Food is very good, their devil eggs and burgers are habit forming. The only thing that makes us very uncomfortable is their hostess/manager’s cold and unfriendly attitude, not sure she does that to everyone or only toward to minorities.
We made a reservation but we chose to Sit at the bar. It was cozy and accommodating, they were prompt with our food order, and when we chose to split the burger, they grilled each side of the bun. I love the attention to details, and the vibe is great. The service was outstanding. New favorite neighborhood restaurant.
Limited menu but the Salmon and Steak were delicious! The environment is great for catching up with old friends.
Would have been good to know there was a prix fixed instead of regular menu before booking.
Food was great but way overpriced. Very loud if you sit in the front not sure if so loud if you sit in the back
The experience was great! However the menu was extremely overpriced.
All the ingredients for success are there, but the execution undoes it all.
Our food took FOREVER to come out...a couple sat next to us and ordered maybe 45 minutes after us and received their entrees around the same time we did. Our burgers and fries came out hot and well prepared so they weren't sitting in the window, I imagine our order got lost then fired again. If that was the case it would have been nice for our server to say something to us but she was pretty aloof from the moment we sat down.
Friends Bday- a wonderful experience!
We love it and the food and the staff all make it great. We do want the Caramel cake back!
Excellent food and service
Would be a great neighborhood staple if it was easy to get in here. Not necessarily worth the hype.
Love this new neighborhood spot. Hits the notes perfectly. Marlowe burger is great but give the rib eye a try!
Food was good but not a huge selection on the menu. Service was great!
I really wanted to like this restaurant - I like their other restaurants. The food is good, the staff is nice, the decor is nice. But it is so loud that we literally could not have a conversation AND we got headaches trying to scream.
food was good but the noise level was RIDICULOUSLY loud. need to add some soft surfaces in there to counter this. sad bc we love Marlowe but would never go here again due to how uncomfortable it was. only in our early 30's but made us feel 80.
As2 elderly couples celebrating a 90th and 88 year old birthdays. We were royally treated. Complementary champagne and dessert with candles. A warm and thoroughly enjoyable experience. Many many thanks for all those extras! We will certainly be back and let all who ask that they will enjoy coming to the restaurant
Burger and polenta were good. However, it was very loud. My spouse and I had to lean across the table to have a conversation.
Food was great!! Service was off, people stopped by repeatedly to take plates away during a short period of time after we said we were still eating.
Good menu and recipes, but poor ‘execution’ and ‘ingredients’. That is, menu items looked ‘good on paper’, but generally under-delivered on taste and/or quality of ingredients.
Ambiance is mediocre. Food is mediocre. Overall, a little of a disappointment. Not sure I’d go back.
food pretty mediocre, but pleasant staff,
and it felt like it will get better
..it was a pretty quick in and out
but we felt nothing to stay for as pretty difficult to talk
and hear with any depth
I really enjoy the other Marlowe restaurants and was very excited when this location opened in our neighborhood. Unfortunately, the experience at Cow Marlowe was poor.
We ordered the Crispy Brussel sprouts that were mushy due to the massive amount of oil they were soaked with; we sent them back and the waiter did take them off our bill.
One of us ordered the steak which was fair but for $38 I would rather enjoy a higher quality steak at a steakhouse. We also ordered the polenta which was also so oily it was almost inedible but we were starving so ate as much as we could stomach.
While the restaurant was not crowded, our waiter was very inattentive and I had to ask several times for things because he never checked on us.
I hope they improve their quality of food and service because I would love to try it again and have a great regular spot to dine in our neighborhood.
The noise level in the dining room was unbearable.
Absolutely tremendously bad service. The MoD was at her best to be unhelpful. Drinks at our table took 20 minutes from the order to the receipt even after questioning our server and manager. The Marlow Burger was good, as is the case at the other locations. But, much needs to be done with the training of both the service staff and management.
The restaurant is very loud and very hard to have a comversation
Love this place, amazing foood and service. It’s now in my rotation!
