Saw some criticisms online (though not many) but that wasn’t my experience. Food was fabulous and service was fine. Michelle was very affable and helpful.
My server Tara was so accommodating and made us feel super welcome, the owner Beth even came over to make sure we were enjoying our meal. The food was BEYOND, this has become my favorite restaurant on the mainline. LOVE LOVE LOVE Cotoletta!!!
Eggplant parm and veal deep fried to rock hard finish.
First time at Cotoletta based on a friend's recommendation and it did not disappoint. Dan, our server, was helpful and attentive. The food was delicious. Homemade eggplant parm was yummy.
Fabulous food and a great atmosphere!
The place is adorable - well decorated in a small home setting. The food was incredible and a great value. It is BYOB so that keeps costs low. The service was so charming. I can't wait to go back.
Fabulous food, great service, they welcome you like your family, always a good choice
First time for us trying this "neighborhood" restaurant. Celebrated a birthday with the family - two of which do not eat meat. We also had our four year old grandson who is a picky eater. Started with the Milan salad and a few other appetizers. They were are very good - especially the salad. We split the salad three ways. Grandson's dinner came out and he ordered a chicken cutlet - with no sauce. He devoured it and asked for another one! I had the Mahi Mahi and it was delicious. Wife had veal scaloppini, others had chicken parm, pasta with asparagus, and salmon. And then grandson ate an entire second piece of chicken. Everyone enjoyed their dish. The waitstaff was very attentive - even catering to the four year old. We will be going back!
Our first time to this relatively new dining spot. The food is really good. The ambience is simple and non-pretentious. On a negative side, my chair was bumped into by staff often. I felt that since we were only a couple, they tossed us in a table location that was a bit in the way. They seem to cater better to groups and larger families.
All this said, the food was really outstanding.
A BYO gem. The "stack" is a must have.
Great restaurant from Q the valet to the food and service inside.
Our servers were terrific
Food, as always was great.
We were very fortunate to have a table with a last minute reservation for a Saturday evening and, then, to end up getting lost on our way to the restaurant resulting in our being late for that reservation. As it turned out, the lady who responded to our phone call while lost and greeted us when we finally arrived was very understanding and accommodating. We ended up having a great meal and will return on our next trip to Philadelphia.
Too bad they do not have a liquor license to serve wine! Since we were late, I did not have time to purchase a BYOB of red wine to enjoy with my veal.
Very nice friendly service.
It is a cute restaurant but the food was nothing extraordinary. I felt like the marinara sauce tasted like something out of a jar you get at acme. If I go out to dinner I like to experience food that I don’t have the time to make at home. I felt like I make better food at home.
Excellent service and food
Absolutely awesome!! We were celebrating a birthday and this was the perfect choice. Amazing service and delicious food. Who could ask for anything more?! We had a special pasta appetizer, made in front of us and left us wanting more but we were more than satisfied with our entree choices. Everything was perfect, and dessert was the icing on the cake, no pun intended. Thank you.
Food was excellent and the service workers were all wonderful & attentive! The cutlets are everything that their reputation states.
Went after hearing about this from locals who’ve enjoyed it. Tucked away in a residential neighborhood, it’s a pleasant enough place, but the bare lightbulb fixture over the reception area was a turn off as was the little bar (only 4 seats) with overhead TV that faced the main dining area. There wasn’t a natural partition to keep the bar area separate. Felt kind of like a place that didn’t know whether it wanted to be a sports bar or a nice restaurant. Food was good but not wow. Meatballs were tasty but needed more salt and sauce. The mozzarella/tomato/cucumber “salad” had good flavor but was so soupy it was pretty much gazpacho. It came with inedibly salty and too-crusty crostini. The fish “special” is apparently not all that special as it is permanently on the menu and is way overpriced. When I go back, I’d stick with menu items and try the cutlets that everyone raves about. Kudos to the wait staff who were all very attentive. All in all some possibilities with the place, but I think they could use some little fixes to make it even better.
