Food was fantastic. Service was good. Loved the ambience and unique experience
great flavor of meat, good service.
For us, it was noisy, but for young crowd, good ambience.
Great quality food great service, fun dining experience with friends
we have a very bad waiter, aggressive, she threw the pliers on the table, we complain and after they change it went well
Amazing!!! Best Korean BBQ EVER
Food was pretty good but on the pricey side. Waitress was attentive.
The quality of the meats is outstanding, as reviewed by many..
Would add more ban-chan (korean little dishes) to make it more attractive.
and definitely add the regular SOJUs to the drink list.
The meat did not live up to its billing. I had tough cuts and some tasteless cuts.
the side dishes were very good and interesting. It was a fun presentation.
We had a 6:30 reservation, and when we arrived at 6:30 we were asked to wait by the bar.
We were immediately greeted by the bar tender who began to pour us water, but we were then informed that our table was ready.
The tables are very big no matter your party size, but it is very comfortable and the mood is very trendy. Brendan our server was fantastic! Very kind and accommodating. I was very excited and impressed to see a female sommelier, Victoria, who was very knowledgeable, but also helped serve if she happened to be around.
The wine selections were great, I wish the cocktail selection was a little more extensive, but they do have a full bar.
NOW, the food...is divine! I am a huge KBBQ connoisseur (self-appointed), but Cote has it down! We ordered the Butcher's Feast and it is divine. We were worried that it wouldn't be enough food, but it definitely is. Each cut of meat is beautiful, the server takes care in grilling the meat for you, explaining the cuts, and waiting between servings. The side dishes are a perfect compliment, especially the fermented veggies. The egg souffle is so fluffy, and contrary to reviews I have read, while it sat throughout the meal, it did not get worse! It in fact was just as delicious.
Definitely will return!
Cote is a fun and delicious restaurant. The service was great .. a little noisy but definitely worth h a visit or two or more!
Trendy hot-spot! Best suited to groups of 4-6. LOUD conversation - you may find it difficult to hear people at your own table. Service and food are excellent - definitely go for the butcher's feast. Good price for great quality. Get reservations far in advance to get the time slot you want. Make sure to check out the dry-aged meat locker downstairs!
The best steakhouse experience served in a different and fun way. Go for the feast.
Cynthia great under Victoria’s amazing direction
Daniel outstanding server
Miriam was similarly terrific on last visit
3 or us went for the butcher’s feast to celebrate my birthday. We noticed the table next to us with 4 people got double the portion of what we received. It felt like 3 people sharing a 2 people portion. Service was very attentive because the water was always filled. We were there under 1 hour. I walked away to wash my hands at the end of the meal, and apparently during that time one staff was asking my guests for the table back. I understand the restaurant is busy but we arrived after the people around us and order and dined quicker than them. The old fashioned cocktail we ordered came with small pieces of ice cubes rather than one large cube, which makes a difference in the taste of the cocktail. The air was not ventilated well enough because we could see visible smoke hovering around the ceiling lights. I could overlook most of the bad qualities but I thought it was so rude of the staff to ask my guests to the table back and for that reason I will never return.
Was incredibly rushed toward the end of our meal. Tainted an otherwise great dinner.
The food was delicious and our waiter Daniel was great. We had a very enjoyable experience!
So great! Better than expected. Amazing meat and flavors highly recommend. It was an amazing surprise for dinner.
I made reservation at 9:45pm and I got there on time. But my friends and I were seated around 11:15 pm. Personally, I feel like they should have not gotten further reservations if they would take this long. There was no point of making a reservation that late.
I would say the bbq is definitely pricy. We waited at the bar and had few cocktails and they served the complimentary French Fries. We had the fixed menu and I think that was enough since the set included dessert as well.
The atmosphere is very high class although the noise level was also high.
We love everything about Cote!
Lots of people go there from NYT’s good review. Meat itself is a good quality but really tiny portion. Vodka tonic, Jin tonic is $17 each and glass of wine is $15-25. Atmosphere is good and maybe you want to try once but you will know what I mean. I won’t recommend this restaurant as Korean. Too overpriced.
We went with high expectations as we are fans of Korean BBQ and dry-aged steak, and had heard good things about the restaurant. Unfortunately we were very disappointed.
The selling point of the restaurant is that it uses good steak, including dry-aged steak for Korean BBQ. The four of us ordered the Butcher’s Feast. The waiter who was serving us did not ask us how we wanted the steak done, did not bother to tell us what meat is being served (I had to ask him each time he serves us a new type of meat), basically burnt all the meat (and mushrooms and other vegetables), and instead of serving us the meat, threw the meat on our plates. Frankly at this stage, it was not possible to tell whether this was dry aged meat or otherwise.
Other sticking points: The banchan selection in the Butcher Feast is tiny. The wine list, while extensive, was stacked with very expensive wines (most bottles are more than USD 100 each and are overpriced for what they are).
