Cosima is located inside the old boiler room of the Mill No. 1 building, which has been nationally recognized for its painstaking renovation. Both the menu and atmosphere provide a warm inviting environment for friends, families and neighbors to gather and perhaps discover a part of the city many Baltimoreans have never seen. Dining on Cosima’s outdoor patio will offer incredible views of the historic Jones Falls waterway.
Sicily, and the surrounding Southern Italian region, is known for fresh and seasonal ingredients but is also a mix of all surrounding Mediterranean cuisines. Sicily was once home to Greeks, Arabs, French and Spanish – all lending their cultures to create modern Sicilian and Italian heritage.

My favorite spot the food is approachable for everyone from a foodie to less adventurous and just delicious! Our waiters have always made the night more fun with personalities and chef even checks on your meal. Their specials are always a treat and cocktails delicious - never leave disappointed plus valet!!!
I have been to Cosima close to 10 times. It is an attractive setting wit the exposed brick. The bar in the center of the room is attractive. The food is always solid, consistently good. However, it has never been great and is not inexpensive. Most of the time, I go for business. Depending upon where you sit, it can be quiet or very noisy.
Had an awesome date night here this past weekend. The only thing I was little bummed about was the seating area. I wanted to have an intimate dining experience and found that we felt a little cramped after we were seated and decided to sit at the bar. Other than that, the cocktails were super tasty and the vibe was great. Food came out in huge portions so I would definitely recommend splitting with someone. Would definitely come back again and experience the outdoor seating area in the summer!
Cosima is an experience. Difficult to get into and out of. Complimentary valet is a must. Restaurant has interesting aspects and bar seemed lively. Food is definitely upscale Italian dining, but would not classify it as comfort food. Cocktails are expertly mixed with some specialties which are unique and flavorful. However, simple basics (like ice tea) are lacking which is to be noted. Prices are what you would expect for high end dining. Enjoyed the meal, but probably would not return due to extreme difficulty with location and price.
Great food, nice atmosphere, nice decor. Reservation on time, seated promptly, with choice of front or back.
Enjoyed our experience but way too pricey. Nice unusual atmosphere. Would like to return in warmer months to try the brick oven pizza out on the Patio.
We had dinner at Cosima before going to Miracle on 34th Street. Since we are from Rockville, this was our first time there. The staff at Cosima, from the valets to the wait staff, could not have been sweeter or more helpful. We ordered 3 appetizers to share among the 4 of us and were pleased at their shareable size. We were pretty full by the time the entrees came, and ended up with to-go boxes, but we enjoyed each appetizer so much I wouldn’t have changed a thing. Actually, while the entrees were good, I found the appetizers more creative and flavorful. I think if I go back, I’ll suggest we just order from the appetizer menu and make it tapas style.
I had been wanting to try this place out for a while and I must say it was worth the wait. The ambiance is fantastic and they did and excellent job fusing the existing historic textile mill with the modern Italian restaurant. There was a birthday party get together in the bar area so I was seated on the second level. I ended of ordering the lobster with the cuttlefish ink pasta after deliberating for a while. Everything tasted great and even though the cuttlefish ink pasta looked a little odd it had a great flavor. I had a few adult beverages. They have an extensive wine selection and a good number of local breweries on tap. If you are having trouble the waiter and waitresses are more than happy to recommend a selection to go with your meal. I had a great time and can’t wait to come back.
I use to love this place, however my last experience has me contemplating whether or not to return. Brussel sprouts as usual on point. Service ok, however the entrees! The entree’s were awful awful. I don’t complain or write reviews much, maybe it was our fault for selections, but the lobster fettuccine was extremely underwhelming and bland. The pasta was close to a jar of Gerber’s baby food. The actual lobster which from the menu description sounded hearty however the presentation was almost like the chef tossed it on the plate as a garnish. This particular lobster appeared to be the runt of the runt of the litter, watery, and soaked my entire ugly Christmas sweater. Tasted more fishy than a crustacean should. The pork belly...well let’s not even start, but needless to say we weren’t taking a doggy bag
Quality of food not worth the cost. The Pendry and Tagliata are much better for the price
This was our first trip to Cosima, quaintly located in a beautifully restored, historic Mill. It was very welcoming and lovely with historic touches and contemporary elegance. We all were happy with our cocktails and wine and the delicious home made bread sticks. Appetizers, especially the brussels sprouts were very tasty. Dinners were devine! I'm not a big fan of typical "spaghetti and meatballs" but these inventive Italian dishes are wayyyy beyond that. None of us ordered the pasta dishes that evening but those on the menu sounded wonderful. Donna does not disappoint and I'm sure we'll be back...The night we visited it was rainy and gray (so much of that lately) but we did take a quick look at the outdoor terrace overlooking the millrace before leaving. We can imagine a lovely summer evening dining there.
Wanted so much to like this place. Cauliflower wasn’t quite cooked. Brussel sprouts were amazing. Steak was incredibly fatty but good flavor. Chicken was good but vegetables undercooked; hard.
I love the food. and the atmosphere is usually great. My biggest complaint as well as my friend who I dined with was that the lights were way too bright and way too harsh. The lights need to be dimmed other wise you feel like your on stage. the lighting was way too harsh. It should be more intimate and cozy. We asked if they could dim it but and the server said yes, and she agreed it was too bright but I don't think they did.
