Covino is a small owner-run wine bar & restaurant in the heart of Chester. We serve daily-changing menu of seasonally inspired small plates, guided by the quality and provenance of ingredients, with a real focus on simplicity and flavour. This is served alongside an extensive, yet thoughtfully chosen array of over 130 different wines from around the world, ranging from the classics, all the way through to the more left field.

Bryan Webb as a guest chef was amazing! We had a wonderful experience tasting a number of delicious dishes from English asparagus, langousties to scallops, finishing with a delightful cherry soup. Wines were expertly recommended by the lovely Becky. One of our best meals for a while!

We had an excellent lunch at Covino, the selection of small dishes was wide ranging and delicious, with lots of options on the specials board too. The scallops, plaice goujons and asparagus were all lovely. We had advice on the wines by the glass all of which we enjoyed. We would definitely recommend it and love to come back again

A truly fantastic evening. We had come to experience the legendary cuisine of Bryan Webb one more time, and he was on superb form as always. Everything was delicious - our two most memorable courses were the tagliatelle with broad beans, pancetta and mustard, and the amazing wild bass with laverbread beurre blanc; but how really to pick a favourite? The wine selection was excellent too, the service first rate and friendly. All in all a wonderful evening. Thank you!

We went on a Thursday evening at 5:30 prior to a show at the Storyhouse. It was our first time. We ordered the butter beans and sourdough bread, we could have just eaten that for the night! It was simple and simply delicious. The bread was great (we buy the sourdough from The Bear Bakery all the time) and we ordered more to sop up all the lovely flavors! We also ordered asparagus which we=as very nice and finally the fish and lamb. The food was delicious but beware the portions are "lite". The service was attentive without hovering (although we were the first ones there there were only 4 others that came later and sat at the bar. They only have 4 tables and bar seating. As a "wine bar" we were not impressed with their wine list on the menu, not sure if there is a separate wine list but we were not offered one. kWe were impressed with their prices, they add an optional 12% service charge and for the 2 of us it was £130. That's a bit steep, we might come back for lunch but although the food and service is nice, the portions are small and there are other options.

No bread for the day yet many plates that required it like terrine, pepper and anchovies. Also even though I've made a reservation I was sat at on a low stool towards the shop window.
