Cosima is located inside the old boiler room of the Mill No. 1 building, which has been nationally recognized for its painstaking renovation. Both the menu and atmosphere provide a warm inviting environment for friends, families and neighbors to gather and perhaps discover a part of the city many Baltimoreans have never seen. Dining on Cosima’s outdoor patio will offer incredible views of the historic Jones Falls waterway.
Sicily, and the surrounding Southern Italian region, is known for fresh and seasonal ingredients but is also a mix of all surrounding Mediterranean cuisines. Sicily was once home to Greeks, Arabs, French and Spanish – all lending their cultures to create modern Sicilian and Italian heritage.

I would not recommend this restaurant to my friends. I felt degraded and unwanted. We had a reservation through OpenTable, was on time for said reservation. I am not sure what the issue was with the staff, but I will not return. We arrived and was told to relax at the bar for a little bit while a few tables were opening up (that was fine). We sat at the bar the bartender was friendly asked if we wanted water and gave us menus. He gave us the water and then proceeded to clean up the bar and then finally took our order 10-15 minutes later. We ordered an appetizer since it was taking a while for the table. The hostess finally came over and said "settle your bar tab, a table would be ready shortly". We paid our bar tab and waited. As we sat at the bar a couple of four came in and was seated immediatley. My husband had to ask the hostess are we supposed to come to you or are you going to come and get us when the table is ready. She proceeded to walk us down to a pit with seating for 6-8 people and said our waitress would be over. This pit was away from the rest of the tables and could not be seen by anyone else in the restaurant. We waited a while and the waitress came over asked if we wanted water, gave us menus and asked if we had any questions about the menu. We said no, and she walked off. She did not ask were we ready to order or anything. We waited 10 minutes before we got up and left. bartender asked for our drink order. Very disappointed, we had heard such awesome reviews from our friends.
Among the best in Baltimore without any doubt!
3 of us loved out meals, 3 thought ok ( they all had the same French toast and thought it was too sweet) . The drinks were expensive. No iced tea
The experience here exceeded our expectations. Great staff, food and ambiance. With so many options it’s tough standing out, but Cosima accomplished that. Definitely going back.
Cosima may be my new favorite restaurant in Baltimore, especially for outdoor dining. We have eaten there before and always enjoyed the food, but the ambiance of dining outside on a perfect summer evening with the waters of the Jones Falls rushing along side was positively magical! Our appetizer of eggplant, 3 cheeses and pesto was one of th best versions of that combination I have ever had. I had the Bronzino and my husband had the scallops and we were both thrilled with the our dishes. They were fresh, seasonal, and perfectly cooked! Our server was very attentive but not hovering andwe found the entire meal relaxing, refreshing and rejeuvenating!
Our nephew and his new wife were in town from CO. We wanted to show them a gem of a restaurant in a special setting. We sat on the patio and had a memorable meal. Simple and creative southern Italian food coupled with a beautiful evening in a location that reminded us of European outdoor cafes. Just wonderful!
The server was rude to our party. The food was not impressive. We were out celebrating a special occasion and were disappointed. I would not recommend this place to friends in the area or anyone looking to celebrate a special occasion.
we have 2 major complaints : Our server, a middle aged woman, was like a diner waitress - unlike the young vibrant waitstaff we're used to at Cosima. She doesn't go with the place and she wasn't attentive to our needs.
One of our party ordered the roasted rabbit with polenta. The waitress described it as a stew. It had 2 pieces of carrot on top, and 2 pieces of apricot on top, with no other vegetables in the dish. It was rabbit on top of polenta and it had No taste whatsoever...very bland, boring. We complained and the server brought the manager over which was helpful and he took the dish over our bill, which we appreciate. We were very disappointed in the dish.
Also, the cannoli for dessert was Not Donna's cannoli that I remember and loved ! this serving was average, at best and was disappointing.
It seems the food side of the restaurant has slipped, so I am concerned, because I love the space and Donna.
Always a great meal at Cosima especially when enjoying the outdoor patio. There are few other places in Baltimore with such a lush, private, quiet outdoor space still in the city. Our server was attentive and friendly and the food was delicious!
My spouse and I dined with friends and Cosima was the perfect atmosphere for our gathering. The restaurant was vibrant but not too loud, the service was attentive (we especially enjoyed the recent college graduate who tended our table), and the food was good. Two of us ordered and enjoyed the Bronzino. My spouse ordered the salmon which was perhaps the most moist I've ever tasted. And, another in our party ordered and enjoyed the tuna. We paired our dishes with an excellent white wine. The only fail of the night was the cauliflower appetizer. It was hard, under seasoned, and generally not appetizing. With all of the stunning cauliflower preparations that have hit the mainstream in recent years, you would think they could get more imaginative and flavorful.
