Need to book at 4:15 AM?Other great restaurants with availability.
I didn’t like the food, was for my taste too small, I asked for example mole and it was very small and expensive, same with duck.
I didn’t felt the fish was fresh, and it was kinda expensive for the food, I been in Pujol same chefs restaurant and is better for my taste.
Very thoughtfully designed menu, from the complimentary house-made blue corn tortillas with smoky adobo sesame oil dip, to the artfully flowered guacamole, and the unique tataki with habanero pineapple puree and my companion's tempura butternut squash served with shiso leaves steamed into the yellow corn tortillas. Remarkable, tasty and servings not as small as the waiter warned. Wished I was there for dinner to get one of the interesting cocktails and more dishes...
Everything on the menu is amazing! The sea bass entree is delicious. Crispy skin with smooth fish and the well paired sauce comes together with the special tortilla (has a green leaf on I forget the name). Cannot wait to be back again
Cosme was a great find. I love Mexican food and while the menu was unusual compared to common US fare it actually more directly reflects the actual cuisine of Mexico. We enjoyed multiple dishes all creatively made and displayed including some fresh fish and a wonderful pork chop. Highly recommended. We had lunch but looks to be a fine date night spot as well. Good and creative cocktails as well.
Our whole group didn’t arrive until 10 mins past the reservation but it felt egregious that we ended up waiting 45 mins for a table. Separately, it was incredibly loud so it was difficult to hear the others are my table.
Table service was great. The food was delicious and the duck carnitas and mushroom dishes were a highlight.
When I read that the chef was ranked as the best female chef and the restaurant was ranked 23 out of 50 of the world; I expected my mind to be blown. It was great yet it did not live up to my expectations.
Fascinating flavors, ones you immediately wish were more frequently accessible in Mexican cuisine. A genuine learning experience
Liked the food. The chilequiles were great. Ceviche was good. Corn omelette was surprisingly smooth. Noise got a bit too loud after a group of young women cane in — they were in shriek mode. Terrible Bloody Mary but nice choice of sherry.
To be completely honest, firstly, once we were seated our drink orders were not taken until 30 minutes later and then we were given drinks that we did not order. Secondly, the food was small, in amount and flavour. I understand the meaning of ‘fine dining’ however this experience was not even close. Our waiter took over 40 minutes to take our food order and then an additional 40 minutes for our food to arrive in waves. For a table of 6 the amount of tortillas to their “shareable” dish was vastly skewed. In addition the drinks are over priced and not up to par with the amount given for a 20$ cocktail. I suppose this is the first and last visit to this restaurant.
Una gran experiencia, sobresale el toque mexicano en la cocina, si vas a NY ¡No te lo debes perder!
I love an innovative menu, but when every single dish needs an explanation, perhaps they should also include a photo of the dish or an experienced and PATIENT wait person who is happy to explain all the details. THe food was beautifully presented but not commensurate with the price or the quality of service. The portions are very small except for the entrees that are meant to be shared; we were all hungry by the end of our meal. Sorry Chef, very nice ambiance and food presentation but we are sorry to say we can not recommend eating here unless some changes are made. The place was full on a Sunday night, so I’m sure COSME is doing very well and my comments are all for naught. Salud!
Came here for my girlfriends birthday brunch and we had an incredible experience. I mentioned that it was her birthday in the reservation notes and they remembered and brought out an amazing Tres Leche cake. The food was soo tasty and fresh.
Food is always delicious but the service is smug and lacking. Overpriced wine and the shortest pour in NYC. There are better options.
Very efficient and friendly service. We love the ambiance and music, perfect for a Saturday night in NYC.
Of course, duck carnitas and hisk meringue are the winning combo
Amazing food, great service, nice atmosphere!
Good food but not what it used to be. Quality of service is just not there,
Small plates but exceptional taste, even tough the Mole was almost the same as in Pujol in Mexico City (sauce only) with a side of home made tortillas I could definitely say is the best Mole we’ve ever had. The aguachile was amazing too, the twist of Japanese fish mixed with the traditional Sinaloa dish was a wonderful mouthful of joy.
We had the merengue and the pear parfait for desert with a café de olla and carajillo for desert, it felt like home.
Chef did not disappoint.
