Plenty of food (took doggie bag home). Well cooked, variety of food and cocktails, likely to visit again.
Great night out! Amazing staff.
I have been to the one in Camden as well and I can definitely say that I love love love Cottons. If you want to go out for good food and drinks than head over to any of the Cottons restaurants. It's a guarantee that you will get the best food and ambiance.
Thought it would be a nice place for my birthday, food took about 35 minutes to arrive, chicken was dry, no one came to check how our meal was, waitress was very slow.
Unfortunately would not recommend this branch
I did enjoy siting in at the cottons Rhumshack however I did find the waiting staff a bit too pushy and persistent for orders although I had mentioned on a few occasions that I would order when we were ready as we had drinks through the night .
Service was very slow. Only had one waiter who was also managing the door and taking bill payments
Great cocktails at happy hour and food was delicious. Good atmosphere, not too busy for a Friday night but a good buzz. Perfect place for food and pre-drinks before a night out in Shoreditch.
The food was great, absolutely loved the curried mutton, wings and jerk ribs (although a little more meat on the ribs would have been nice). The cocktails are nice but very strong so bear that in mind. I’d definitely go again, however it’s very loud in the restaurant and service could have been better.
We arrived 5 to 10 minutes late for our reservation but were welcomed and offered a choice of tables in 3 different locations in the restaurant. Our waitress was very good and attentive and also offered good advice on the menu to ensure that we did not order too much.
The barman was very good and took time to discuss with us our favorite rums and recommended something similar when it was found that they had run out of our favorite Foursquare Rum. His three similar recommendations were excellent and we settled on the Bumbu spicy rum.
We ordered the salt fish fritters and Caribbean fish coujons as starters, the salt fish could have been warmer but the Caribbean fish arrived piping hot. We then had the Mixed meat platter for two which arrived piping hot and was both very tasty and extremely plentiful. The jerk pork ribs and jerk lamb were excellent and moist and the jerk chicken was excellent, the plantain was as it should be juicy and moist. We could not finish it all and were offered a take away box by our waitress who was also very engaging.
The ambiance was very good as the music being played was both topical and added to the atmosphere, as the restaurant filled up, they turned the music down which enabled conversation and a good vibe. Overall we had a great time and enjoyed the whole experience. In terms of value for money it was excellent. We shall definitely be revisiting Cottons Rhum Shack in the near future and I will certainly be recommending it to my circle of friends. Thank you to all the staff at Cottons who contributed to us having a very enjoyable Thursday night dinner date.
Great food but had to wait an hour for our food to come so that was disappointing and not great from a service point of view. Also only one waitress during the lunch rush 12-2.30 and the restaurant was full. Several take away orders fulfilled and distributed before table orders which was frustrating. Fantastic mocktails - worth the price but a bit prohibitive to order more than 1 per person.
Open table allowed me to book at table at 11pm two people Saturday night. We arrived at 10.50pm and the hostess was rude AF. She refused entry and said sorry kitchen is closed. How can either open table allow a booking to the resto and accept and send confirmation and the restaurant denies it even when we had a confirmation. Useless. Never again
Warm welcome, friendly service. Great food and drinks! The ribs are incredible! Would definitely recommend.
Great food on a Sunday evening. Quiet ambience. The service was friendly and the happy hour cocktails were lovely! We couldnt finish the jerk platter as we was soo full up, so we took the rest home!
Great food, delicious cocktails, good price - the only complaint? Too loud!
Hearty tasty food. Curries spicy, chicken n ribs moist and nicely charred. Good.
Once we worked out how to open the door... (might be something to fix as we witnessed 2 people try and fail, so walked away). The staff were very welcoming and showed us to our table promptly, enough time was given to have a good look at the menu and decide what we wanted, the cocktails although delicious were on the small side. (but that might just be us being used to larger glasses elsewhere). We had the pork ribs and spring rolls to share for starters, both were flavoursome, the ribs fell off the bone and were full of flavour. We all decided to have the curry mutton, which was mouthwateringly delicious and we could all have eaten extra helpings. A big thumbs up all round for an authentic tasting dish that was well presented. For dessert we decided on the cheesecake which was nice enough but lacking in mango flavour, which was quite disappointing...
