Best steak house south of LA, but better service and price of LA.
Great service and food. This place is the best steakhouse in town. Support them to remain open !!!!!!!
The interior was inviting at the outset. The music was a throwback to the old cowboy music with songs from "sons of the Pioneers" Hank Williams... Service was very good. Drinks were very good, wne list and menu are excellent. The food was delightful!
This place was amazing! We had such a wonderful time celebrating a birthday here and will definitely be back!
just absolutely love this place
Even with COVID restrictions, the staff made it a beautiful fine dining experience. Everyone was extremely friendly and we felt so comfortable the entire time. Food was delicious and the prices were fair.
Amazing all around. Food, drinks, ambiance. Stellar!
A place for steaks. Steaks come with mashed potatoes and green beans, but make sure to add a few delicious sides.
Love this place!! Our server was amazing!! We can’t wait to go back. N their old fashioned it a must!
Lovely ambiance, well prepared flavorful food and great service.
Amazing experience. From the customization on the menus with happy anniversary to the amazing service/food
My absolute favorite steakhouse in San Diego. Everything from the drinks to salad to main course and dessert was perfection.
Cowboy Star has great ambiance and even better food! The chef even sent out a small amuse bouche between courses. The steak was perfectly cooked as were the scallops and we finished off with the chocolate chip bread pudding which was out of this world.
Always a joy to come to Cowboy Star!!
Think my new drink is Aged Negroni!!
Making plans to come again in December.
Granddaughter will be home on leave from Air Force. She can’t wait to come!!
Great food & service. I've been here many times, and always love it! My favorite steakhouse in San Diego!
Service was great. The food, as always, was spot on. Wagyu skirt and filet are family favorites along with the chocolate chip bread pudding.
Great dinner and amazing steak!
Amazing food, service, atmosphere. Must go for wonderful steak and dining experience! 😁
Excellent service by Adam. We Love this restaurant & highly recommend it . Delicious food , beautiful remodel of the bar area and all Covid requirements are met for an enjoyable dining experience. 5 stars!
Great ambiance and food choices great and cooked to perfection
I was impressed the moment I walked in. The decor was perfect for a date night. Service was attentive and not overly invading. The FOOD was delicious. Get the steak of course!
Fantastic food & service.
Can’t wait to go back
Awesome all the way around!
Food and service was great. I love the bread. Will continue to come back. Rick D, San Diego.
Best steak in San Diego!
The recommendations were on point and my meal came out better then expected! They even did a nice happy birthday menu for my table! I enjoyed everything about this place
I have been to all the places in San Diego.....COWBOY STAR IS THE BEST RESTAURANT IN SAN DIEGO. Staff is top notch / welcome bite from the Chef is always the best surprise / YOU HAVE TO DO THE BREAK SERVICE / all sides are amazing / obviously the streaks are their claim to fame but all entrees have been delicious
Food was delicious like always and great service.
This place was above and beyond my expectations. When you read the name of the restaurant you aren't expecting anything out of the norm but from the moment we walked in until the moment we stepped out we were treating amazing and the service was superb. We went on a Sunday evening so less foot traffic, our server was Mark. This man knew the entire menu, gave amazing recommendations and several options. The way he described the foods made you want EVERYTHING. They work amazingly as a team and are able to swing by and help each other. The entire experience was flawless and smooth. We started with great drinks and their bread, it was soft, warm and had salt on top with whipped butter. It went well together. The amuse-bouche was what I thought was random, a mix of tomato, strawberry and pistachio. We didn't think we would like it but it went so well together We got the porterhouse medium and it was to die for. I have never understood when people say a piece of meat melts in your mouth. Well I can honestly say, now I understand. The macroni and cheese is a must. I also love that even though the steaks are la carte, cowboy star has a small portion of a side of the night. The price was steep but it was so worth it and I can't wait to go again. Very happy to have picked this place for Anniversary. That reminds me, they personalize you menus with the occasion and at the end of the night the server wrapped a menu up for us for memories. This place knows what they are doing. Counting down the days until we can go back
Our waitress was the best part! The food and ambiance was second. A bit pricey but you get what you pay for in most cases!
Celebrated Our one year anniversary dinner here. The service and food was amazing. We will be back.
Best steak I’ve ever had. If you looked the definition of hospitality up, you would find a picture of Luis under it. Truly an amazing place to eat.
Prices have jumped substantially, more than expected. I know they just came off a renovation and unexpected shutdown for a couple months but still a big jump. For example the Porterhouse dinner for two jumped from $90 to $140. Service was outstanding as usual, great ambiance, and the food is still some of my favorite in town.
Attentive staff and a quality menu and excellent execution
I went here with my wife for dinner based on reviews. I have been to my fair share of steakhouses and this was average. The food was good, 31 day dry aged ribeye special with seared scallops to add on. The steak was cooked perfectly as well as the scallops. The bread is really good too. The house cured bacon on the wedge salad was good as well.
Dining was in doors, which we were not overly concerned with, but I was a little shocked by how full the dining area actually was and the spacing was not adequate. I guess that is more of a personal choice as to what you feel comfortable with right now, but this is the closest seating I have seen anywhere so far.
I saw several reviews talking about the good service, but I won’t say I had the same experience. Dessert was not offered, which were there for a birthday (Which was told to the server) and we would have done dessert. The birthday was not acknowledged, which is not a big deal but a dessert menu could have at least been offered.
Overall the food was good, but it seems we struck out on the server. Bottomline I would not go out of my to go back.
Came here for an anniversary dinner. Made reservations & were seated right away. Restaurant is dark w/ dim lighting & noise level was moderate. Food was delicious & they offered non dairy options for me since I have an allergy. Only complaint was that the steaks were on the salty side. We had to send back one of our steaks but they were very apologetic & got us a new one right away. They even comp’d our dessert. Overall we loved it.
The service was excellent and the food even better! Absolutely amazing. I can’t wait to go back
Our table was set comfortably away from other diners. The service was fast and server was attentive. The Steak was soooo good. Well seasoned and great grill flavor.
Only complaint would be that the Knives could be sharper (-:
My go to steak house when ever I’m in SD. I love the Japanese wagyu, wish they had foie gras again :(
By far my favorite place in San Diego! First class all the way!
