I rated Costa Blanka the way I did because of the seating atmosphere. Way too crowed and unable to have a conversation with my dinner guest. Was very uncomfortable.
We are very particular about restaurants overall dining experience in the twin cities which in general are a disappointment, however Costa Blanca is not. The food is beautifully present, the sauces and flavors well blanked and innovative, perfectly cooked and served. As our weekly at home menu reads and is served like a high end bistro from courses (always 3) to plating, it is a real pleasure to go to restaurants where the food is well elevated above what I am even wiling to cook on weekends. The menu changes frequently enough to honor the seasonal selections available that we are able to dine here once a month through out the year and not ever be bored with the selection. The cocktails are excellent, some of the best craft cocktails in the twin cities and an excellent wine list.
The menu was vibrant, and interesting. The food was tremendous. The service was ideal (re: prompt, yet unobtrusive). And the wine was lovely. We’ll definitely be back!
The variety and quality of the plates were both excellent. The service was beyond any reasonable expectations. We will become regulars at Costa Blanca.
Too many tables in a small space made it hard to have conversation.
Lovely dinner. The calamari, fried cheese and bacon wrapped dates were excellent. Same with the Iberian plate, sea bass and beef tenderloin. Nice flavors, good presentation. I love that it was quiet. It made conversation so much easier. The server was alone and had 6-7 tables but handled it all very well. I’ll definitely go back.
Portion were so tiny, very expensive for the amount of food, the food is very delicious just wish you would have got more for our buck
Always unique and delicious! Service was outstanding as well. Quaint little restaurant, great for date night!!
Great food. Really nice atmosphere and good value. Lively without being overbearing. Highly recommend.
The food was way too small for the price. It also didn't taste authentic - nothing like how the food is actually made in the original countries.
We had a wonderful meal this weekend at Costa Blanca. The menu is creative and interesting. There is a nice variety of flavors. The small plates format allows for experimentation. The space is not fancy, but has a nice "urban casual" feel. The restaurant is located close enough to downtown and the University of Minnesota to make it a nice option for dinner before shows and other events. We will definite be back, and recommend Costa Blanca to others.
One of the best dinners we have had in the Twin Cities. The food was absolutely delicious and the service was great. The restaurant is small which gives a great ambiance. We will definitely return very soon!
Excellent food and fabulously attentive service in a great environment.
Terrific tapas! We felt like we were back in Spain- delicious with great service!
First time at Costa Blanca and we were extremely happy! The food was absolutely delicious, and our server was helpful in recommending things and being attentive. Only downfall is that it is a bit pricey - but you get what you pay for - and what we got was well worth it!
Costa Blanco is a wonderful restaurant. Food is so beautifully prepared and served. I have been 3 times and have never received a dish that wasn't fantastic. Our Server was knowledgeable, shared info and suggestions. This visit was to show a friend your awesome food. Thank you for a relaxing, fun evening!
Food is top notch. Servers recommendations were very helpful. Banana creme brûlée bread pudding outstanding!
Server was knowledgeable on all food and story behind restaurant. He aided us when we needed help. He also gave us plenty of time to talk and decide on food. He was attentive but didn’t interrupt a lot. The food itself was well priced. You get what you pay for. Very tasty! Would highly recommend going as a couple or with few people. Because they’re tapas, you’ll probably want more than one plate. It was easy to choose and eat with only one other person with.
We dined on NYE and could tell they were not expecting the crowds. Thankfully we had a reservation and were able to be seated within a reasonable time from our specified time slot. Service was understandably a bit slow, but our server was as attentive as she could be since she was one of maybe two people working the dining floor. The food was fantastic, and we would love to go back on a non-event night to reevaluate the service and ambiance. This is a neighborhood gem!
Excellent tapas restaurant with beautiful flavors and presentation. Decent portions for a small plate restaurant. Seafood dishes, in particular, are outstanding and the Plato Iberico is a must (charcuterie). Chef Ruiz knows good food and Costa Blanca is a great experience.
Excellent tapas style restaurant. Seafood focus but mixed in with vegetarian and meat dishes. Our GF friends do well here. Wine list is very good. Don’t forget to save room for chiros! This is a go to date night place for us.
There were four of us and we ordered six plates and, yes, it's enough. All of the plates were very good and attractively presented; service was attentive and quite charming. The smoked agave margarita is very good, too! Highly recommended.
I absolutely loved the Carne! The service was amazing and our waiter/server was named Benjamin if I recall. He broke down everything on the menu for me and was being so nice from the beginning! 10/10 will return for sure !
This is my absolute favorite restaurant in Minneapolis. My husband and I almost always choose this for our date nights. Excellent food, service and cocktails!
Really amazing quality and variety of tapas. Our waiter was extremely knowledgeable and so sweet. We had gone previously for dessert which was great since they are open late, but the smell inside was so wonderful that we knew we had to return for dinner, and we were not disappointed!
We had such a great time here because of our awesome waiter Tim! The food was great and he really made the night special.
Love having an upscale little bistro in our neighborhood and the shared plates make the dining varied and intimate.
We eat out a lot and I can't think of any other restaurant in the Twin Cities that consisntely offers such excellent food at such reasonable prices as Costa Blanca. Their dishes are so creative and well-prepared, with such a luscious range of ingredients, from jamon iberico to chorizo to lobster to octopus and so much more. My husband and I love to share plates, so we have fun choosing a variety of interesting combinations -- 3 usually does it for the two of us, 4 if we're really hungry. The Costa Blanca servers are also extremely helpful about helping you make good choices and coursing out the meal so you can enjoy it at a comfortable pace. I also love the homemade sangria and tasty selection of Spanish wines -- great cocktails, too. The only change I would like to see to the menu is adding the tasty tomato bread we've had in Spain and maybe a green salad or two. Other than that, I am a huge Costa Blanca fan and am already looking forward to my next meal there!
Service was fantastic. Food was fresh and so many unique flavors. Great atmosphere, every seat was full so I’m glad we had a reservation.
It was a crowded place, and there wasn’t a lot of room, but the food and service was out of this world!
Our third time at Costa Blanca and as good as we remember!
I’d like to say I enjoyed the food, because it looked delicious; however, after sitting at our table unacknowledged by a server for 20 minutes we left.
Loved the food. It was all delicious, though I have to say that the sauce/seasoning on several of the items tasted the same (maybe a lot of smoked paprika?)
I thought the prices were high for "small plates", but the food is great
This is a favorite spot for me in my neighborhood. The food is so delicious and the staff make you feel like family. It is a wonderful little tapas place in NE. Keep up the great work Costa Blanca!
Understaffed front of house. 2 people covering the whole room plus bartending and hostessing Working very hard and very polite but just understaffed
Food was amazing! Server seemed like she was having a bad day. Since the waitstaff is the face of your business, you may need to find friendly people.
Interesting and excellent tasting small plates, with a simple and pleasant atmosphere. I am sure I will come here again and again.
Love the favor combinations in each dish! Wine choices were spot on. Churros were a delicious way to top off our meal. We'll be back soon!
This is one of my favorite restaurants in Minneapolis.
I love the tapas concept to be able to eat variety of dishes. The restaurant is small so reservations are needed.
