Very pleasant setting with good food and service. Sunday jazz band is excellent.
The food was mixed. The Caesar salad dressing tasted like it was out of a bottle. The posole was good, however. Beautiful view from the restaurant, but the temperature was cold inside--too much A/C. I figured it was turned up so high to keep the smoke out. I didn't like having to walk through the tobacco smoke of the casino to reach the restaurant. Have they thought of a tobacco-free casino?
PRIME RIB. So good. We went for restaurant week and everyone was happy with their choices. Crab-tini salad, prime rib, shrimp and risotto, hot chocolate creme brulee. The stars were the prime rib and the brulee. Would absolutely go back, especially for the happy hour. And our one year old loved the mac n cheese!
Rude service, discontinued restaurant week service in spite of it being during restaurant week and they were advertised to participate
Disappointed. Just ok at best, food quality seems to be declining, unfortunately.
First time visit. We went for Santa Fe restaurant week and it was wonderful. The special was an appetizer, a main entree, and dessert for $35. We both had the prime rib and it was incredible. We definitely want to go back and try other menu items.
Another wonderful meal with incredible service. Prime rib was cooked to perfection with four of us requesting different temperatures. Perfect meal, very responsive server. Ambience was terrific and a nice sound coming from the bar area with live entertainment. Very busy place, but noise levels were fine and restaurant was exceptionally clean. All of the staff were very pleasant and accommodating. Great place.
The food is excellent and the presentation is 5 stat worthy.
The crab on Fridays is always good and the service is wonderful and prompt. During the warm season, the patio offers breathtaking views of the mountains. Highly recommended.
Food and service I ALWAYS amazing! We also really love the live music each night! This is a hidden hem of a restaurant!
After visiting Cottonwood Kitchen twice, I feel compelled to give this review. The first visit was on the spur of the moment, arriving just after six pm on a Thursday. We had heard the the crab cakes were pretty good. Unfortunately the restaurant was full, the wait was 45 min-1hr, so we decided to sit at the bar. There was good live music playing. and the bartender was attentive. We had missed the "Social Hour", with discounts until 6PM. They were out of Crab Cakes, so we had nachos, which were fair. We came back a week later (with a reservation) to try the Crab Leg special, which sounded good from the ads. We did get the Social Hour prices on the two drinks and the avocado salad. The salad was very strange looking like it had been stuffed into a tin can to create a decorative form, which looked exactly like a tin can, not very appetizing. It was soggy and soaked in a creamy dressing. The crab legs were not King Crab, so fairly small legs and difficult to shell, but they were tasty, served only with a rice pilaf. I tried the short ribs which were very fatty, served with what tasted like canned gravy and previously frozen chewy potatoes. The asparagus was actually fairly good. We ordered the suggested housemade flan for dessert which was mediocre and quite stiff in texture. Even with discounted items, our bill was still over $80 (for two of us) plus tip. Although the decor of the restaurant was nice, it was still noisy and the food was just not up to the prices charged. Not worth the trip through the noisy, smokey casino.
Very busy place on New Year’s Day evening. Table was ready, the restaurant was very presentable, even though they were very busy. The food was absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection. We all had the prime rib. Presentation was beautiful, food nice and warm, and the flavor was scrumptious. Service was great and server very personable and attentive. Great place for any occasion.
Seriously the best prime rib in the state! We have been there numerous times and EVERY server has been wonderful. The musicians they bring in are awesome. We come from out of town to this place almost weekly and LOVE it!
Sorry, I know they tried, but the Thanksgiving dinner was not good at all. Maybe a la carts food there is better? It is also difficult to enjoy dining when the restaurant smells like cigarette smoke.
A early dinner for 2.
We ordered the Friday crab legs special and salmon entree. We made reservations, as the place fills up fast the service is good and friendly waitstaff. Nightly music was enjoyable and not to loud so we were able to carry on a conversation without yelling.
It was an overall nice evening would reccomend to others.
Holy Happy Hour Batman!!!
So much FUN!
If you haven’t been to happy hour at Tesuque Casino..GO!
Great 1/2 price food and drinks from 4:00-6:00.
The Casino is very nicely decorated in contemporary decor. Cigarette smoke? You may walk past someone gambling and smoking, BUT, the restaurant and bar are without a trace. Tesuque has installed a very effective smoke filtration and removal system..If you are completely repulsed by the slightest hint of cigarette smoke, maybe you should go eat in a hospital...this place is fun.
Great guitar player in the bar...they have dancing as well.
We had a group show up for a friend’s birthday at the bar near the Cottonwood Kitchen. The Tesuque Casino was a great choice! Their staff was over-the-top terrific!!! They helped us out with the birthday “surprise” and serviced our large group with amazing skill. Maria ( Awesome server!) kept our food and drink orders separated and correct. Steven ( Manager supreme!) helped us out by getting a table set for 11, so we could eat dinner and snacks without balancing them in our laps. Really excellent experience!
Absolutely WONDERFUL food! We have always had amazing servers and the food has been perfect every time! The music they bring in has never disappointed. We come frequently from out of town just for dinner!
30th Wedding Anniversary
This place is awesome, friendly staff always. A nice place to enjoy and visit with friends and family.
Excellent food. Excellent value. Clean, friendly, efficient. We celebrated our birthdays and had a great time. Did well at Blackjack too.
