Over the years, the Cowgirl has hosted many famous CW recording artists including Dolly Parton, Reba MacIntire, Bonnie Rait, Roseanne Cash, Billy Ray and Miley Cyrus, Roger McGuinn and many others. We are proud to be a part of uniting true wild-west spirit with the independent, creative energy of NYC.
Everybody was really sweet and food was really good- the burger was the bomb and their salsa is delicious. Margaritas were just right.
They were out of a few items we ordered. But the food we did have was excellent. The spicy margaritas were great. Staff was the best.
Hadn't been there in a long time and don't know why. Pretty sure I will be going more often again now. Great place.
My boyfriend and I took my mom out for a very belated birthday dinner. We all got the chicken fried chicken which came with mashed potatoes and a veggie blend. We all very much liked the food, but we felt it was a little bland. I added the hot sauce they provided to each table and it made the food exponentially better. Maybe it’s designed that way? I used to come here all the time as a little girl and the ambiance is almost exactly the same. Cute, rustic, just no more picnic tables the way I remember. Our server was really nice and attentive, food came out quickly. I’d definitely go back again, but I’d try something different next time. 100% recommend going to Cowgirl!
Loved Cowgirl! Excellent service, food and ambience. We had a great time. Their frozen margaritas are out of this world. Fajita was exceptional. We’ll be back soon :)
You go to Cowgirl for the experience, not the food. However, on this evening the food was good enough (and very well priced for the neighborhood). The decor is fun to look at and the music is not too loud.
It's always fun to go to Cowgirl, with locals or out of towners. Welcoming staff and reliable dishes.
A nice experience, friendly staff. Delicious food.
On a sunny day the room where we were sat was dark. We will be back
Food is uneven, some things are good, some things are bland. The Chicken fried steak was tender, but the sauce was bland and so were the mashed potatoes. The onion rings were good and the Margaritas were delicious.
I had my 40th Birthday brunch at Cowgirl yesterday and I loved it !! They were super accommodating with the space for our party of 14 , and even sat us incomplete even though their policy is to seat only complete parties .
We had a few children in the party and the kids menu was great with tons of options .
The brunch menu has a lot of choices for entree and a good range of appetizers to share .
Our server (younger lady long brown hair ) was excellent. Attentive without being pushy and also very efficient.
Good stuff , will definitely be back !
Nice outside environment.brisket was ok. Nice waiter
Always a fun and celebratory place to go. a little loud, and the food wasn't quite as good as I had remembered from the last time I was here (year plus ago)
Family friendly. Loved the baked potatoe ice cream- yum yum
Food was okay for everyone. Chosen because it was kid friendly. Large portions and friendly staff in a casual atmosphere. Too many other places in the city to try for me to go back.
Always great to eat here.
Perfect place to take kids. We had a delicious brunch served timely. Nice drinks list. Cute decor. A bit loud and we got potatoes instead of the grits we wanted with our eggs, but they were delicious , too.
Best nachos ever!
Cowgirl still has it!! After all these year, this is still the best place to go for a group celebration - they have lots of room, welcome groups, and their prices are so reasonable! We love the drinks and the food and the ambience. Don't change a thing!
Went there with a party of 20 and the service food and drink were great
Awesome margaritas! Great happy hour from 10 am to 6 pm.
I have been going to Cowgirl with various friends and family members for more than 10 years. It has always been one of my favorite NYC institutions. The margaritas never fail, and until recently, the food never failed. I would always send out-of-towners there for an authentic NYC experience that was also reliably good. Sadly, the last two times I have been there, I've had a very poor experience with the food. What used to be my favorite item on the menu, the Catfish Salad, has changed fairly drastically (the batter used to be crisp and thick, like the consistency of a buttermilk/cornmeal fried chicken), and now, having had it two times recently I can confirm that it's no better than a frozen fish fillet from the supermarket. Plus, most of the salad greens were entirely rotted. I will not give up on Cowgirl yet, because its place in my heart is too special, but I really hope they start to turn the food back around and keep its stellar reputation for many NY-ers to come!
Nice place and nice service.
They actually were not able to accommodate me, but they called me in advance to let me know. Since I have been there before I am giving it a high rating. It's consistently a wonderful place to eat and to hang out. A nice Greenwich Village stalwart. Let's hope it doesn't get priced out like all the other good places.
I’ve been so many times for dinner, but the brunch was out of this world!!!! I had the Doc Hollandaise and my husband had the Texas Two Step and we both were over the moon. Me especially 😈. Everything was perfect, and the cheese grits were amazing with our meals. Always love coming to Cowgirl!
Great value for NYC, the food was delicious and served hot
Soirée très agréable avec repas de très bonne qualité!!!
Toute la famille a adoré
Amazing margaritas and so much fun with friends!! Reasonable prices.
Good food, friendly service and fun atmosphere made for a nice way to celebrate Independence Day.
This Western-kitsch oasis the West Village has been here for 30 years and has been a reliable haven for margaritas and Tex-Mex/Southern fare, not to mention its music room and wonderful nostalgic decor. The Frito Pie and the Ice-Cream Baked Potato are personal faves from the main menu and they do a superb omelette during brunch hours.
Totally disappointing! Made a reservation for 9pm for 9ppl on Friday night. Upon arrival I asked if they can add a 10th person and they said yes. They asked if we were all there and I said 9ppl are and to tell them when the 10th arrives since they don’t seat incomplete tables. The 10th came 9:05pm and they said they’d get the table ready. We were seated at 9:45pm!!!! WTF?!?! If you’re gonna tell people you won’t seat an incomplete party then seat them when they are complete!
Cowgirl was fantastic! It was fun and busy, but the service was still good. The food was excellent. We loved it!
Always our favorite. We always look forward to the round table, great food and catch up! Thank you!!
Dinner with family
Food was great, our server was just as great! Love that black eye pea salsa!!
Southern standards in a fun atmosphere. Kid-friendly. One of our favorite spots for the laid back atmosphere, bright colors, Southern and Tex-Mex comfort food, and right in the heart of the West Village.
Food and service were very good. Ambiance was good for moderately priced lunch. Kid friendly but also good brunch cocktails.
Such a great spot! All around good time as always!
Great service, great food, great ambiance... would go back for a drink after work or for a meal with the kids.
I had made a dinner reservation for myself, with plans to see Emily Duff and her band perform in the back room. The show totally sold out all the tables, but the Cowgirl staff was nice enough to call me early that afternoon to let me know they would make sure I got a spot at the bar where I could eat. It was so nice to get that phone call. An unexpected personal touch. I was , of course, fine with the arrangement.
Everything was superb. The host and my server were both friendly and helpful. The dinner was delicious(I had the po'boy). The beer was cold. The concert by Emily & her band was brilliant. As it was a birthday celebration for Emily, we even all got a piece of cake!
I would recommend Cowgirl 110%!!!
Always the best!