This has become our go to Friday night spot after a long week and longer commutes . The service is fantastic. We usually stay at the bar and enjoy the happy hour selections which are delicious and fun . If you are a first timer the only hard part is finding the entrance which is down a steep drive way. First time Uber drivers ALWAYS get lost
Amazing flavors. Great presentation. Good value. A new favorite. Excellent dining experience.
Simply, as always, divine perfection!!!!!!
Food looked delicious but was poorly executed. Entrees were heavily under-seasoned. Service was haphazard.
Our server April was awesome. Knowledgeable about the wine list and menu. Efficient, friendly and professional. Loved the atmosphere will be back!!!
Unfortunately, a family birthday dinner didn't live up to our hopes. The kids loved the homemade pasta and the pizza however, my husband and I thought our meals were not special and one was definitely not good. The bronzini was not cooked well, it was underdone in some parts and didn't have much flavor. on my husbands meal the shrimp was over done, tough and hard and risotto was underdone. It has very little flavor, the squash was hard, almost impossible to chew and their was none of the creaminess of risotto. The hostess was warm and friendly but the waitress was impatient and not attentive. Typically, I would have said something about the risotto dish but since my kids were there I let it go. We were seated at a table against the wall, next to the kitchen door and the restaurant was not that busy. I guess that is the table designated for families. Finally, when we got our car from the valet it smelled like smoke the whole way home. Why do smokers not understand that smoke clings to your clothes and to non-smokers it smells really gross. Disappointing night.
Great food but large portions. None of us were able to finish our entrees. Service was terrific - available when we wanted him but otherwise left us alone. Chef came by our table to see how we enjoyed our food. The wine list is a strong list of southern Italian wines, which one does not see very often. A little noisy. We would go back.
This old mill was designed with a sense of comfort and history—from the Edison bulbs to the exposed brick and mill parts, to the seating that encourages a relaxed meal and extended conversation.
But there has to be a reason to stay, and that's the food: a romaine salad that's tossed with a creamy, garlicky dressing; meatballs with ricotta that harken to the Italian grandmother you might not even have; roasted cauliflower and Brussels sprouts, crisp and sweet with balsamic vinegar; fish cooked to a perfect doneness. The service was attentive, friendly, and always just in time.
Perhaps the only flop was the bland and chewy New York strip—but why order steak at an Italian restaurant?
Expect to pay for all these treats. Cosima is pricy. Then again, a table of four had two entrees, five appetizers, four salads, and three drinks, two sparkling waters, and a cup of coffee for $200. Not too bad. Everyone was full and satisfied.
Treat yourself. One visit will bring you back.
The execution of dishes just isn’t on par with Donna’s namesake restaurant and the prices are higher. Lovely spot but disappointed
Absolutely divine birthday dinner with my husband! The wine, Arancini, rockfish special, and the best Tiramisu I have ever had. The staff was wonderful.
We went for the first time for our anniversary. The food was fabulous and the service was terrific. The staff was very attentive. We are looking forward to taking friends back and ordering other menu options.
The service was incredible and very welcoming. The veal, ravioli and meatloaf were fantastic. We tried many of the signature cocktails - very impressive. Cosima is always a must dine location.
Good not as good as on our last visit. Simple pasta dishes priced too high.
I always enjoy a visit to Cosima. Staff is great. Food is awesome. I had the pork shank. Best dinner I've had in a long, long time.
Sunday "mangia" menu is a wonderful way for two to share.
Lovely place, friendly staff, wonderful food. Great ambiance. My new favorite place
My first visit to Cosima presented an outstanding experience in dining elegance! The wait staff were very attentive and the food, outstanding! It is definitely one of my best dining experiences in Baltimore.
Drinks came after appetizers.. appetizer was not that good.. they took off bill ... server not experienced but very nice ..you don’t serve appetizers without a drink !
I was looking forward to trying this place for a long time, but I was let down. Most of the food was very good, but it wasn't good value. The service was ok overall, but our waiter was a little snarky and not attentive enough for the price point.
I plan to give this place a second try in the summer to check out their patio seating and see if that balances out the rest of the experience not quite meeting my expectations.
A great setting, great service. Food was hit or miss, with some entrees terrific, and others disappointing (one in particular). Desserts were great, and appetizers were very good. It's odd, but we've eaten at Donna's many times (run by the same group), and I think the food there is a bit better there with a more reasonable price point. But, ambiance at Cosima is much better...
Had my second wonderful meal at cosima - -and the best part is Donna herself is a ubiquitous presence, serving dinners and asking how everything went -- nice touch!
We had a delicious dinner. The atmosphere was wonderful and the food absolutely delicious.
We have eaten here before and always been very pleased with the quality of the food, fun cocktail menu, and ambiance. The servers are always attentive. We were there on a Sunday night and they seemed a little short-staffed, with slow delivery of food and some mild confusion by those delivering the food about which table’s food they were bringing.
Still, we live the place and will be back to enjoy it again.
I've been to Cosima a few times now. The food has been hit and miss. The appetizers and pizza's all have been delicious. The main meals have sometimes been a disappointment. Two folks at our table ordered the prawns and risotto. The risotto wasn't great and the prawns were ok. We requested a nice table on our reservation because we were celebrating a special occasion. However, we were seated upstairs right next to the inside wall near the temperature controls - not very nice. I still would recommend Cosima, but would suggest folks stick to appetizers, pizza, and dessert.
amazing atmosphere and even better food. highly suggest for your next romantic occasion.
