Amazing food, everything is stunning! I entertain a lot for work and frequent all of the great restaurants San Francisco has to offer and this is the best food wise. Book your resi early and it won't disappoint.
Food great and service great, woman at bar was shouting into her phone which intruded on
Food was just ok. Very loud & small inside. We were seated at the bar even tho we had reservation, which turned out to be better cse otherwise we wouldn’t be able to hear each other. I was expecting more of a food choice & quality.
Awesome service with wonderful food!
this is a must visit restaurant. go especially for the Sunday supper menu.
Great service and top notch food.
The dishes I had were good but they perhaps a little simple overall.
One of the best places in the city
Great. Very professional and knowledgeable service. Great food!
Great food, the works. Will go back soon, whenever I could get a similar time mid afternoon.
Incredible service, great pasta and a lovely setting.
The food quality is excellent! The service is not too polished but everyone is very friendly.
What an incredible surprise!!! ... wish to live in San Fran to come more frequently!!!
Amazing service - food was outstanding! Highly recommend!
We’ve been to Cotogna a number of times. The food is excellent. There is a nice, slow pace to the meal. Most of the waitstaff is attentive and knowledgeable. This time we had one waiter with a snooty attitude. Maybe he didn’t think we were good enough to eat here.
Let's start with the "not so good." It's very loud, in large part because the tables are packed so tightly (of necessity, since without as many tables the place probably wouldn't survive), and there's very little ambiance, as there is at, say, Spruce. The food and service, though, are exceptional. The waitress thoroughly knew the menu and was very attentive. The food is among the best Italian I've ever eaten. We had focaccia, chicory and pear salad, two pastas and gelato for dessert. All were outstanding. This is one of my favorite places in the city.
the most beautiful delicious place in SF
Small but delicious food. We know good Italian on the east coast but San Francisco has done it!
Our server Haley was fantastic.
Fantastic food, service, and people!
My dream lunch! That ravioli!
Overall nice and what we have is always tasty, but the main dishes lacked enough vegetable or grain/starch to feel anything like a complete meal and we didn’t see any cooked non-starchy vegetable sides to buy separately (the fractured incomplete dinner plate, a sadly spreading trend we and everyone we know abhor.) So we had to buy a salad to try to round out the pasta and protein, but lettuce leaves are not a substitute for a dinner vegetable. So it feels like a very lopsided meal that none of us would cook or serve anyone for dinner at home. Plus as one of the legions sensitive to gluten I had to avoid over half the menu; most restaurants today keep a simple box of pasta to throw in a pot of water; to refuse that in this era seems counterintuitive and even a little hostile. I am almost certain they used to. So without the pasta course I was still hungry after a salad and small portion of duck with a scattering of grapes and a few outer leaves of Brussels sprouts. I had to either go back and order some potatoes or an OK but not special dessert which I did; thought the whole thing a bit overpriced, unsatisfying and nutritional unbalanced. That said the service is always excellent, noise level reasonable, atmosphere warm and since it’s within walking distance we’ll keep going there for a treat, not so much a meal.
Amazing time, amazing food, host accommodated our last minute request and our server gave us great food recommendations. Overall amazing experience!
Our favorite go to restaurant! The food is always amazing and the presentation divine. Cotogna sets the bar high for food, service and ambiance.
Made reservation for 2:15 but arrived 1:45. The place was full and we were told we had to wait, no problem.... came back at 2:10 and by 2:25 we were told there was a group of 3 in front of us. The manager explained without apologies they were still in time, 10 minutes late should not be a problem for us. She was actually arrogant, if she had approached us in a friendly manner, the experience would have been quite different.
My food was quite tasty, spaghetti al vongoli. My daughter’s plate was very salty and my husband’s rigatoni da Nona was also tasty. But, the food was not exceptional, it was the average Italian, but the price was not average. Impossible to talk and be heard, too loud.
Our server was wonderful and very attentive.
Everything, food, service, decor, A+ However, the noise level was so extreme, it was impossible to chat without shouting,,,which makes matters worse. We were seated next to a table of four men all with deep, resonant voices. Just the luck of the draw. On an up note, the staff from receptionist to waitress, to busperson, was extremely welcoming, kind, helpful... very professional. We would return.
Cotogna had fantastic service and recommendations. Their mushroom pizza was some of the best pizza I’ve had in a while and I typically don’t even like mushrooms. Raviolo was creamy and delicious and then the dessert of homemade gelato rolled up to your table and served was both so fun and so delicious! Highly recommend to anyone!
Awesome food. Best dining in sf right now
Have gone to Cotogna/Quince many times. Only reservation we could several weeks ahead was at 430pm. We arrived at 430pm and restaurant was mostly empty. They put us at the most uncomfortable table in the restaurant. We tolerated it for awhile but then it all got worse because they accommodated many walk-ins with no reservations. All got better seating than us and it was so crowded servers had to almost get in our laps to serve new guests.
We asked for a table change 10 min before our first course arrived. Manager came by after first course served so really no point at that time. One of the pasta dishes was way over salted and we like salt. We would have normally sent this back but we were so disrupted by the onslaught of no reservation new seatings. The manager was not helpful and they only comped us an extra dessert that we did not need.
It was my husband’s birthday and they printed special placemats with his name and brought a lovely dessert with a candle. Five Star restaurant!!!
Price of the pastas was too high for the quality and standard received. Antipasti and pizzas are very good though.
Overall service was superb but my pasta vongole was a bit sticky and too much basil or pesto sauce on it---I asked waitress if it was white sauce and not tomatoe and so expected plain white sauce??
The pizza was excellent.
Favorite Italian restaurant! Food better than authentic!
Fantastic experience, great service, and amazing good
Food was truly excellent. Same goes for service. I just wish tables were not as crammed together.
Best please I’ve eaten in a while.
It was my birthday lunch and they printed it on our place mats! Nice touch!
Server was understanding, patient and smart, anticipating our needs.
Food is always first rate, extraordinarily fresh and delicious. That’s why we always come for special celebrations. We would come more often if it weren’t SO noisy. It’s hard for us octogenarians.
In spite of the noise, we keep coming back. That’s how good it is !! 👍👍👍👍👍
Our experience at Cotogna was off the charts amazing. Delicious little gems salad followed by mushroom & onion pizza and a gorgeous cake that tasted like autumn. Amazing service. Cotogna is an A+++++++++.
Amazing, as always! One of the very best of SF!
The food was fantastic. Our server Anna was great! The raviolo and the vanilla gelato with chocolate sauce are must haves!
Great Italian restaurant in the city. I recommend making reservations before going. I highly suggest trying the Raviolo with farm egg & brown butter. Our waitress recommended this and I was so happy to listen. I've never had a ravioli that was the size of a dinner plate. The seasoning was perfect. The focaccia bread was also very sumptuous. My husband was very pleased with his Don Watson lamb pappardelle with broccolini & mint. We enjoyed the warm and welcoming atmosphere here and would definitely come back again.
