New Orleans is renowned for its French cuisine, and you won’t have to leave the confines of The Eliza Jane to enjoy delicious fare within a French bistro.
Couvant, the hotel’s on-site restaurant, specializes in classic French cooking with a modern, whimsical twist. Entrees pay homage to French history and regional specialties. Never pretentious, the dishes and service at Couvant are purposefully simple and social.

It was sooooo amazing. We had the restaurant week menu and it we were not let down. Our first experience with Couvant but will not be the last.
Our waiter was fantastic! Our food was delicious! Eliza Jane may be the coolest hotel in NOLA. It is a MUST try. You will love it. Valet pkg availability too. Will definitely go back!
took wife for lunch and enjoyed Chef Michael's appetizers and especially the luncheon entree of Skate---extremely tender. our waiter, Justin, was attentive and knowledgeable. A very nice afternoon.
interesting location. went during Restaurant week and they were not crowded. Our server was great!! very informative about the menu. Food was very good but a bit pricey. Atmosphere was awesome !! many little knooks to perhaps sit and have a drink. Would definitely go back with a group of friends to socialize!!
TLDR: mouse! The experience ended with a bill being handed to us for $42 dollars - drinks and a barely touched cheese plate- after we spotted a mouse run right through the restaurant. We waited over 15 minutes from placing our drink order to receiving a horrible cocktail and beer. It was disappointing all around.
We went for our 7th anniversary, and it wasn’t busy due to Decadence pulling the crowds to the Quarter. Elliott treated our party of 4 with extraordinary service. The tar tar was melt in your mouth incredible, the murder point oysters were on point, and the foie gras was the best I’ve had since Paris. We also enjoyed the escargot, the mussels and the gulf fish. The two bottles of wine we had (Chablis and Bordeaux Blanc) were also good. It’s an expensive meal but well worth the price.
Service was acceptable, not memorable. Wine was slightly overpriced & wine list was smallish. Food was very good, not perfect. Skate was nice & fresh & cooked perfectly, but the brown butter sauce was a bit heavy for it. Tangine was very tasty, but would have benefited from a little extra additional veg. Besides ONLY carrots. Dessert was solid. We do like this place & will return.
Beyond exceptional- once again.
Excellent dining experience service excellent friendly knowledgeable regarding menu and preparation
The service, food and ambiance were outstanding. The bartender was hilarious and Management seemed very aware of everything. My wife and I really enjoyed our meal ( she had fillet and I had scallop special). We have already told many friends that this is a must try restaurant!!
Everyone was very accommodating the food was great, the noise level was perfect to where you could actually converse. The veal chop was impeccable..
beautiful modern space; approachable but classically French menu; cute cocktails with some fresh scrubs; hostess and bartender were VERY colorful and friendly!! I'd come back just for them!; fantastic clean service and presentation; starters were the standout course with tartar and Lyonnaise that rivaled those at starred restaurants; coffee service was the only thing that was a bit lacking; overall a fabulous experience in a city of fierce French competition
Beautiful, stylish classic French restaurant in the CBD Excellent service. Fantastic menu.
If you love classic French cuisine, this is your restaurant.
We decided to try somewhere we did not have on any of our “lists” as it is coolinary. First the we really liked the restaurant, this was unexpected as we normally give hotel restaurants a lower mark. But we liked this place. Our server was amazing. She made our meal just that more special. Knowledgeable, present, perfect timing, and understood the chef and the menu at a high level. I had the steak tartare to start, done in a classic style. Perfectly executed. My main course was the confit de cuissue de canard. Again a classic preparation executed properly. I had the profiteroles to finish. The meal was excellent. The service was over the top. I was surprised to tell the truth. I recommend you try it and see what you think. Eat. Be happy.
Underwhelmed. My friend had the duck entrée and it was inedible; VERY DRY. My Tajine entrée was fine, however, I don't need to go back to get it again. The restaurant was beautiful, as was the hotel, though both were empty.
Everything was lovely, except the service. The poor kid was a fish out of water. I'd give it another go, but hope to sit in someone else's area.
We had brunch and ordered the ham & cheese croissant to start and it was everything I hoped it would be and I could have eaten three more. We rounded out the meal with Pain Perdu and The Royale. Highly recommend all of it.
Loved the sangria. Vichyssoise was a little thin, but otherwise good. Steak tartar was excellent
There are so many dining options in NO this one sound not figure in my top ten. The valet parking service is incompetent, disgraceful and shameful.
Best veal chop ever. Very good service and beautiful space. Will absolutely be dining at Couvant again.
This was my second visit and this time I had lunch...it was great; my new favorite place to eat...the atmosphere is great, and is enhanced by the funky coolness of the hotel in which it is lodged. I had the Lyonnais salad, which was new to me. My wife had quiche which had the consistency of meringue and was feather light. This is NOLA dining sophistication at its finest.