Amazing food, as always - great server, attentive, informative
Duck carnitas and truffle tlayuda were amazing. we also liked a lot the margaritas and the ninja cocktail. it was not cheap, but we had a great New Years Eve dinner
The food was all
Es mi cuarta vez en el lugar y se mantiene espectacular!!!
special but not my style
I was disappointed. I was excited about being there. The smokey and delicious mole was served with burrata cheese that was sitting in a green oil with indiscernible flavor .., a strange pairing The pork was delicious so we made taquitos with all three items. The guacamole on the shrimp tostada was too limey and clashed with the shrimp paste layer. They got our order wrong but did comp a dessert to make up for it. I’m hoping it was just a bad day. We will give it another try.
Man, how disappointing. The food here was honestly below average for any level of dining. Everything was overly lemony and lacked good flavor. I would have been happier with fast food. I feel like we got robbed.
Triste experiencia por una pésima atención del mesero y el gerente!
As one of the best restaurants it lived up to it’s name. The food, service and ambience were spectacular!! I tried new dishes and it was truly an experience I won’t soon forget!!
It is pricey and I would even say overpriced!! So if you go be prepared to enjoy even rave but also be prepared to gasp at the check
Delicious meal before the theatre, but next time we will allow more time to relax and enjoy this fabulous venue!
Second time around. The food was amazing service was quiet good. I’d recommend this restaurant to anyone
I was unpleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. It has lost flavor and complexity. The sauces, which are at the heart of Mexican cuisine, were bland. I am not sure when I will go back after many great experiences.
The service was slow and we had to wait for about 20 minutes for our main and then there weren’t enough tortillas for the duck carnitas, which got cold.
The desserts were unremarkable. And to add insult to injury the guac was runny!! N ver seen anything like this.
Enrique, you gotta get involved in this slowly moving wreck.
This was my third time dining at Cosme. The food was very good — not amazing, but very good. The service, however, was disappointing. Although our server was very pleasant, the meal was rushed. The dishes came out in rapid fire succession, and the message was clear — don’t linger. For $300, I expect to be able to relax and enjoy my meal and not be chased away.
Great food. Not the best for a family.
Value for money is way off on this one.
I never want to be negative about a dining experience unless I have something thoughtful to say. We have dined at Cosme more than 6 times over the years since it opened. We were excited to come last Saturday night as an old friend who had moved away from NYC came back that weekend and the 5 of us were excited to return to Cosme- always one of our favorite places. What a disappointment! The hostess was down right rude to us ---she really had an attitude and seemed programmed to say "when you WHOLE party arrives, then we will seat you. Until then, you can wait at the bar" ( as if she has said that 5000 times - just not genuine). We have never experienced that at Cosme! Some of the portions seemed to have been smaller (Guacamole, the pork chop). And we always order the duck tacos to share (our favorite). The prices seem to have increased exponentially for what was a very average experience. The pork chop was excessively fatty and small. The stand out was the duck tacos - always a home run! Our waiter was fantastic (don't get me wrong), but the rest of the wait staff seemed tired and we had to ask for a lot of things - more water, more tortilla chip or more corn tortillas - we were a table of 5 so if you give us 5 corn tortillas, we are going to instantly need more (nothing that was high maintenance imo...things that in the past, we were usually asked about before we even needed them. The restaurant was full, but not so crazy that the staff did not have time. It was just not a stellar experience and we all said we were not sure we would rush to return or recommend.
We arrived at 2:50PM for a 2:30PM Sat lunch reservation after furiously trying to contact them that we were running late but no one answered the phone. We were stuck in traffic snarled due to once a year Santi-con pub crawl that day. We were rudely told that the kitchen had closed promptly at 2:45PM (this policy is not disclosed when reserving) and they would not honor our credit card held reservation for 2. They were snide and told us that this was what happened in NYC as if we were tourists (we have lived in Manhattan for over 30 years). There was no offer of a limited bar menu or even maybe a couple of complementary margaritas which would have been the hospitible thing to do. We have eaten at Cosme 8 to 9 times and the food is a fantastic take on Mexican (we are originally from Texas so we know of what we speak) but have never been treated so poorly by a restaurant's staff. We realize they a hot spot now but that does not last in NYC. We are unlikely to ever return.
We asked for a table that was not one in front each other and it wasn’t respected. We expected much more service from a restaurant like this
Great food, inventive mix of Mexican and global cuisines
Food is generally great, with a few small odd pairings that don’t work. Though I like that they push further instead of relying on staid combinations
Some of the portions could be a bit larger. It is definitely at the extreme of small plates and feels a bit planned to force diners to add more courses.
Service is top notch
Amazing food, loved it. Thumping house music made it hard to converse across the table. Otherwise would have got 5 stars
Arrived in time but not seated for 20 minutes. Hostess was snobby and not warm. Food was excellent but the service was slow. Took forever for the plates to be picked up.