We had a lovely dinner. Food was fabulous and service was great. Highly recommend
The menu is imaginative, excellently prepared, great service, all in a warm and tasteful decor.
A really neat location, especially for after a movie at the Charles. Prices seem very high for the quality of the food and the somewhat weak service.
We went on a Sunday evening and loved the Prix Fixe pairing menu. The Bronzino was outstanding!
Really cool location and great ambience overall. The side by side seating is a little close. Everything was done very well. The starters/shared plates were fun and tasty but the pizza was unsurprising which was a little bit of a letdown.
Everyone was very professional, polite, warm and prompt.
Everything we had was wonderful! Our waiter, Mike, was very personable and made good recommendations. We started with 2 appetizers, the octopus and grilled cauliflower , both were excellent. We had 2 pasta entrees: the canneloni and the pomodoro, both perfectly prepared. The Italian wines were very good.
Food, service and ambiance were excellent. It was a special treat that Donna stopped by our table to make sure that all was good.
Excellent dining experience. Very satisfied with all aspects of the evening. The calamari was remarkable. I will return when the wild bore shank is in season!
The food is an upscale and very interesting version of Italian. The drinks are great. There was nothing we don't love about this innovative restaurant.
Our first time there celebrating our Anniversary. The waitress came out with 2 glasses of champagne. Very nice gesture and it was delicious. Great food., great atmosphere. We were unable to sit outside because of the rain but inside was very nice as well! Will be returning in the near future.
Usually a wonderful experience. This time service left a little bit to be desired.
Excellent food, amazing cocktails and a nice space. Overall a very good dining experience!
Service at the bar was sub-par again. It's the bartender with the mustache. Unfriendly and it took 10 minutes to flag him down for a drink. It was like he was intentionally not looking at us. The food was great but the service makes us not want to return.
Fantastic food, fabulous service and wonderful setting. Celebrated my best friend’s birthday and we sat outside. It was amazing!
Food was excellent as always, but I reserved outdoor seating and we were seated inside in essentially an alcove.
Hidden gem. Once walked inside, was amazed at the beauty of the restaurant. Food was amazing, service was on point.
April was not a good server. Everything else was on point. Manager was great and very accommodating
Wonderful food, great ambiance and attentive service
Asked for a quiet table and got a great spot on the lower level near the front entrance. Service very attentive. Food never fails to satisfy at Cosima.
First time EVER that we were disappointed with the food. :(
Space is cool, but the experience ends there. On our evening draft beer was unavailable due to their equipment being out of service. Then out of various items we would have ordered. Then the rules kick in, no you can’t have one scoop of two different gelato’s, but the normal serving is two of the same for $7, if you want one scoop of different flavors we can do that for $14, WHAT? And the final kicker is we can’t split your bill with different credit cards unless they are all equal! Really? We spend $1,000’s of dollars monthly at restaurants and that is a first. Will not be returning to this establishment.
Unfortunately, our experience at Cosima was not what we had hoped for. We placed our order and waited about 45 minutes without a visit from our waiter. Having placed an appetizer order, we were surprised when all of a sudden our entrees arrived. Our entrees were then taken back to the kitchen and another 20 minutes went by before our appetizers arrived. We were still hopeful that the food would be delicious and redeem the poor service but we were all disappointed. Out of the 4 entrees and 2 appetizers ordered, the only thing really worth eating was the Pizza of the Day which obviously isn't a regular menu item.
On a positive note, the manager was apologetic and did comp a large portion of our meal for which we were grateful.
We have been here many times, but this was the most disappointing visit. The food lacked flavor and the prices just continue to climb. If you are going to offer entrees for $38 or more, they better be awesome. We always struggle with the wine list and prices. So few familiar offerings and fully priced. Bring your own and pay the corkage.
We have enjoyed this restaurant for special events, every day dining and business. This time, the service and responsiveness to table was awfully disappointing and unprofessional when it comes to a restaurant serving $28-38 entrees. This was worse than pub service. Dirty plates stacking up around edges of table and no one (managers, servers or other support staff) ever bothered to wipe the table from any food the whole meal, and we had empty appetizers dishes on table top until we received the bill.
One of the best dining experiencea we have had on a long time. Everything top notch. Returning next week with family
Food and service was excellent! Great secluded location nestled down a long driveway to valet parking and a very aesthetic building on the Falls river. Definitely a nice find that we were not looking for, but fell upon! Will definitely go again. The bar tender Jim is a professional and the meals during happy hour were fresh, varied and authentic small dishes. We got one of each to sample because we couldn't decide!
I would not recommend this restaurant. Parts of the menu were misleading, some of the entrees came, my husband waited 30 mins. for his potatoes to come. It was Mother's Day, not packed, not impressed. I was excited to dine here, but very disappointing.
It was REALLY cold in the restaurant. Food was good, service was great, but I started shivering.