Owner rather inflexible about table requests, even when many tables are empty. No matter how many times we frequent the restaurant, owner fails to recognize regular customers. Waiter was excellent. When we told owner, she responded, “ they are all great” rather than acknowledging the compliment in a more personal way. Food good, portions plentiful. New cheese pasta special is a rip off! Nice neighborhood spot. Wish owner was warmer.
outstanding once again . One of my Favorites . Food is excellent as always and the service is great
Very good food with nice variety. A BYOB to boot. Prices are proper for the items they are serving, mostly $25-$33/entrée. Mussels in red sauce were great! We will be back!
Best food best neighborhood restaurant
Good food and cool location
Fabulous food, great service( terrific waitress). Will return!!
We had high hopes for this place, but the food was just ok. The milan salad was very heavy on the salad dressing and very scant on the lettuce. I ordered the snapper and it was very bland, served with undercooked string beans. My friends veal was a plate of the largest piece of veal, but was so unappealing and tasted awful, he left most of it on the plate. I won't come back unless they change chefs.
First of all the wait staff was excellent...on top of that the food :Milan salad, pepper and cheese pasta and the "Stack" were
All flawless and superb... Flawless meal...
Great staff and food
The food was delicious
Giant portions which were fabulous
The service was outstanding and every suggestion that was made was perfect
I would highly recommend this restaurant
Food was good but it was expensive for the portion size. We also waited almost an hour and a half for our entrees and we had to flag someone down to let them know--It took so long the waitress cleared our appetizer plates and asked if we wanted to dessert and we had to let her know we were still waiting for our entrees. While they remedied the situation by comping our appetizers, I don't think I'll be back.
Food, atmosphere and general ambience acceptable, but definitely not any kind of foodie destination. OK for this neighborhood! Fairly decent Italian fare. But on Saturday night, at least, the noise level was shattering. If you don't want to have a conversation, I guess it's passable; any communication across table---forget about it!! I would definitely like a little innovation on the menu. There's nothing there that I don't make at home and just as well. When I dine out I expect something more. Again, passable but not much more.
It was our first time there but have been meaning to try it for quite some time. So glad we did. It’s such a cute place and food was excellent. We loved their red sauce; thick and full of flavor. We will definitely be back.
The food was great however the service was very slow, it took us close to 2 hours to be served our main meal, they did comp us desserts and kept apologizing for the delay. We were with good friends so that made it not so bad, I would probably go back a second time!
Great experience from start to finish. Amazing pasta appetizer that we're still talking about - freshly made spaghetti tossed in a parmesan wheel and brought to the table pipping hot. Devoured in a minute! The chicken and eggplant parmigiana and the stack were all fabulous and the tiramisu was one of the best I've ever had. Well worth leaving room for at the end of the meal. Only issue was the the space is loud when crowded. We'll be back soon!
Once again a terrific experience! Great food, great service....just a new favorite spot for our family as we have now dined there 3X in the last month. The pasta is terrific, the chicken legendary...and now we know the veal is also terrific. Bravo!
Food was soooo delicious! I can’t wait to go back!! Cutlets were AMAZING—the best I’ve ever had.
Enjoyed the Stack, arugula salad and Pepe e caccia.
This was our second visit after seeing this place on local TV show. What a find! We live in the suburbs and routinely travel into South Philly for the best Italian food. We'd certainly put this spot on par with the very best of those and we don't say that lightly. The food is terrific....not just the chicken cutlet dishes for which they are clearly known for but for everything we have tried including the meatballs which we shared as an appetizer both times along with the pasta cooked in the hallowed out cheese wheel. Speaking of that, don't miss the pasta/cheese wheel dish as an appetizer to share....just so neat and delicious. It's a real difference maker and a special experience to see them prepare it. The pasta itself is really special in any dish. The chef/owner comes out to the tables....what a nice and hard working lady. We had Michelle as our waitress twice....be sure to ask for her if you like help working around the menu and for a few laughs...really great service and highly recommended. Easy to get to as well off the highway and complimentary Valet really makes things easy.
Disappointing experience -- the food was not impressive. I wouldn't go back.
Delicious food and great service - as always!