Only downside of the evening was the fact it seemed Rhianna was on constant repeat, a little more mixing of the music and it would've have been a perfect evening.
Overall we had a great time, and will happily make the journey from South London again bringing more friends with us.
Great food and cocktails. Good service. Would be better for us if they had a kids menu as advertised on Cottons website.
The food was tasty and the service good. They have many appealing dishes and I can say that everything we tried was nice.
The cocktails were good too.
The only downside to this place is the atmosphere as the place is getting really loud around dinner time (more like a pub)
Food was absolutely spot on
Have been here a few times, always love the food and cocktails. This time however the service was so slow. We ordered a round of cocktails which took around 30 minutes to arrive and we had to remind the bar twice. We were seated and no one came to take a drinks order or even give us water for about 25 mins. We spent a lot of time waiting. Everything else was great apart from that
It was very windy outside yet they kept leaving the door open. Other than that it was a great experience, great cocktails and well seasoned food
Best mutton curry. Oh, my! Wish we could have taken it back to the States.
Third visit, nice atmosphere, friendly staff and excellent food! The Jerk chicken is a must!
Excellent ! The food is great, the jerk chicken is .. wow ! I really enjoyed the food.
The food was great
I took my partner and baby for father’s Day meal
But the service was very slow. Every customer was served before us even though we came in before. I reserved a table for 2 with space for a baby buggy. When we got there, they wasn’t ready and had us wait 15 minutes extra even though we booked a table and was on time. It took over 40 mins+ to get our food which in the end was lovely, but by then the baby was restless and we couldn’t eat smoothly. To be fair I think they were under staffed but not one of the waitresses apologied for the delay even though we approached them twice in regards to how long we’d be waiting for food. We wasn’t happy with the service. But great food.
Attended Cottons on a Friday night in June. There was Caribbean music playing that was fantastic. The food was nice. Cocktails tasted fantastic. I would visit again.
Great food great service
I walked in and for 5 minutes wasn't greeted or acknowledged. after standing for 10 minutes and not given a table or any sort of acknowledgement I left.
Cottons always delivers with its authentic calypso food. The jerk salmon was delicious although the service was a little slow as they had only two people working on the night. Would recommend.
Service was not great-very rushed and didn't feel the young girl (serving on Saturday night) really gave a toss...
Service was bad food came out wrong and was cold my jerk chicken . I should not of paid service charge it was my freinds birthday and he was not happy too. I used to go cottons 15 years ago in camdem it was the best place to eat soul food then things have changed .
Good vibes & good food! The staff where friendly and attentive, warm and welcoming. The food was delicious and so were the cocktails! We will definitely recommend Cottons
Excellent food with great service. Will definitely visit again
Staff was unfriendly and not trained well on the menu and the food was ok I have had better Caribbean food for much cheaper
Myself and a friend had dinner at Cottons on Friday evening. The service was good, the food and drink very nice. Music in the background which got louder as it got later. I will definitely come back and would recommend.
Love Cottons and the new Shoreditch branch delivers on great Carib food and boozy drinks (gotta love the £5 cocktails happy hour!). It's a great spot for lunch or hang out with friends. Wouldn't recommend for a date as it's too loud. If I could suggest a change I would keep the volume a tad lower and make the lighting a bit more atmospheric (it's a bit bright). Still, it's super nice vibe, great service and one of best spots for Carib food in London!
Waiting service really fell below the mark. Way below the mark. Sad times.
I won’t be returning and wouldn’t recommend, unless people want to be rushed after an hour of dining, orders forgotten and staff uninterested.
Loved the music while we were eating. Even able to order items off the menu.
Authentic Caribbean cuisine, cool surroundings, excellent music, lovely staff. Will definitely visit again.
Went for catch up with my bestie. We both enjoyed our starters and mains. The food was incredible and I'm already looking for a reason to go back.
