Cowboy Brazilian Steakhouse - Columbia Ratings and Reviews
The place is rustic (nice way of saying old). Could benefit from remodeling, it has been the same for the past 10 years. Rioz is a better choice and is in a nicer building. The guys bringing around the meat took a while and you have to stay there for about two to three hours to get all the meat. Salad bar seems sparse.
Half the selection as Rios, more expensive, meat was either too bland, tough, fatty, dry, or way too gamey (depending on the animal), they did not bring all the meats to every table, it was a crap-shoot to see what we would be graced with while watching other meats being served on the other side of the restaurant. When the best part of the meal was the marinated mushrooms, you know you made a big mistake coming here. I will never return, Rios is much, much better.
Cowboy Brazilian Steakhouse was a total surprise. When I heard the words Salad Bar, I was skeptical. But the food was delicious! The cuts of meat that were brought to the table were fresh and perfectly done. They had chicken, lamb, pork, and several types of steak. Plus the salad bar was creative....the tabouli and the asparagus were yummy! I would definitely recommend this for a date or special occasion. It was expensive....$35 per person. But we all enjoyed it.
The last time we came here was the best. This was our second visit, and it was a little depressing. We got there and the lady who asked about our reservation was in a bad mood and made us both feel like we were an inconvenience for being there. She asked us to move to the side of the booth while she seeting a group that was behind us since they were bussing our table. When she came back she gruffly yelled "Behind you!" as she started pushing my wife out of her way so she could get back behind the booth. I was starting to get rather upset when another young lady took us to our table. We started off with the buffet. I cannot say enough good things about their cold salmon with horseradish sauce. In hindsight, I should have main-coursed on that, because; When they made their rounds with the meat they were moving fast. Which is a good thing, no doubt. Last time they were less staffed and there was more time between table visits. This visit we found ourselves turning our cards over to red much more often. However, everything seemed to be cooked well done. The flavor did not penetrate the meat and seemed topical only. The chicken sausage was the only exception. It was spicy and very tasty! Also the lamb was better flavored. It was still overly cooked and bordering dry, but not quite, and tasted good. The beed was simply poorly done this night. Which is a crying shame, because that is what we came for. We eat kosher, so I can't speak as to the pork meats, but hopefully this was a fluke, as we will be going again the next time a LivingSocial deal comes along.
Service was very slow. Only three people were serving the meats. We sat in a back corner and were passed by several times. This was our three visit and the worst we have had. It was a Friday night I expected the service to faster. Probably will be our last visit.
A fun and unique dining experience that was delicious. It is a great value and an almost overwhelming food experience. We had a family dinner for 10 and it was great fun with excellent service. Historic building and friendly staff made it even more interesting. Loved the house special sirloin the most!
I was a bit conflicted at giving this place a3 or a 4. So guys, this is no fogo. We went here with the expectation for cheap Brazilian steakhouse. It's 35.00 a person compared to the fogo or chama gaucha 50+.
First things first: salad bar. I suppose it's like most Brazilian steakhouse salad bars. I think, though not positive that I saw the salad bar can be 20$ around dinner. I would NEVER pay 20 for this places salad bar for the non meat friends out there.
Meat: so it wasn't bad. The ones we got fresh were delicious. Some that came back twice that were too rare once, were too well and crispy. The garlic beef, lamb chop and flank steak were pretty good. Keep in mind, cheaper price, means cheaper quality of meat selections.
Wine selection: it was kind of a basic selection. You could probably find all these at Publix or kroger. However, they gave generous pours for 6-12 dollars .
Parking: there is valet. However at night, it's dark as crap and hard to see this dude. We utilized street parking.
Decor: so it's place is sorta random. It looks like someone just didn't know how to incorporate whatever the normal style of cowboys Brazilian steakhouses are. They left a lot of the natural historic bits, but just painted them, and opened the ceiling to expose the piping and ventilation. The styles just looked mismatched.
Dessert: creme Burlee was pretty and delicious. Red velvet also came well decorated and was tasty.
Cons: there was a knat in the salt shaker. We had to remind the server to remove dirty plates after she came by three separate times to talk to us.
Table was ready at arrival and were seated immediately. Our waitress ( Amanda) greeted us shortly after we were seated and took care of very nicely throughout our meal. The salad bar is nice with many options to choose over. The meats started being offered as soon as we turned our cards green and they never stopped until we turned them red. The selection is very good with us seeing all of them often. All of the meat selections we tried were very good. Not disappointed with anything! We loved it all including our desserts. We do recommend and we will return!
We were celebrating our anniversary and our daughter’s birthday and it was an excellent choice. The atmosphere was very comfortable, the service, excellent and the food over the top. I’m partial to a good salad bar and yours was wonderful.
We will definitely be returning in the future. Your prices are a bit high so we won’t be coming often but we will return.
First time there. Food was fantastic. Server was great. The only comment I'd have that is constructive criticism is, there should be a better system in bringing out the food. At one point, we waited for the pineapple, and when it came out, they went away from our table, around the restaurant, then back into the kitchen without stopping to ask if we would like any. After this happened twice in a row, I asked our server if she could mention to them we would like to try the pineapple. We were told it would be about 15 minutes because they had to coat some fresh pineapples. Maybe if one guy leaves the kitchen and goes right, the next guy can leave the kitchen and go left. It was frustrating trying to wave to the guy with the pineapple as they kept skipping our table. Thanks.
Took our family there for a pre-Christmas celebration. Although they had children's pricing, I don't think our two (age 9 and 5) grand-kids ate enough to make it worthwhile for them. There was plenty of (great) food on the salad/vegetable bar. Everyone at the table enjoyed a variety of meats through the serving. One frustration I had was that even though we were right by the kitchen door, the servers always passed us by immediately and we often had to ask for and/or wait for the specific meats we wanted to sample. Sometimes the meats were inconsistent (i.e. one serving of rib-eye might be much better than the next cut that came around). Overall it was a good experience and we would recommend it for adult groups.
Had stated in the "special requirements" reservation section that we were coming in to celebrate my wife's birthday. Stated if there were any special circumstances for that (such as singing, cards, or other related shenanigans), PLEASE DO. She'd love it!
She received zilch. Not even a "Happy Birthday".
And to top it off, we had the slowest service from out server.
She was constantly sitting down at a table with another server, to where we had to flag her over or ask others for help.
The food servers, with the speared meats, did excellent and had great attitudes!
In the several times we've been to Cowboy, this was the least enjoyable. :-(