It’s a wonderful little french restaurant in a great hotel. While everything we had was great, their pastries were particularly delicious.
Samantha was a great waitress. She went the extra mile to see if I could get muscles even though it wasn't included on the brunch menu. The tea was awesome. It came in the cutest kettle with a sturdy mug. Very high quality service and products.
Wonderful service great food please check it out the hotel is great
One of the best restaurants in New Orleans, a hidden gem.
Dinner before The Rolling Stones concert. A great restaurant. Attractive decor (the outside patio would be beautiful on days when Barry is not around!). The food was fresh and very flavorful. The redfish was delicious, moist and beautifully cooked with a sauce that complemented it perfectly. The service was attentive and the server knowledgeable about the food. Overall a great experience. We will certainly be back.
Food was excellent, service impeccable, everyone was as friendly and nice as could be. In making reservation, we noted this was a birthday celebration, and they did not ignore that fact once we were there, which made a special occasion all the more so. I would go back here in a heartbeat, again and again. Wonderful!
The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. The service was impeccable. Although the lamb was very slightly overcooked, everything else was fabulous. The escargot was to die for. Prices appropriate. The atmosphere was charming yet variable meaning you could make it cozy and romantic or a larger group.
Our new favorite restaurant in NOLA; food is French and fabulous, our server Ryan was as knowledgeable and gracious as any I’ve ever had in town... the restaurant is incorporated inside the hotel and the hotel is unbelievably cool...go early and get a drink in the lobby bar or the adjacent lounge. This place rocks in a laid back, comfortable sort of way...a hidden gem in a city replete with great restaurants...
Had a wonderful late lunch here. The food was all perfect in its simplicity. The banana passion fruit daiquiri was excellent as well. Can’t wait to return for dinner!
Holiday meal so we re eating out every day.
Excellent service. Restaurant was very quiet so lacked some ambience otherwise nice decor and great food.
Food was great! Service was a tad slow for a slow workday lunch.
This restaurant is excellent! Its focus appears to be classic French cuisine. The chef that opened it has moved on but the food remains as good as or better. I have visited this restaurant at list five times. I have taken New Orleans locals. Everyone has sung its praises.
Amazing food in a chic modern, but cozy setting! Have been many times and will continue to frequent this beautifully designed restaurant with great food.
My wife asked to celebrate her birthday with Sunday Brunch at Couvant. We had dined there a few times, liked it and wanted to see what their new Chef had changed, so I made reservations with Open Table. When we arrived, we were seated at a quiet two-top booth. Our server arrived quickly, introduced himself and warmly welcomed us to Couvant. As we looked over the menu selections, the manager came to our table, introduced himself and said he was happy we came to Couvant to celebrate a special day. He asked if we would be having any alcohol, and we replied that we would. He smiled and said he would be back in a moment. Our server returned to our table after a few minutes, asked if we had any questions about the menu selections, which we didn't, and took our orders. My wife selected Quiche Lorraine served with a side salad of fresh mixed greens with thinly sliced radishes and a champagne vinagrette, and I selected their Scrambled Eggs with Smoked Salmon and Lemon with the same side salad that came with my wife's order and a side order of Sliced Avocado. A moment later, the manager returned to our table with two flutes of a sparkling wine, which he served us, with compliments from Couvant, for our special occasion. The sparkling wine was a nicely chilled blanc de blanc style and made a wonderful aperitif while our food was being prepared. Soon our orders arrived and were served to us. Both orders were well prepared, plated attractively, still hot, light and delicious. A short time later, the manager came to our table and asked if everything was satisfactory. I thanked him and replied, if the background music playing was Parisian accordion, rather than soft jazz, and I had a St-Germain Cocktail by my hand, I could easily imagine we were enjoying a delicious brunch in a wonderful Parisian brasserie. The manager said he couldn't produce the accordion music, but I would have a St-Germain Cocktail by my hand in a moment. It was a memorable birthday brunch for my wife.
Everything we had was delicious! Can’t wait to go back.
Excellent meal with quality service. Would done there again and would recommend to others.
As a local New Orleanian, it felt very touristy. Based on the drink prices I felt like this was a place for tourists, not locals. My husband ordered a vodka on the rocks, and they asked him if he wanted a single or double. Galatoire's, Antoines, Arnauds and most other restaurants in New Orleans would not offer that. Such a rip off. A double was the size of a single at most other restaurants for twice the price.
This place was amazing! The ail de ray (skate) was so delicious as well as the foie gras and need tartare . The honey lavender lemon custard and the banana daiquiri were delightful. And the service was amazing. Highly recommended :)
I did not enjoy the skate fish. They should let customers know what they are ordering and how it is served. Everything else was great. Loved the escargot!
Lovely. We will now be regulars!
