This unique and tranquil setting in the heart of the city offers views of the water, opportunities for Great Blue Heron sightings, and of course chef Donna Crivello’s take on Sicilian and Southern Italian cuisine.

Cosima is located inside the old boiler room of the Mill No. 1 building, which has been nationally recognized for its painstaking renovation. Both the menu and atmosphere provide a warm inviting environment for friends, families and neighbors to gather and perhaps discover a part of the city many Baltimoreans have never seen. Dining on Cosima’s outdoor patio will offer incredible views of the historic Jones Falls waterway.

Sicily, and the surrounding Southern Italian region, is known for fresh and seasonal ingredients but is also a mix of all surrounding Mediterranean cuisines. Sicily was once home to Greeks, Arabs, French and Spanish – all lending their cultures to create modern Sicilian and Italian heritage.

The food is consistent, the staff is knowledgeable on menu and beverage and they are also very accommodating to attempt changes to menu items that may need to be altered. All make for an awesome dining experience.

The servers were overwhelmed. The waits at every step were very long.

Stunning space in an old waterfront mill -- think massive steel beams, industrial stone- and brick-work, old ore buckets suspended from the ceiling. It's right on the river and in summer the terrace must be a lovely spot to sit out on. Menu is Italian inspired and creative; Sunday was family style (each pair of diners picks an appetizer combo, an entree, and a dessert and hsares them -- portions were more than generous and food delicious). Definitely a destination worth visiting. One note: the road past the mill is a bit tricky and twisty, look out for the big red arrow and the Cosima sign which points you down a steep driveway to valet parking and the restaurant entrance.

Cosima did not disappoint. Wonderful food and wine with great service. The perfect place for a date night out.

We were two couples dining out and catching up. It was the perfect venue to enjoy each other. We both ordered the Sunday night prix fixe, which all felt was a wonderful value for the quality and quantity of food. We were a little surprised at the extra aioli up-charge for our fritto misto, but everything else was such a good deal that it more than made up for it. Don't sleep on those polpetto!! Dreamy meatballs.

This is a beautiful place for ambience and just so unique a setting. — with the Jones Falls River right beside you —lovely
But IMHO thats where they put all of their mojo
We’ve given this place three tries now and would describe it as Unmemorable and just OK.
So given it’s fairly high prices I do think
they need to up their game

The food was good but did not justify the price. Service was stellar. We were visiting with a friend from out of town that we hadn’t seen in years so we took forever to get around to ordering. Our waitress was patient and gracious and never made us feel rushed.

Valentines Day

Valentine's day menu was completely over priced. Expected something special for $100 per person without alcohol. Very disappointed. Food was good but we could find same quality elsewhere at half the cost. Will never go there again.

Fantastic spot for a Valentine’s meal. Not ever disappointed by this place.

Cosima is a misleading, mediocre, and overpriced establishment.

I had made a reservation for Valentine’s day via OpenTable and was looking forward to trying some of the items on their main menu. Instead, I was boxed into ordering from their $100 prix fixe Valentine’s “special” menu.

The first sip of my Citta Vuota cocktail (not included in the prix fixe) was almost entirely gin and prosecco, and with each sip the cocktail got sweeter. Not sure what it takes to be able to not mix a cocktail properly.

I started with the “roasted beet salad”, which was in fact a kale salad with a few pieces of beet. The garlic was disproportionately strong - certainly inappropriate for an occasion such as Valentine’s. The texture contrast that was aimed with the pistachio brittle was a failure - the contrast was so great that it made the salad quite strange.

I absolutely hated that the rockfish was served with “sweety drops” peppers. It was one of the worst combinations I’ve had. The rockfish itself was overly black-peppered. When the server asked how everything was, I expressed my dissatisfaction, and all I got was a shrug.

The chocolate mousse cake, with its slightly old and soured cream, was the best part of the meal. And that tells a lot.

The entire meal, not including the cocktail, probably would have costed around $60 based on Cosima’s regular menu prices. That they did not offer their main menu on Valentine’s and that they boxed their patrons into paying for their undeserving Valentine’s prix fixe was ugly.

If information on OpenTable were clearer (there was no mention of a Valentine’s prix fixe, let alone that being the only option) and if I had known I was going to be getting myself into this $100 prix fixe nonsense, I wouldn’t have chosen Cosima for my Valentine’s dinner. Now, I won’t be choosing Cosima for any of my meals.

They were slammed on Valentine's day. Wine paring for first course arrived before cocktails. Food was rushed to table; courses overlapped. Final wine paring was forgotten altogether. Coffee arrived after we had finished our dessert. All of this with our favorite waiter! They realized it and gave us a gift certificate for next visit.

Dining at Cosima is always a special experience whether one sits in the cozy interior of this lovely restaurant's or outside in the garden area. The service is right on target, and table visits by Donna, the owner and chef, make this establishment personal and friendly. The menu has a wide variety of options, and there are non-meat items that are very tasty. Try the "Pasta Norma," a combination of eggplant, olives, and tomatoes. Overall, this is a "special occasion" spot, although one could sit at the bar and order from the appetizer menu. Highly recommended!

The restaurant itself is incredibly beautiful. We loved the industrial vibe of the old mill, and the staff was attentive and friendly. We were greeted by the exec chef and she brought us our food personally throughout the night. The food was delicious!

Loved the atmosphere and architecture of the restaurant. We had an amazing meal from appetizers to dessert. Definitely recommend the cannoli! Overall a great experience
