for.

Don't like you automatically have to pay a service charge, even if you select to opt out. Generally I am happy to tip when it's great service and you have actually been served and the person may have offered advice on food options...but as you have to use the app, there is no such interaction. Whilst it worked during covid, it removes the personal touch, and encourages everyone to oggle at their mobile phones. So you basically have to tip even though you are getting a downgraded experience as you are not physically served!

Had booking for 17.30 and got there at 17.25 to find people queuing inside that had 17.15 bookings. finally got seated about 17.45 after standing in a cold entrance for about 20 minutes. Not a fan at all of the menu service as you need to QR code read and scroll through menu to find what you want. Finally i choose Singapore noodles with king prawn and chicken. Taste was fine but only got 2 king prawns and the chicken was in the tiniest pieces. My Son got a Satay and with the other curries I saw why would you serve a curry on a plate just about bigger than a side plate and the accompaniment on same plate, unable to mix or have even next to each other. Aware that this is handy venue for concerts as we were but felt no atmosphere even though the place was busy. Don't think be booking here again.

This place was exactly what we needed. We were directed to our seats and kindly explained what we needed to do with scanning the table etc. The process is simple enough and lets you order from any one of the restaurants in the complex. Perfect especially if you’re in a group and if different people are paying. There was no messing about with ordering drinks, then a meal just all done in one via the system. And really quick service also. Food was amazing even the picky eaters rated the food!

Such a disappointment after being at The Rotunda many times. The main cane before the starters. Food was cold. No interaction with waiting staff as all on line ordering. Very expensive and tasteless . Pizza was about the only nice thing. Do not offer different menus if you cannot bring the food in order and also together. My daughter had nearly finished her main before I got mine then we got our starter. Not good at all and will not return.

We went here for a meal before the Kevin Bridges gig at the Hydro. Only option available was the set price menu at £21.95 for 2 courses which we only discovered on arrival. Food was nice enough and hot, although starters were fairly small. It was overpriced for what it was, and the blaring music playing was very annoying and made it hard to hold a conversation. Would not rush back

Service was terrible no interaction with staff and we had to ask where our starters were after waiting a long time.

We opted for the Italian restaurant but soon realised there wasn’t a massive choice so asked to be switched the the Greek restaurant which was done with ease. The QR code made things quite impersonal with the waiters/waitress’s but I suppose it made for quicker service once it was done on the phone, think we are just a bit more old school. Food arrived, two starters each and a main for under £20 - everything tasted fantastic and was great value for money. The place was quite busy but Kevin Bridges was on so understandable. Would definitely go back.

Will never go back. I would recommend going elsewhere. Was there for pre theatre Kevin Bridges menu £21.95 for 2 courses. No menu to read physically there. Drinks and food all ordered through an app. Never seen such a limited drinks menu in a restaurant before. The menu via the app for food itself never gave any description or listed ingredients which will be bad for people with allergies. I literally ordered my food and drink and my starter arrived in 2mins...not impressed as it was clearly microwaved! Was warm in the outside but cold on the inside which would suggest frozen and cooked in the microwave. Bread supposed to be toasted but was soggy. The main of the spaghetti carbonara was OK, least it was hot. I asked if they had a dessert menu afterwards and was told we don't do desserts, but can offer a coffee(not what i asked for)Never had a restaurant who doesn't do desserts before in my life. Overall I would say service is not great. Not once did anyone ask if our meal was OK. Seemed to just care about getting people in and out again! If I were you i'd avoid this place. Not worth the cost. Such a shame as the previous Italian that was there before Romanos was far superior.
