Great food, very nice service, and the setting was really cozy - would definitely go back and recommend.

If you like quaint, old country this is it. Beautiful restoration of an old farm house. Manager was so friendly made us feel welcome and right at home. Waitress was just the right balance of attentiveness but noninvasive. And great food. Was totally pleased with our experience. Would highly recommend.

We love the countryman's pleasure. The few times we have been we get great service and the meals are great for a good value

I'm vegan so there were no choices of food. The chef did make something for me but wasn't anything to write home about. The noise level was like a stadium almost. Even though there were few people there, they let their kids scream and yell and another table was loud.

Our food was delicious. The service was great and the environment was relaxing.

We were greeted at the door by the manager who was friendly and helpful. The waitress was knowledgeable about the food and able to answer questions we had being new to German food. The manager gave us a complimentary dessert to take home to commemorate our first meal with them.

Amazing!!! My friend and I were visiting from Boston and we stopped in for a lovely dinner. We were greeted so warmly, such friendly, kind people. And the food. Oh my goodness. It was incredible. My friend just had her third meal of leftovers :) Our compliments to the staff and the chef!!! We are thankful that they are open and grateful for their hospitality and out of this world food. Make sure you arrive hungry!!!

Most of the dishes tasted like they had too much sugar. Most notably the bread, which didn’t taste German at all, but even the sauerkraut.

Food was awful. Beautiful building. Pleasant waitress. Strong cocktails. Sour Bratten awful.

Having been to Austria and thoroughly enjoyed the food, I was hoping for something far better than what I got. Perhaps Hans was a good chef, but his replacement does not know how to cook Austrian food.

the restaurant was lovely, great ambiance. The potato pancakes were a little heavy but tasty. The salad was great! My chicken cordon bleu was delicious but my husband ordered sauerbraten which he loves and was disappointed since was tough. However, the restaurant was gracious to take half off the price of his entree.

Second time going in a short time.. waitress was pleasant, hostess was funny.
Cocktail drink was cool, and the meal was very enjoyable on a cold and snowy night. Two fireplaces kept it warm.

Went here for the first time with my family, and it was fantastic! Staff were awesome, and the food was delicious!!! Such a cute space and homey! Definitely will be returning!

Very good food! We enjoyed items from the 3-For-$30 prix fixe menu. Worth the trip down the mountain.

Quaint and quiet setting

Generous portions and very good service. However, we missed the greens salad and garlic mashed potatoes that used to be included with dinner and the appetizer of stuffed mushrooms.

Our party of 8 was greeted warmly and we enjoyed professional and attentive service throughout the evening. We were celebrating a birthday and our table was decorated with a birthday theme, and we were informed that the birthday guests dinner would be "on the house!". Such special touches! Our meals were very good, the German chocolate cake amazing. Please support this new business.

Long our favorite restaurant it changed hands in the last couple of years and has experienced growing pains but this visit was a pleasant experience and things appear to now be going in the right direction. Food was very good and the menu offered some of the dishes that we loved in the past along with new options- I'm still missing the fiddlehead toast........ We now look forward to continued visits.

This was our first visit to Countrymans Pleasure. It will definitely not be our last. We went there to celebrate a birthday. We were greeted very warmly upon arrival. When shown to our table, it was decorated in a birthday theme. That was quite a nice surprise! The food was exceptional, as was the service. One of our dinners was comped because of the birthday celebration. Yet another reason we had a great dining experience. Great ambiance. Great service. Great food. We will definitely return. Have already recommended the restaurant to some friends.

Brunch was great!! The manager toured us the restaurant, awesome place!! We ordered a chicken Schnitzel to go for dinner, it was amazing!

I went with friends. Our waitress was very nice and attentive. Of the 4 meals ordered 1 was described as bad, 1 wasOK, 1 had tough meat and 1 was very good. I really wanted to like it but I guess I wouldn't hurry back.

We had friends visiting who had lived in Germany for 2 years so we were excited to find the Countryman's Pleasure. It is a hidden treasure. We have lived in the area for 2 years and had never heard of them! Handicapped accessible (our friend has trouble walking) and a very pleasant staff. Old world charm. Diverse main menu and they had recently added a pub menu which we could order off of. The pub looks to be a fun place to hang out and the dining area is spacious although a bit on the darker side. We had veal schnitzel - which was light in tasty batter, topped with crabmeat and soo delcious. Others had the Sourbraten, which was also tasty. The dishes come with sides and are plentiful. A great experience.

I have been here several times. We always enjoy the ambiance and the food is great. Never crowded and is always fairly quiet.Dsfi intel recommend for an Old World experience in Mendon Vermont!

It took quite a while to get our food. That time was close to 1.5 hours. No one came to our table to say anything or just check in either. Great food but very untimely service.

Countryman's Pleasure overall is a wonderful restaurant. Ambiance is quiet, casual good for anything from a date night to a larger family dinner. It is an older house with various rooms, quite quaint and a bit rustic. If you get seated on the porch it is more cozy but also a bit cold on a cold night. Food is very good quality, prepared well - overall a mid-upscale meal and fairly matches the price you pay. Wine list is good with a decent selection of wines by the glass. Menu is a bit on the limited side but that keeps the meal options focused and there is always a pasta or other specials. On this visit we had the Duck, Salmon and Chicken Cordon Blue. The Duck (a single breast) was excellent (as was the beet salad special), prepared correctly (medium rare) with a blueberry compote and a side of hericort verts and fingerling potatoes which were perfect. All very tasty and satisfying. My aunt had the Salmon which she said was very good. Although the chicken was very good, it along with the mashed potatoes came to the table somewhat luke warm. They re-prepared the chicken from scratch and it was fine. Service was great (although it is typically a little slow here), everything came out quickly including drinks. Bread service was nothing special as the biscuit like bread were a little dry and overdone on the bottom. Again, overall the food is very good and that is why we won't hesitate to come back again.

Despite calling ahead two times to confirm our reservation, when we arrived, we were told that they could not accommodate us. No apologies no trying to make it work. Worst customer service I have ever seen.

Waited one and a one half hours for food to arrive on Valentine's Day.

Valentines dates can’t be the excuse for our poor service because we arrived at 5:15 for a 5:30 reservation and were the second party to be seated. The staff seemed frantic from the start. Timing between courses was somewhere between haphazard and rude. When two of our entrees arrived luke warm and our requests for refills for water went unanswered, we were anxious to get the check and look to eat desert elsewhere. We were intrigued by the menu, were excited for our evening, and hoping for return trips to try other dishes. Alas, we won’t be risking a return trip.

Very good but very very slow service!

Food and service were good although onion soup was rather salty It's no longer serving mainly German food if that's what you wanted bot our Chicken Cordon Bleu and Salmon with dill sauce were very good. The restaurant was not very crowded, especially for a Saturday night, so the noise level was low. We would try it again although it seemed a bit pricey.