Hey William, thank you for taking the time to tell us about your experience! I will share your notes with the team. Looking forward to seeing you again soon!
The live music was so loud in the dining area we could not hold a conversation with our friends. My wife and I had the chicken dish and it was extremely dry. Neither of us finished it. Our friends had the shrimp salad and complained that the shrimp was like rubber and to expensive. Not enough menu choices.
The prime rib is delicious, however the ambiance is terrible in the casino. The casino noise permeates the restaurant. The view of the mountains is beautiful. The Meat Candy appetizer, pork belly is delicious also.
I think the menu is well thought out and the food was very good. The meat candy is outstanding. The service is still a little wonky, but our server was very pleasant, and I think the kinks will work out with time.
Excellent waitress! Great shrimp cocktail- huge shrimp. Fantastic Prime Rib.
Love this bar and restaurant. Good rib eyes w two sides. Appetizers are great. The cob salad very good too. Views from main seating area are beautiful. Happy hours are well attended. Great bartenders, friendly, good drinks, timely.
We had lunch & dinner here two different days. Lunch they have very good salads however we asked for bread with the salad & they brought us bread without informing us that they charge $5.00 for bread. The only place in town that does that.
Dinner we had their prime rib, excellent & our server, Phyllis, was OUTSTANDING. Ask for her when you eat there.
My wife and I had eggs benedict with chili and I would not recommend it to anyone! My Bloody Mary came with salami in it. WTF!
Making a reservation really helped. We even got thanked by the staff for placing the reservation. The night was perfect. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because I ordered my prime rib medium and got it overcooked. I didn't complain because we had a concert we were in a hurry for. Would definitely go back.
Used the half off coupons from our players club cards. 14oz plate of wonder, cooked to perfection. Restaurant clean and inviting. Wednesday are half off whatever is served at the bar from 3-6PM. Great value. Our server, Phyllis could not have been any better. Great smile, very knowledgeable on the menu and any specials. Very personable. Truly a great representative of Tusuque. It was just a great evening with our friends who had not been there before. Really looking forward to our return trip. This is a great value for the money and the trip there. As soon as you approach the front doors. You will be greeted by a number of smiling, friendly associates who will have the doors open and also provide that warm Santa Fe welcome. They truly care about their guests.
Our waitress recommended the Sea Bass and it was excellent. We ate on the patio on a beautiful night and watched a beautiful sunset as we ate.
The service and the views were very good. The food was passable.
One of the best restaurants in Santa Fe & definitely the best view!👍🏻👍🏻🎯🎰
This is an extremely casual restaurant at the back of Tesuque casino. What a shame it is not on an upper level that takes advantage of the beautiful mountain views that surround this casino. The food was fine, not memorable, but the service by Lisa was wonderful and efficient . It is too bad the live music is so close by and so loud that it is impossible to carry on a conversation.
Hi Sfediner! Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. Yes, the views are magnificent! We are planning to have a rooftop lounge/bar above our hotel (soon to come)! We will share your review with Lisa...and take note of music volume. Cheers!
Menu very ordinary and limited, especially for vegetarians like myself.
Hi Susan, We appreciate you taking time to give your thoughts. We will be rolling out a new Fall menu soon, and will work on incorporating some more vegetarian options! We hope that you will come back and try us again. Thanks you again for your feedback.
This was our 3rd dinner at Cottonwood. While the food is quite good, and the promotional pricing for prime rib and drinks are great, the service is abysmal. Lack of attention to water refills, plate clearing, cocktail glass clearing, etc.
But the worst is the total inability of the server to time the meal. All 3 times we have been there, they have brought out the entrees before we are even 75% done with our salads and appetizers. I am now convinced that their instruction to their service staff is to rush people through dinner and get them back out in the casino! To their credit, we were offered complimentary desserts for the service issue, but we had already made plans to do ice cream sundaes at home!
Our next time we are there, I will refuse to place my entree order until I am finished with the appetizers...
One other note: The music is really loud, so request a table far from band if you care to hear your tablemate's conversation!
Thank you for taking the time to give us this feedback. It is disappointing that we have missed the mark on more than one occasion. We understanding how important timing is while dining, and we apologize for not getting it right! Your feedback is valuable, and we will use your review as a tool to improve our service and communication. We hope you will give us an opportunity to make this right and talk further about your experience. cottonwoodkitchen@icloud 505-955-0242
I love the Chilean Sea Bass over wild rice and asparagus. At only $21.00, it is a fantastic deal! The prime rib is the best we have ever had anywhere. We love the artichoke appetizer too. All the staff, from bussers to wait staff and the kitchen staff, are always so friendly and welcoming. My glass of tea never got less than half full when another was on the way. All in all, the food is fantastic and the service is excellent.
Good food only downside is walking thru a Smokey casino.
Hi Cathy, Thank you for the 4 stars, and taking the time to provide your feedback! We look forward to seeing you again soon!
Excellent food and fun environment. My guests loved it.
Sea bass prepared perfectly! Prompt and pleasant service.
The restaurant is pretty enough with big windows that look out onto the mountains.
The menu has one of everything, more or less. However the music is really loud to try and cover up the even louder sounds of slot machines behind you. This makes it difficult to have a comfortable meal.
No bread was served. The portions are adequate but not large. The caesar salad is half romaine and half kale. Room temp water is served n a large bottle.
This would only be a place to dine if you were going for the gambling and wanted a quick meal.
