A lovely evening for four friends Food and presentation pretty good although no English mustard only French available Service with a smile with a few gentle hints when the table over-cluttered We were the last to leave but no pressure to depart

A lovely breakfast with a few slightly ‘different’ things on the menu which was nice to see. Egg overcooked was the only downside, but this seems to always be the case

We sat outside, it was a very cosy ambiance. The tables aren’t too close together and the food was lovely.

Truly awful experience at the Godalming Cote Brasserie. Loud thumping music, calamari starter inedible, they “forgot” our main course order so after waiting an hour I asked where it was, they stared at me blankly completely clueless. When the main course did arrive we asked for cutlery and when it didn’t arrive I had to source some myself. Steak frites smothered in garlic butter. We ordered pudding, once again no cutlery provided before they arrived so to be able to eat them at correct temperature we used our spoons from my tea. No teapot used in fresh mint tea - just a handful of leaves shoved into a glass with hot water. I don’t think I’ve ever experienced such utterly abysmal service. We were given a free bottle of wine but I’d much rather an enjoyable dining experience, especially when this was intended to be a treat for my father.

The staff and service were outstanding. Unfortunately the food was not. The French onion soup was not baked as other Cote restaurants. It was served lukewarm in a bowl, which i think was microwaved and not a fresh batch, it needed seasoning, it was served with two pieces of cheese topped baguette separately, which I don't believe was Compte as tasteless. It should have been served grilled on top of the soup. The moules were also a disappointment, not plump and fresh, but rather shrivelled and dry and tiny mussels, but the sauce was very good, but again not hot and possibly reheated from earlier batch, not cooked to order. Food was served swiftly and I did not comment as the servers were so welcoming and lovely and the food not their domain. Cote is a chain, so food should be consistent. You would not have a McDonalds with baps served separately so the chef should follow the Cote standard on the French Onion soup. Very disappointing and sadly not a French restaurant experience or a Cote Brasserie experience as pictured on reviews of other restaurants in the chain.
