I will recommend this restaurant to my friends. And post some pictures on social media.
Omakase was phenomenal. Refined, tasty. Gabby, our waitress, was knowledgeable of the entire menu. She also had great sake and cocktail recommendations. Pepe, the executive chef, came to our table to see how our meal was going. No rush even though our reservation was at 830. Just an overall treat!
Cranes offers the most interesting food that I know of in the District. The restaurant is beautifully designed, and as a five-time return customer, I can vouch for the very high level of service. Alfred
Every dish was delicious. Serving are very generous for small plates. Focused menu, yet good variety of dishes offered. The outdoor seating is welcoming, with greenery and heaters. Will definitely return.
The food was delicious I ordered the 6 course meal which was beautifully served and unusual. We ate outdoors which was not to noisy though it is in a busy part of DC
The food and service is amazing! We loved the Omakase and the service was impeccable
Food cold, drink sticky at bottom no napkin or coaster; food uninspired... dissapointing bao bun

The food was amazing, but the general beverage/checking on us/bringing the check part of the service was not so great. We ate outside with a view of the street traffic - the ambiance inside was much better.
The food was nothing short of sublime! When visiting order the Omakase, well worth the modest expense with the pairing. Got a chance to speak with the head chef and owner. Truly a humble artist and his craft clearly shows his passion. This is a can't miss and the DC area owes it to itself to make sure this wonderful experience doesn't fall victim to the economy/covid downturn. Please visit, we enjoyed it thoroughly during our visit during the cherry blossoms.
The food is extraordinary. You must try the churros. you’re welcome.
A great restaurant that focuses on the cuisine and the experience. Definitely embodied many of the dishes I have had during my travels to Spain. Worth the experience.
Wonderful dishes paired with great beverages! Our server was also amazing.
Great place with great service. The presentation of the food was beautifully done (we had the 8-course meal with pairings and some). Two of the dishes were too salty, but the rest (& the extras they gave) were absolutely delicious! And fresh oysters every day! The pairings also went surprisingly well with each dish (none missed each flavor profile). All the staff were very helpful and friendly from start to finish. We will definitely go again. Also, it is very COVID-19 friendly. Outdoor space is cute and in an alley as well as well heated with propane fire features. Inside is very well designed, including even the bathrooms, and spread out. Also has a private event room for larger parties.
A stellar experience! We had the omakase with the wine / sake pairing. Every bite was a treat. The service was gracious and efficient. Highly recommended.
Great food and beautiful restaurant.
I can't wait to go back, it was so good. The duck was the best I ever had. Mussels, the best I ever had.
We went with a group of guys and because we were hungry we did the omakase meal. It was a disappointing amount of food. Halfway through the courses, we added several appetizers and mains to make sure that there was enough food to go around.
What we ate was decent but definitely not worth $85/person.
Great experience. They were very accommodating, and provided an incredible Omakase and beverage pairing. Make sure you try the mushroom soup!
Exquisite expensive elegant
My only comment is my drinks were very light. The amount in each glass was less than what you would think should be poured when you are at the chef's table.
My favorite would definitely recommend to anyone! Good food is all I can say!
Excellent meal, thank you. Glad that you are going strong despite the pandemic.
Food did not seem fresh. Service was painfully slow.

Amazing service, great food, beautiful presentation. Love this place.
The food was delicious. Great ambience and appreciate all the safety precautions during this difficult time. Will definitely go back.
We had a wonderful special occasion birthday brunch at Crane's. Food and drinks were delicious and presented beautifully. My only complaint is that the dessert portions were very small considering their price.
Great place with plenty of capacity. We first went when they opened right before COVID shutdowns back in Feb and it was good but they were still working out the kinks. The second time was even better. Was able to snag a reservation on Friday an hour before when no other place had availability due to the 25% capacity rule. This is the best kept secret in DC and won’t last long once things fully reopen. Highly recommend.
The dishes and presentation of their omakase menu were very creative and tasty. We had a wine pairing as well and this is a great value. The staff is well informed and very attentive, kindly informing us on the dishes ans their complexity. I think we have to be fair and realize that it’s hard to have a lively ambiance in the aftermath of COVID-19 in this location. I wish them to stay in business a long time, continue to put out quality food like this and return to a lively atmosphere as soon as the times allow. Well done!
Nice menu and quality of food!!! Highly recommended!!
Wonderful food and great service. Get the omakasi. Covid protocols were great, and they also have outdoor dining. I love the fusion of Spanish and Japanese cuisine. Very unique and special meal
Food was phenomenal and I am so glad I listened to our server Saraih and ordered the Bento box. What a nice surprise and great chance to savor the chef's talent and creativity. My low scores on ambience and noise are a little unfair as I asked to be seated outside where option is limited to street seating- that's what you get. Inside is NICE!
The chefs 6 course is the way to go! I’ve done it 3 times and the dishes are beautiful and delicious!
We had the tasting menu plus pairing and it was amazing. Courses were a mix of Japanese and Spanish cuisine, with either a sake or wine. Great experience tasting sake and loved being out at a new restaurant in DC.
Food is average at best. Evening menu is extremely limited in food and drinks. One dish was not edible (octupus) while some other ones were ok.

My experience was amazing! So many flavors, I was in heaven. Can’t wait to go back!
Wow! We loved Crane. My first time doing indoor dining during Covid. We felt safe and well taken care of.
Great service and the drinks were great. It's a great option for special occasion.
Thank you so much! We’re thrilled you enjoyed your time. We look forward to welcoming you back soon!
Great food!
Fantastic food and drinks - really recommend the hamachi and patatas bravas. The bao buns are alright but they should had a solid vegetarian and meat option for them.
Thank you so much! We’re thrilled you enjoyed your time. We look forward to welcoming you back soon!
Amazing! And cheap too
We wanted to try something new and ended up not liking any of our dishes. I think food here just didn’t go with our personal preferences. Our main server was very attentive and friendly. Some of food runners seemed to be lazy about explaining each dishes. Price seemed fair, not too expensive.