Food fab, service fab, everyone incredibly pleasant and professional, but we couldn’t hear each other from across the table because of the noise! We wont be back for dinner, maybe they will start a lunch service.
Imana was our server and absolutely made our evening!
Have never written a review before, but I gotta say something. Love the outside of the restaurant, it's beautifully done. The inside is nothing special, which is disappointing since we have all come to expect so much from everything that Ken Fulk touches. The food was delicious, though my 2 friends had the burgers and were not excited about them. My burrata with toast and the polenta were great. Wait staff had a bit of an attitude, probably because they were suffering from sensory overload. The music was SO loud and there seems to be no insulation, because we could not hear each other talk, even though there were only 3 of us. Could not wait to get out of there, honestly. We wanted so badly to love it...Ken Fulk, Cow Hollow, near my house, etc, but will not be going back unless they work on the acoustics and maybe if I just went for cocktails?
Made a same day reservation, was running a bit late so called a bit before, friendly host but she still seemed to give me a bit trouble about possibly being ten minutes behind when she also stated there wasn’t a wait.
Once we arrived there were quite a few open tables both in the front and back section.
The service was good, our server was quite nice, attentive enough minus one instance early on where I was still speaking (about to order a drink) when he walked away.
All staff was attentive, clearing plates quickly and refilling water glasses often.
The food was good, as was to be expected. For two of us we ordered the Brussels sprout chips (an absolute must!) and the burrata w/ butternut squash, also very good although a bit lacking in the butternut squash area. Could have used a bit smaller crostini’s and more than 4.
Had the steak tartare with quail egg and arugula - would not order again. The quail egg was far too cooked, far too much plain, non dressed arugula and the toasted bread slices were well not really toasted bread pieces but almost stale bread-y crackers, did not seem freshly made and the appropriate size.
The actual steak tartare tasted off, the steak seemed fresh but something about the dressing/ seasoning wasn’t right. Initially I thought it had too much mustard, or perhaps capers but my dinner mate voted it tasted a bit pickle-y.
The creamy broccoli soup had good review, although the bowl was quite little looking, the mini side of ‘grilled cheese’ or wild mushroom duxelles & grilled baguette was very good and I would Vite for that to be a full (starter/side) sized item on the menu.
Planning to come back for the oysters and the burger next.
Cow Hollow location every bit as good as downtown. Whet specifically for the burger as it is my favorite in the city and it did not disappoint. Perfectly cooked, excellent quality beef and great hot fries…albeit a tad salty. Wait staff was great and I hope to go back more often and try other items on the menu.
The familiar layout of East-Side-West is still noticeable. New décor is decent; lots of farmhouse era designs -- including the bathrooms. Service was spotty. For a new restaurant, willing to give most a pass. However, once a restaurant group has many popular hotspots in town, one would hope that their newest addition would hold similar standards. Food was overly salted and too familiar to their other ventures.
We really enjoyed our Christmas Eve dinner at Cow Marlowe. Food and service was great.
Was really excited for this to open in the neighborhood. The burger is much better at Marlowe. Brussels were disappointing.
While I'm happy that this Marlowe is much closer to my house than the original, the Cow version is way too loud, and service was a bit eager (e.g. trying to take away our wine glasses when we had several sips left). The food was delicious as always, but I prefer the original.
Much too noisy
We enjoyed our group holiday dinner. The staff was attentive, well executed service, and outstanding food. The burger is phenomenal and the desserts are another highlight! This was our second experience, highly recommend!
I was disappointed that we were seated by the swinging kitchen door for my 5:30pm reservation. We were the first couple in the back dining area of the restaurant and were confused why we had to sit there. I made a reservation two weeks prior and this was the only time they could seat us besides a 9:30pm slot. I told the hostess we would sit anywhere else (at any of the other 10 plus tables) and she seemed surprised. She was thankfully able to move us. I also noticed that she tried to sit the next couple in that same spot by the kitchen and they also asked to move their seat. It seemed unnecessary and rude that they would put us in the worst seat when ever other seat was open.
Beautiful space, really great servers, and every item we had was really good! Large portions so worth considering splitting the mains with someone.
