What Insiders Are Saying
Cosme is an upscale Mexican restaurant in Flatiron that’s much more approachable than it appears to be.
I have no idea how this restaurant hasn't earned a Michelin star yet, that's how good it is.
Service was incredible. Food was incredible - especially the duck, squash, and husk meringue. Only observation is that the prices seem to have gone way up and portion sizes are reminescent of old French restaurants.
Excelente. Todo estuvo muy bueno. Es bueno regresarme.
Food it’s incredible, a bit pricey and some items like an extra order of 3 tortillas are charged separately
Wine selection a bit disappointing
Duck and lamb were outstanding!
The food here is quite good--albeit in our opinion way overpriced with poor service. Sorry to say we were there for my birthday dinner and were disappointed mostly by a very rushed and impersonal service. The martinis were 3/4 full, we had to ask over and over for more chips for the amount of guacamole served, to the point they actually charged us $1 for some chips--after spending over $250! While they provided a complimentary small piece of dessert to share for the brithday--before we were even finished they had already handed us the check not bothering to ask if we wanted coffee or an after dinner drink. Moreover, sorry to say, the tables needed refinishing or tablecloths, and the plate ware was very clunky and felt like the thick variety you used to get for free at grocery stores--never can go wrong with thin elegant white plate ware and let the food be the attraction!
Massively overpriced for overly simple good. The duck was several levels below the worst Chinese restaurant in china town
Terribly overpriced and disappointing, tasteless food. I was so excited to go, a tourist visiting NY from abroad and looking for interesting new flavours. I was so disappointed and regretted going, especially as it was our last night and far more expensive than any of the high end dining we had enjoyed earlier in our stay. Wouldn't recommend it to anyone at all. Sorry.
Outstanding, creative cuisine with nuanced flavors
Service was excellent with thoughtful advice from our waiter
A very refine Mexican spot. Although service lacks of energy and kindness the food is absolutely terrific. Great flavors but very pricey and the cocktail are great!
Way way overprice for a decent food. Rude hostess, only the service was on point.
This was the second time for us first was lunch and second dinner. I have to say that we were disappointed with the portions and the prices this time. The menu change and so the portions. We love the space and the service was very good.
El lugar es lindo y muy cool. La comida es diferente y deliciosa. Les recomiendo pedir el pato. Los mozos son muy amables y saben dar recomendaciones de los platos ya que muchos ingredientes son distintos.
Lo recomiendo full.
The duck carnitas and the meringue with corn mousse dessert are a must have
Food is incredible, octopus dish was absolutely unbelievable.
Service was attentive, everything was really fantastic.
Only note, my mom has spent 3 months in Mexico for the last 2 years and tried to bring my dad to Pujol and due to allergies he refused to go. There was this whole back story to why we were there and no one every engaged with us and gave that room to open up about it. Service was great but no one took an interest. It would have been fun to interact a little more.
I have been here many times and it never disappoints. Everything was on point! Our friend joined us from Paris and they thought the t was the best food they have ever had in NYC. That says a lot about a NY restaurant. Just don’t expect Americanized Mexican food. This is the real deal and it’s amazing!
The food was terrific. When they say the duck is for sharing, they’re not kidding. It’s a LOT of duck meat.
Waitress was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. It is expensive but worth it for a special experience.
A great spot for delicious food and fun ambiance. Definitely a bit pricey, but worth it!
A bit expensive but a must!
Horrible service by the server as well as the hostess
Food was 1 star at best
I’ve been to Cosme before, so after the nomination as 25th best restaurant in the world I thought to go back again.
Food is still ok, nice ambience etc .... but poor service in my opinion. For every single dish (we ordered 7 in total) we literally had to chase different waiters to get the explanation of what we were eating, and most of the time their answers were quite vague.
Definitely it doesn’t worth that ranking
Very creative take on Mexican dishes. Extensive tequila and wine list.
Friends from Germany.
The food is great, though I bit overpriced. Our server ignored us the whole night, he didn’t bring us “bread service”(in cosme is some tostadas with hot sauce), we had to ask the food runner about it, he never checked if we liked our drinks, never asked us how was the food, or even if we were ok. Luckily for us his server assistant tried to help us out with any questions or concerns we might had. Overall a good experience, it sucks the service kind of ruined our night...
Excelente sabor de la comida, consistencia y calidad de los alimentos, muy buena recomendación del vino
Cosme was quite the treat. The staff and service was attentive and impeccable. The drinks at the bar were fantastic. The lighting was perfect. It was perhaps a bit loud, especially since the tables are quite close together, but it's hard to escape that in NYC.
Have always love this but it has gotten way too much of a scene and loud! The food has become just average and not worth the price. The service is off too. No need to go back!
De los mejores restaurantes de New York, excelente servicio y atencion.
La comida deliciosa
One of the 3 most memorable meals of our lives, and bested Per See (our last celebration). Exquisite, finely calibrated flavors and efficient, wonderful service. A uniquely marvelous experience and don't skip the corn meringue for dessert!
If you arrive earlier than 530pm there is a small sitting area. The bar is not open before 530pm. The service was superb and the waiter was very helpful with the unfamiliar items on the menu.
We especially enjoyed all the seafood cuisine and the wine list extensive. The cocktails were all very enjoyable and a twist of originality.
I've been to Cosme three times now - twice for dinner and once for brunch. It's a special place. The food is amazing and memorable, and the service is top-notch!
We were seated at a table for two and within ten minutes, the restaurant staff bumped into one of the chairs no less than 5 times! We complained and were seated at another table without much in the way of an apology. Overall I think the food is creative and well above average but the price / value relationship is the issue here. I was surprised at how limited the menu selections were and the lack of guidance by the server. There are very few, if any, reasonably priced selections on their wine list. It's what I call an expense account restaurant and one that makes me appreciate how the Danny Meyer approach to hospitality is so rare in many other upscale restaurants.
Very dark, very noisy. Every dish had at least one ingredient which had to be translated. Food was ok, but not special. Couldn’t wait to leave.
The food was quite good but the waiter recommended we order 4 to 6 dishes which was far too much food. It was quite loud so conversation was difficult.
Being from Texas I always try for a new Mexican restaurant in NYC.
EXCELLENT food, service and atmosphere.
Highly recommend. Loved the Burrata Veracruzana and the Corn Husk meringue especially!
Everything was wonderful we will definitely go back. Although we felt like the food came out a little fast and we would have liked more time in between each course to have enjoyed our drinks, company and ambiance.
Delicious food, great service, eclectic music, everything in this restaurant is on point. Definitely coming back when visiting NY again.
Top food- top chef
