Cowgirl opened its doors in February of 1989. The restaurant was conceived and founded by Sherry Delamarter after a visit to the Cowgirl Hall of Fame Museum in Hereford, Texas. Sherry brought the images, soul, and cooking of the Western cowgirl to New York City and created a warm, Texas-friendly atmosphere, one of the first true Country Western locations in NYC. We were also the first to offer a warm welcome to buckaroos with a kids menu and trick-roping demonstrations on Hudson Street's now-bygone parking meters.

Over the years, the Cowgirl has hosted many famous CW recording artists including Dolly Parton, Reba MacIntire, Bonnie Rait, Roseanne Cash, Billy Ray and Miley Cyrus, Roger McGuinn and many others. We are proud to be a part of uniting true wild-west spirit with the independent, creative energy of NYC.

A Greenwich Village landmark with delicious, varied and ample Tex Mex food and delicious, varied and ample libations. Service is friendly and efficient and I suspect that the restaurant's Cow Girl interior can't be found anywhere else except for cowgirl country.

A great family get together spot. A place where I’m always guaranteed a lot of food for a great price! Me and my husband enjoyed the BBQ Chicken Entree, while our friend enjoyed the special holiday meatloaf! Overall a great experience for food, laughter, and family love in the city.

So freaking good. Spiked cider and eggnog are phenomenal and perfect for the holidays. The catfish po boy with tater tots is to die for. My friend and I were comfy in our booth and had the best time. The decor is so festive and inviting, and the service was 10/10, from the front host to the busser/food runner, and especially our server Chris. I literally took another friend here again the next evening because I loved it so much lol

I love Cowgirl. It's a neighborhood spot for me and my husband. Fun, lively atmosphere. Good food and drink. My only complaint this visit is that I didn't love the veggie burger. It seemed to me to be made mostly of black beans and thus was very soft. It was tasty enough, I just didn't love the consistency. I'll just order something else next time, like the portobello fajitas, which are always great.

Cowgirl is a really comfy West Village spot with lots of good dinner items. Service is always great. Went for brunch this time especially for their biscuits and gravy. Was disappointed that it was not a sausage gravy but a plain bland white gravy with a biscuit and a sausage patty on top. The sausage itself was quite bland as well. Disappointed. Love it there overall though and will go back again, just for other items. But, our search for really good Biscuits and Gravy in NYC will have to continue.

This 33-year old funky restaurant in the West Village features the best baby back ribs east of Kansas City. Huge, tender and delicious, a serving of 5 ribs, mashed potatoes and baked beans is life changing. Staff is friendly and accommodating. Truly a memorable dining experience.

The service was excellent and friendly. We were given a choice of tables which was great as we were 7 people. The food was hearty and delicious, perhaps a bit pricy. But we are from London and find New York in general rather expensive. The area is nice and we would recommend this restaurant for a bigger party.

when you’re in the city for a few days and you visit the same establishment twice, you know it’s gotta be good!! Service is friendly and fun. Food is delicious. Spicy margaritas are perfect!!!!! Would definitely of went a third time if time allowed.

Margaritas were strong but you could taste the mixer they used. Not homemade but still strong. Food was amazing. Delicious. Staff was on top of everything and we didn’t feel rushed. They sang happy birthday to my son after dinner. So happy we chose this place.

Used to dine here occasionally a few years ago when I lived in the city. Pleased to see the food is still great and lively atmosphere hasn’t changed. Still one of my favourite places in New York and I always order the pulled pork bun with fries!

My boyfriend and I took my mom out for a very belated birthday dinner. We all got the chicken fried chicken which came with mashed potatoes and a veggie blend. We all very much liked the food, but we felt it was a little bland. I added the hot sauce they provided to each table and it made the food exponentially better. Maybe it’s designed that way? I used to come here all the time as a little girl and the ambiance is almost exactly the same. Cute, rustic, just no more picnic tables the way I remember. Our server was really nice and attentive, food came out quickly. I’d definitely go back again, but I’d try something different next time. 100% recommend going to Cowgirl!

You go to Cowgirl for the experience, not the food. However, on this evening the food was good enough (and very well priced for the neighborhood). The decor is fun to look at and the music is not too loud.

Food is uneven, some things are good, some things are bland. The Chicken fried steak was tender, but the sauce was bland and so were the mashed potatoes. The onion rings were good and the Margaritas were delicious.

I had my 40th Birthday brunch at Cowgirl yesterday and I loved it !! They were super accommodating with the space for our party of 14 , and even sat us incomplete even though their policy is to seat only complete parties . We had a few children in the party and the kids menu was great with tons of options . The brunch menu has a lot of choices for entree and a good range of appetizers to share . Our server (younger lady long brown hair ) was excellent. Attentive without being pushy and also very efficient. Good stuff , will definitely be back !