For the price, we are better off going to one of the good Korean BBQs on 32nd St. You get better food and service at a lower price. It was a disappointing Friendsgiving dinner.
Food was sub par but I may be a bit biased as a Korean and a meat lover but the hospitality and service quality was incredibly lacking in so many ways and that is an understatement. Getting yelled at from our server and not having a simple request of a surprise candle with our dessert for my friend not being fulfilled was a letdown, especially when I had to tell my friend and then tell an employee about it. Quite embarrassing and disappointing.
The meat, food and service was excellent, but not worth 1 Michelin Star...
Absolutely delicious meal, incredible value. Three of us ordered the butcher’s feast with three kinds of meat. We added filet mignon as a fourth. We also had crudités and the grilled pork belly appetizer, which were delicious. The meat was well prepared, well-seasoned and tasted great with the sides. The meal came with a hot kimchi stew and another stew with tofu to eat with rice - we didn’t realize the banchan would be so substantial. Our meal also came with a delicious egg soufflé, which I would happily eat every day. Great cocktails. Loved the dry aging room in the basement, where you can see the meat through a floor to ceiling window. Highly recommend!
Love this place. The food is incredible and service is excellent. Not your typical Korean bbq spot. Better. And price is comparable to ktown with better quality meat.
Even with a relatively late reservation we were left standing at the noisy bar for almost one hour before being seated. I was entertaining friends from out of town who had had a busy day full of meetings and this was the last thing I wanted them to deal with. If they had told us the wait would be an hour when we entered we would have simply gone elsewhere. The pork belly appetizer was quite tasty but the tasting cuts weren't extraordinary.
First impressions: We were running late, but when we got there we had to wait another 10 minutes at the bar before we got seated. The bartenders were very busy so it took a while before I was able to order.
The restaurant was very noisy. The music was loud, the people around us were loud-- everything contributed to the noise level. We had to raise our voices to hear each other and often had to repeat ourselves, so it was hard to have a conversation.
The dining room: The place was divided into 2 rooms by the bar. When we eventually got seated, we were led to the front room. I kept my wool coat on for a bit as the room was cold and only took it off when the table grill warmed up. The room had an industrial feel, and we had benches instead of chairs back to back with other diners (I think I elbowed someone behind me). The space on either side was roomy though.
The drinks: I ordered a frose, and it was very pretty and yummy— it tasted sort of like a daiquiri. The straw was too thin, though, and I got a regular straw just so I could drink it without difficulty. My friend got a mai tai— her drink had mostly ice and not enough mai tai. She also said it didn’t taste like a mai tai.
The food: We ordered the butcher’s feast and a wagyu “paella”. The rib eye was great, as was the marinated galbi. My friend liked the first steak the most — I think it was the hanger steak. The egg dish was good, too, and I liked the soups. We probably shouldn’t have ordered the paella as there was too much food on the table for 2 people.
The paella was good, although it was more a fried rice than a "paella" and I think it was a waste of wagyu.
To finish, we had a soft serve with caramel sauce. It was delicious, and I wanted more even though I was bursting at the seams.
$$: I knew when I made the reservation that this was going to be expensive. This was the most I’ve paid for dinner in a Korean restaurant. It was good food, but would I go back? Maybe, maybe not.
Nice experience and you don’t come out smelling like Korean BBQ. Meat quality was great.
The butcher’s feast was great and the meats were great but the restaurant was extremely noisy, it was impossible to have a conversation we couldn’t even hear the waitress’ explanations. I wouldn’t go back
Amazing experience. Everything was outstanding, service was exceptional.
Always a good night at cote. Good food, good wine, best ice cream in nyc!
This place was excellent. Best meet you can find.
They didn't have our reservation in the system
a great dining experience with fantastic food and great service.
Such a great meal. Attentive server. Delicious. It's high end steak prepared Korean-style. It's not typical Korean BBQ as much as it is Korean - Steakhouse fusion.
Service and food were amazing!
Food and service was excellent. Wine list is EXTREMELY over priced. You can hardly find a bottle under $100. Pretty absurd not to offer a better variety. I will not be going back.
Classy, high profile Korean BBQ. The best cuts of steak we've ever had
I went to Cote on a Saturday night with a small group of friends - we were all keen to try the Butchers Feast, which sounded amazing. We were not disappointed! Our server was attentive, although we found his mannerism slightly off, but we couldn't quite figure out why. He explained the menu and the order in which we should cook the meat - the butchers feast lets you sample 4 prime cuts of beef, along with some vegetables and two stews. The food was divine. Except for the pepper, which we grilled and ate at the end - it almost burnt our tongues off! Some of the servers were kind enough to bring us ice and milk (I would like to clarify, that we all love spicy food, but couldn't handle this at all!). Overall, a fun night out with friends & great food.
