Côte is a Korean barbecue place in Flatiron that looks kind of a like a nightclub and serves some high-quality beef. They also do a great prix fixe.

Ratings 8.0-8.5:The best way to think about restaurants in the low to mid 8′s is that these are the places you would absolutely go back to, anytime. These restaurants are ones that you want to bring a friend to, just so they can also experience the duck carnitas, or burger, or whatever dish the place is known for.

Our early evening reservation was perfect for our group of 5 (2 adults and 3 children) where we enjoyed the Butcher's Feast, a sampler of sorts that I highly recommend for your first visit. The very interactive dining experience was well enjoyed by our children and promoted active conversation and yielded little opportunity for interacting with electronic devices. The side dishes were flavorful and complimented the copious portions of red meat. The service was spot-on and we found the Cote mantra of "Meat + Fire + Booze = Smiles!" to be very accurate for the adults - and we created our own child friendly mantra of Meat + Fire + Soft Serve= Smiles! for the children. We will definitely return for another early evening with the children and also a later evening with a group of carnivorous friends to indulge in more red meat and the tasty and creative libations.

The food is phenomenal and the waiters are all super friendly and knowledgeable. I have been to this restaurant a few times and have never received bad service and the food is consistently good. Also, the atmosphere of the restaurant is extremely fun, inviting and perfect for a date night or a night out with friends. Definitely can get a bit loud at times, but this is has never been a problem and I feel Korean BBQ tends to foster a more social outing. Lastly, their bar tenders are amazing and there are a ton of great cocktails.

Was excited to try Cote because I had heard good things, but I was slightly disappointed overall. The restaurant is extremely dark and it was really difficult to see the menu and even the person I went to dinner with who sat across from me. I felt like I was eating in a cave. The staff were friendly, but didn't go out of their way with their hospitality as a most "higher end" restaurants do. The food was just okay. I've been to South Korea and have had BBQ at more authentic places that were also much less expensive. Given the cost, I was hoping for larger amounts of meat and unlimited, if not better, ban chan (as you get at most Korean BBQ places). I also thought it was strange that they cook the meat for you and in front of you. I thought the point of going to Korean BBQ was to cook it yourself? Given the price and the fact that the food was nothing special, I think I'll stick to the Korean restaurants in K-Town in the future.

This was a fun place to go. We could hear each other talk. The food was outstanding. I loved the Korean BBQ! Leigh was our main server and explained everything in detail, but all employees were very attentive. Tom Brown, the General Many, was very personable and made us feel very welcome. I would definitely make reservations again.

Everything was great. Just the idea of spending so much at a korean bbq is quite hard to fathom and we left still hungry. It’s understandable that this isn’t your average korean bbq restaurant and glad we got to experience the hype.

It’s a birthday dinner… but the service ruined the dinner…require to check out (one and half hour)when they still have table empty…if they have ppl waiting for the table I will understand …meat quality is pretty good but server didn’t know the correct way to cook it.

The quality of the meats is outstanding, as reviewed by many..
Would add more ban-chan (korean little dishes) to make it more attractive.
and definitely add the regular SOJUs to the drink list.

We had a 6:30 reservation, and when we arrived at 6:30 we were asked to wait by the bar.
We were immediately greeted by the bar tender who began to pour us water, but we were then informed that our table was ready.

The tables are very big no matter your party size, but it is very comfortable and the mood is very trendy. Brendan our server was fantastic! Very kind and accommodating. I was very excited and impressed to see a female sommelier, Victoria, who was very knowledgeable, but also helped serve if she happened to be around.

The wine selections were great, I wish the cocktail selection was a little more extensive, but they do have a full bar.

NOW, the food...is divine! I am a huge KBBQ connoisseur (self-appointed), but Cote has it down! We ordered the Butcher's Feast and it is divine. We were worried that it wouldn't be enough food, but it definitely is. Each cut of meat is beautiful, the server takes care in grilling the meat for you, explaining the cuts, and waiting between servings. The side dishes are a perfect compliment, especially the fermented veggies. The egg souffle is so fluffy, and contrary to reviews I have read, while it sat throughout the meal, it did not get worse! It in fact was just as delicious.

Definitely will return!

Trendy hot-spot! Best suited to groups of 4-6. LOUD conversation - you may find it difficult to hear people at your own table. Service and food are excellent - definitely go for the butcher's feast. Good price for great quality. Get reservations far in advance to get the time slot you want. Make sure to check out the dry-aged meat locker downstairs!

3 or us went for the butcher’s feast to celebrate my birthday. We noticed the table next to us with 4 people got double the portion of what we received. It felt like 3 people sharing a 2 people portion. Service was very attentive because the water was always filled. We were there under 1 hour. I walked away to wash my hands at the end of the meal, and apparently during that time one staff was asking my guests for the table back. I understand the restaurant is busy but we arrived after the people around us and order and dined quicker than them. The old fashioned cocktail we ordered came with small pieces of ice cubes rather than one large cube, which makes a difference in the taste of the cocktail. The air was not ventilated well enough because we could see visible smoke hovering around the ceiling lights. I could overlook most of the bad qualities but I thought it was so rude of the staff to ask my guests to the table back and for that reason I will never return.

I made reservation at 9:45pm and I got there on time. But my friends and I were seated around 11:15 pm. Personally, I feel like they should have not gotten further reservations if they would take this long. There was no point of making a reservation that late.

I would say the bbq is definitely pricy. We waited at the bar and had few cocktails and they served the complimentary French Fries. We had the fixed menu and I think that was enough since the set included dessert as well.

The atmosphere is very high class although the noise level was also high.

Lots of people go there from NYT’s good review. Meat itself is a good quality but really tiny portion. Vodka tonic, Jin tonic is $17 each and glass of wine is $15-25. Atmosphere is good and maybe you want to try once but you will know what I mean. I won’t recommend this restaurant as Korean. Too overpriced.

We went with high expectations as we are fans of Korean BBQ and dry-aged steak, and had heard good things about the restaurant. Unfortunately we were very disappointed.

The selling point of the restaurant is that it uses good steak, including dry-aged steak for Korean BBQ. The four of us ordered the Butcher’s Feast. The waiter who was serving us did not ask us how we wanted the steak done, did not bother to tell us what meat is being served (I had to ask him each time he serves us a new type of meat), basically burnt all the meat (and mushrooms and other vegetables), and instead of serving us the meat, threw the meat on our plates. Frankly at this stage, it was not possible to tell whether this was dry aged meat or otherwise.

Other sticking points: The banchan selection in the Butcher Feast is tiny. The wine list, while extensive, was stacked with very expensive wines (most bottles are more than USD 100 each and are overpriced for what they are).

For the price, we are better off going to one of the good Korean BBQs on 32nd St. You get better food and service at a lower price. It was a disappointing Friendsgiving dinner.

Food was sub par but I may be a bit biased as a Korean and a meat lover but the hospitality and service quality was incredibly lacking in so many ways and that is an understatement. Getting yelled at from our server and not having a simple request of a surprise candle with our dessert for my friend not being fulfilled was a letdown, especially when I had to tell my friend and then tell an employee about it. Quite embarrassing and disappointing.
